  1. THANK YOU!!!!!! I can't believe that green poop everyday 6 times a day is normal. He is still in diapers too so I get to see them up close and personal! The smell is not normal either, the kid could clear a room! And nope he doesn't eat spinach at all! That one made me laugh, thanks!
  2. The food journal is a great idea. I did this when I was trying to figure out the roller coaster ride of infant reflux. I thought tomato sauce was the problem (he was breastfed) but I started to notice that when I had food with no tomato but cheese like mexican, he had terrible nights. He would reflux so hard we could hear it and he would choke on it. I started...
  3. I had to take Katharine off dairy as well for almost a year until she healed. She can eat it now with no problems at all. Same thing as posted, she was doing well and then the belly aches, gas, and bloating started again. We removed dairy and she was fine. Also as far as yogurt goes, Yoplait yogurt is gluten free. We use either the original flavors or...
  4. Katharine's appetite totally changes when glutened, it takes a few days to get her to eat well again. She is a terrible eater to begin with!
  5. My DD doesn't like the real stuff either. Mrs. Butterworths is now using barley in their natural flavoring so they are not gluten-free, we got caught there. Be careful of the Eggo brand as well. We called tring to find a new one after Mrs B's, they assured us it was gluten-free and she got a rash on her bottom and pale stools followed later that day, she...
  6. Hi Aidan's Granma, Welcome to the forum. The people here are great and you will get lots of help. If the fries were fried in oil that also fried any breaded items then he could have definitely been glutened through cross contamination. We can usually tell if Katharine has been glutened within an hour or so. She will complain of a tummy ache, next bm...
  7. Thanks for all the replies they are really helpful. I am off to the store tomorrow to get a new pillow and a dust cover for it now that we are home from holiday visits. We cleared out all the lovies except for three favorites that take a regular spin in the washer with blankie! Another question for you though, Michael has had 6 bm's per day for the last...
  8. For the hot dog issue... my daughter will eat the Kinnikinnick hot dog buns if I cut out most of the middle and toast the living daylights out of it! One way we have moved around this is corn dogs! I read that you don't do much processed foods, we try not to as well however S'Good brand corn dogs are gluten free and they are very good. I am sure you could...
  9. Thanks Patti! That is a great suggestion. I was looking into the pillow thing but the mattress I hadn't thought of!
  10. Michael had his visit to the allergist. He has tested negative to all food allergies which is wonderful since he was allergic to dairy and soy. He did however test positive...very positive... to both species of dust mites. The doctor had me buy a hepa air purifier for his bedroom and he is now taking Nasonex 2 times daily to reduce inflamation and irritation...
  11. Hi Kim, I get many of my things from Meijer in Ann Arbor. Also Arbor farms has some Kinnickinnick products and other gluten free products. Hellers I think is the name of the market on Washtenaw is suppose to have many items as they have recently had a gluten free fair. I was not able to go as both of my kids had a stomach virus. Also Whole Foods on...
  12. congratulations! I am so happy to hear you had a nice time!
  13. ravenwoodglass, Thanks for the speedy reply. I appreciate it. We have been toying with the idea of just putting him gluten free since we did the DNA testing when Katharine was pos dx last year. Michael tested negative for celiac back then but the DNA test came back positive for the celiac gene...so we know it is there lurking! I am worried though...
  14. Michael saw the Allergist on Tuesday. He said it was possible that some allergies have developed or resurfaced. We are doing some skin testing on Dec 11th. I hope we get some answers. He seems to be slightly less cranky on the Prevacid and I was hopeful, however he had pizza for dinner last night and in the middle of the night he had a BM which he hasn...
  15. Hi all Well all of Michael's test results were negative. The doctor put him on an antibiotic called Flagil for a bacterial overgrowth in the gut (just in case) and put him back on Prevacid 15 mg for 2 months. Michael had pretty bad silent reflux and dairy and soy allergies as an infant until about 22 months, she wants to see if maybe the reflux is acting...
  16. Katharine had blood in her stool and on the tissue, sometimes and little sometimes a lot. This is how we foudn the Celiac disease. She also suffered from fissures as a baby and that also left blood in her diaper. Either way whether it is the Celiac or a fissure or something else it definitely needs to be checked out. Since she is gluten free there is NO...
  17. This is a really hard situation. How long ago was ds diagnosed? If it hasn't been long, I definitely agree it sounds like denial. My husband was in the middle east with the Navy when Katharine was diagnosed. When he returned home I had to give him a crash course until he was able to read the book. He had a hard time comprehending the cc factors but I told...
  18. Have any of your little ones ever eaten oranges and had the pieces come out undigested. Not whole slices but little seed shaped juice filled pulp pieces. They almost look like worm segments. I have never seen this before in my dd or kids I babysat when I was younger. It happened again tonight. Any thoughts? (sorry for continuing the gross threads...
  19. We talked to the doctor, now it's time to consult the experts! Well Michael and I went to the GI today. I brought with me a list of all of the changes in him during the last 9 weeks. She reviewed his blood tests from his last draw in September along with the print out I brought in. His TTG was normal, his IgA was slightly elevated. She said that she...
  20. Katharine was tested for allergies to find her peanut allergy and sweet pea allergy. Those are the only foods that came up positive on the test, she was negative for wheat. When her tTg was done she was off the charts. Later we had the allergy panel done again to recheck the peanut thing and she still showed negative for a wheat allergy. They can definitely...
  21. My ds uses play doh in kindergarten with her class. The teacher uses it as an activity when both teacher and parapro are working with different groups as it is something the kids can do on their own. I got Katharine her own playdoh from discount school supply. It has held up great. She has her own bucket with name and gluten free written in perm marker...
  22. ds has the same thing in his diaper a few times a week. Before bed he used the potty ( )and it was green with white swirls. I almost looked like a candy cane! (sorry kinda gross!) I would be interested to hear if anyone has ideas.
  23. For pizza we use the Kinnikinnick (I won't ever learn how to spell that!) pizza crusts and Katharine loves them. We use them for pizza and I also put butter, garlic salt, and mozzerella cheese on them for cheesy garlic bread. She can't get enough. For syrup we were trying the Eggo syrup that Kellog's told me was gluten free however based on Katharine's...
  24. Halloween was WONDERFUL! We had a blast Katharine was the Pink Power Ranger Michael was Bob the Builder Lots of tricks and treats (mostly gluten-free by luck of the draw so not too many frowns!) School party was great, I am room mom so my critter stayed gluten-free and happy! Great thread! So nice to read and write happy stuff!
  25. My daughter was tested positive via blood tests and biopsy a little over 1 year ago. When she tested positive we tested my son. His blood tests were negative but at the GI suggestion we had a gene test done. His came back positive. As stated earlier, the GI told me that this means he carries the gene but may never develop celiac. However, she also told...
