ARCHIVED Mourning Corn Pops?
angel-jd1 replied to Ruth's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Mini- There are only 3 malt o meal cereals that are gluten free (that I have ever recieved confirmation on). Crispy rice isn't one of the three. Here are the 3 that are safe (for a while longer). *Malt-O-Meal Corn Bursts *Malt-O-Meal Fruity Dyno-Bites *Malt-O-Meal Cocoa Dyno-Bites cereal -Jessica -
ARCHIVED Bandwidth Limit Exceeded
angel-jd1 replied to celiac3270's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I recieved this error today: Also have been having trouble if I log in at a computer that I haven't been logged into for a while. I put in my username and password, push send and it doesn't log me in. I have to go through the steps a second time before it will let me in. Weird. -Jessica -
ARCHIVED Mourning Corn Pops?

That makes me happy, at least they know how we feel about it!!! What they said shows that they are at least listening to their customers concerns. -Jessica -
ARCHIVED Article: Westport Student Files Lawsuit
angel-jd1 replied to angel-jd1's topic in Publications & Publicity
Here you have two educators who have continually said "504 is a good/positive thing" , yet there is still argument against it. I'm just not getting it. I am the one in the classroom with the kids all day long. I know what works for my classroom and the kids within the classroom. WHY would an extra safeguard be terrible? It helps everyone involved. It... -

ARCHIVED Snickers Popables
angel-jd1 replied to alltourmaline's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Those have contained wheat since they came out with them a couple of years ago. Never assume something is gluten free. When the candies change shapes, for example at holiday times, sometimes the formulation changes. Always read labels. -Jessica -
ARCHIVED Safe Lists?
angel-jd1 replied to mcle8232's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Any list is out of date as soon as it is printed. Things constantly change. That is why you have to take it upon yourself and call the company directly. The lists are there to give you an idea of what you can have, or a guide. You really need to double check it on your own. I would never depend totally upon a list. I always call and confirm on my own. Gives... -
ARCHIVED Mourning Corn Pops?

Keep reading the malt-o-meal labels. The formulation will/should/supposedly is changing soon, to add wheat. Be on the safe side and always read. -Jessica -
ARCHIVED Crab Legs And/or Other Fish?
angel-jd1 replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I'm curious what you mean by this?? Salads are just veggies. Request that croutons be left off. Bring your own dressing. Couldn't get any easier. -Jessica -

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the prep is the WORST part of it. Trust me!! I hope you got yourself some baby wipes (flushable kind). After you get through the prep, it is smooth sailing from there. You will do fine. -Jessica -
ARCHIVED Going To Central America
angel-jd1 replied to chels12's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
You might look into a translator if there are any language barriers you might face. Make sure to pack a few snacks to take with you "just in case". If you are careful, I am sure you can/will have a great experience. -Jessica -
I have been feeling similar the last couple of weeks. I have not been hungry, nothing sounds good to eat. If I SMELL food, I get hungry, but otherwise not hungry. Living alone, you don't SMELL much food!! ha I try to make myself eat one meal a day. I know I have to eat. Just not sure why I haven't been in the mood for food lately. -Jessica

angel-jd1 replied to TiffyLee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sounds to me like this is a REALLY good lesson as to why you shouldn't eat gluten. Cheating does damage. There are too many nasty things that can come from not saying on the gluten free diet. If the big C word (cancer) doesn't scare you then I don't know what will. Cancer, lupus, infertility, diabetes etc etc, those are NOT nice things. I don't think eating... -

ARCHIVED Condensed Soup And Bread Crumbs
angel-jd1 replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Progresso chicken with wild rice and Progresso Creamy Portabella Mushroom are not condensed but work well in caseroles etc as a sub for condensesd. Progresso clearly lists the top allergens on their labels so always read. -Jessica -
First of all I want to say WOW, you are a great husband for helping her with all this. That is great!! She needs your support now and you are doing a great job. The best way to learn is just jump right in!! This is a good place to start, I have learned the most from message boards. You are overwhelmed with information right now, but it does get...

ARCHIVED Article: Westport Student Files Lawsuit
angel-jd1 replied to angel-jd1's topic in Publications & Publicity
Why is it dumb to want to protect your children? I am not saying that these particular people are correct in their thinking on the whole issues of the 30 min late start. However, celiac disease IS covered by the ADA. To think that a school could just pull this child's rights is crazy!! I am a teacher and would prefer that my students have a 504 if they... -
ARCHIVED What To Feed 5 Year Old?
angel-jd1 replied to Terri-Anne's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
MMMMmm pizza burger that sounds good. There used to be a little mom and pop place near me that made pizza burgers. Had sauce and mozzarella cheese and some italian seasonings mixed in with the burger. Good stuff!! -Jessica -
ARCHIVED Amy's Gf Pizza
angel-jd1 replied to Donna F's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are more than one kind of Amy's pizza, so make sure to read the label and get the rice crust. I get my Amy's meals at the health food store and also get some of them at Target and HyVee in the frozen foods section. They are cheaper at target and HyVee, but less variety there. -Jessica -

The multivitamin chews from Viactiv are a brand new product. They just came out within the last month or so. You would probably be better off calling the company to find out the status. Let us know what you find out. -Jessica
