ARCHIVED I'm Going To Med School!
PeggyV replied to heathen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Congratulations, wish more Doctors had Celiac/ Gluten Intolerance. Maybe they would be more inclined to listen to you when you tell them about your symptoms and not so quick to rule out the possibility just because your tests come back negative. -
ARCHIVED Help...
PeggyV replied to nothing but nicole's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Poor thing! I know it is hard to be going through this alone, but what ever the outcome you will be able to deal with it. Believe in yourself, I am sure there is strenght within you havent tapped. I have been on a glutten free diet for 4 months. My daughter who is 23 started hers 5 months ago. It really is not as expensive as you would think. ... -
ARCHIVED Are There Any Healthy, Dry Snacks?
PeggyV replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If your not allergic to soy, there are soy crisps that are good. Different flavors, some are gluten-free, you have to check, I dont have the list right now. I have not had a problem with them. Roberts American Gourmet makes a few snack foods that are healthier then potatoe chips. This is what their web site says about them: Are your snacks... -

PeggyV replied to ShannonS's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome! I live in Houston too. Both my daughter and I live here and are both self diagnosed gluten intolerant. You can find gluten free foods in a few stores. Finding quick food was harder, but I found Amy's gluten free frozen meals at whole foods, some Krogers and HEB, though some people have had some problems with them on the site, so far I havent... -

PeggyV posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know that a lot of you probubly no this, but I thought I would post it again for newer people (like me). PeggyV replied to PeggyV's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks, I agree with you. Even though I would like to know for sure, I do not want to go back on a gluten diet to prove it. I am thankful I dont have past problems and will continue with this healthy diet. -

ARCHIVED Ibs Or Celiac
PeggyV replied to JoPaRe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had all of you symptoms and same diagnosis. I had no luck with blood test or biopsy of my itchy blisters (however I think my dr. biopsied the only bug bite on my leg instead of the smaller blisters in groups). I went on a gluten free diet just before blood test and biopsy and in about 2 weeks started feeling much better. In about 3 weeks the blisters... -
I took it every night for about 2 years, but that was 4 years ago. It helped me fall asleep, but sometimes I would wake up still middle of the night. I used to take a couple pills a night, about 6 mg. It never hurt me. I have always had problems absorbing meds. Having taken anything since I have been gluten free, so I dont know now. This was during...

ARCHIVED Enterolab Diagnosis
PeggyV replied to PeggyV's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for your comments. I know you are correct. I cant even imagine going back to eating gluten. It is just frustrating not to get a confirmation in the diagnosis. I do plan to continue gluten free. I have it easier then a lot of people. My husband is very supportive, my daughter who lives in Houston too, is also on a gluten free diet, so we share... -
ARCHIVED Devastated! Everything's Fine With Me?

I would try the diet, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain. It worked for me. I think there are still things out there they do not know about this. -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Diagnosis
PeggyV replied to PeggyV's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Maybe something was wrong. I do know when I cheated (I tried to eat just the top of lemon pie new years eve...) I bloated very bad, had cramps, D, and felt tired and sluggish. I am not heavy (or thin) and I lost my waist because I bloated so bad. The symptoms dissipated gradually for the next week. This happened before when I accidentally ate gluten... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Diagnosis
PeggyV posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
After years of digestive problems I started getting small itchy blisters on my arms and legs. A dermatologist said it looked like DH. The blood test came back negative. I started reading up on DH and celiac and became convinced that I had a glutton intolerance. My mother had been told she had a wheat allergy and my daughter had been on a gluten free diet... -
ARCHIVED Unclear Diagnosis
PeggyV replied to jmn1958's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I agree with the others, I have not had a positive test, but over the years I cut a good deal of gluten out of my diet....just made me feel better. I did not realise what Celiac was. Once I had chronic diarea, years at a time. I had my gallbladder out, was diagnose with irritalbe bowel, etc. Then I started breaking out in small itchy blisters..... My... -
ARCHIVED Questions?!
PeggyV replied to lax87's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My daughter has suffered through out her teens with depression and compusive eating. When a nutritionist suggested she go on a glutten free diet, her life changed. She said a dark cloud was lifted from her life. I realized that I had spent years with many of the symptons, lately getting DH. I have also on a gluten free diet. It is tough following it...
