  1. I took my Zmax when I got home from work today. It is probably a good thing that it took an extra day to get. If I had taken it last night I would have thought I had a reaction to it. I had a bad gluten reaction and a very restless night. I don't eat gluten on purpose, but I sure can tell when it has found me. I am thinking yesterday could be from the...
  2. Well I went to the doctor yesterday. He prescribed Z-Max which I have taken before with no problem. It is one dose of horrible fake banana flavored liquid. The pharmacy had to order it and was supposed to be in today but won't be in until tomorrow. I have been too chicken to try a neti pot or sinus rinse. I did mention it to my doctor and he said that...
  3. Hi, At least I haven't had so many sinus infections since I went gluten free. The problem is now I have one and have reacted to yet another antiobiotic. It is so frustrating. My doctor does agree that I absorb them in strange ways. He believes most of my reactions are really too much of the antibiotic for my system. This last one he had me take half...
  4. Both of your lemon recipes sound yummy. I have been craving something lemon (ice cream actually), but haven't seen it when I have went to the store. Maybe I'll just have to bake something lemon instead. Thanks
  5. My little sister was diagnosed at a year old with Celiac Disease. I am self diagnosed. My little sister visited my mother in Florida a few months ago and notice that Mom's gas smelled like celiac. My mother has suffered from very itcy rashes for a couple of years now and also has osteoarthritis. I remember my father being on the toilet immediately after...
  6. I saw that in the newspaper today. It is only a couple of miles from where I live. I can't wait to try it. Wendy
  7. This is a really interesting subject. They did fingerprint me for my current job. They did it over a couple of times. It does make you wonder. I have to check out the u tube. I have had white lines on my hands, but don't see any at the moment.
  8. I'm glad you brought this up. I have had a dry itchy patch on my forehead that is reddish. It doesn't seem to go away no matter how much moisturizer that I use. Also Ravenwood's reply makes sense to me. I haven't been officially diagnosed with DH, but I am sure that is what I have. I have been gluten free for 18 months now. I do still get little really...
  9. 2 cups crushed Glutino pretzels 8 ounce carton frozen whipped topping thawed 3/4 cup melted butter 6 ounce package strawberry jello 3 Tablespoons sugar 2 cups boiling water 8 ounce package cream cheese softened ...
  10. A customer brought in 2 different kinds of these macaroons, chocolate and caramel. I read the ingredients and didn't see anything that looked like gluten to me. Even in the packaged list of ingredients that are processed there, I didn't see gluten. I am not even sure where they bought them from and have't been able to find them on the internet. I was...
  11. Dear Collette, Those muffins sound awesome. I have made muffins using fresh strawberries that remind me of a strawberry bread that I made before going gluten free. I did try baking a gluten free loaf, but I find the muffins work much better. I can't wait to try raspberry though, one of my favorite fruits. Thank You so much for sharing your recipe. Wendy
  12. I was having trouble with my computer with my computer when I was replying. I must have hit quote and not realized it. I'm sure I will like it. I really enjoy fritatas. Wendy
  13. Sounds awesome, I can't wait to try it. Thank you for sharing this.
  14. This makes sense to me. I did have a negative celiac panel test. I have a little sister that was diagnosed as a celiac at a year old. She went down to Florida to visit my Mom. She noticed that my Mom had bad gas and told her that it smelled like celiac. This was after toast for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch. I also wonder about my father, he was...
  15. I know for me that my immune system has improved immensely since going gluten free. I do have a problem with many medications. The last time that I was into the doctor for a sinus infection, he did give me a lower dose of antibiotics. I still ended up having a reaction. He does agree that the reactions that I have had have been because it was too much...
  16. Dear Ursa, Thanks for the information. I am in the USA, so would have to order 12 loaves. I wonder if any stores carry it in Windsor, Ontario. My Mom will be coming up from Florida to Michigan and then goes across the border to Windsor to visit relatives. My husband picked up a buckwheat pancake mix somewhere that is delicious. I just used it to coat...
  17. Thank you for the information. I found it very interesting. I am sure that I have other food allergies. I have been debating about getting testing for these and now I am going to. I do believe a lot of my problems could have been avoided if I had been tested when my little sister was diagnosed with celiac disease at a year old. I had hay fever as a...
  18. I didn't officially get diagnosed with asthma until my 40's. I do think I had it earlier in my life. I had hayfever as a child. I will say that my asthma has greatly improved since I went gluten free. I am 53 years old now and went gluten free January 1, 2007. I take Singulair for my asthma and don't have to use my rescue inhaler too often. They expire...
  19. I've been wondering about drug absorption. I went to my doctor with a sinus infection. He gave my doxycyl. He did give me a lower dose because he does agree that I absorb medicines strange. I finished the 10 day dose. That night I had a drug reaction, so I went in thinking it had to be from Motrin. The doctor said it was from the antiobiotic. He did...
  20. That's how I felt when I first read about them. I even went as far as writing to General Mills thanking them for making my day.
  21. It seems like they might have had one on the General Mills site under the chex recipes. Seems like they used it for breading too.
  22. I had a negative blood test, but tried the diet anyways. I really think I have DH, so I'm not sure that the blood test would have confirmed that. I had many symptoms dissapear after I went gluten free. I was just at my doctor and at least now he agrees that my immune system is working. If you have stuck with the diet for this long, hasn't it helped some...
  23. I would suggest just baking gluten free brownies next time. Breathing in the gluten from the flour or brownie mix flying is like eating it. I did make my husband a pecan pie, but used a ready made crust and wore gloves to put it in the pan. That is as far as I will go with gluten baking. I will say that my husband is slowly coming around and does try...
