  1. I thought this recipe looked interesting, but I'm not sure about saffron threads or what you could use in place of them. (Any ideas?) ALMOND SLICES (makes 8) 3 eggs 2/3 oz. ground almonds 7 oz. dried milk 7 oz. sugar 1/2 tsp. saffron threads 3 1/2 oz. unsalted butter flaked almonds to decorate 1. Beat the eggs together in a bowl and set aside. ...
  2. Waldorf salad, chop one delicious apple, 1 stalk of celery, chopped walnuts or pecans and mix with mayonaise or yogurt. You could add turkey or use other fruits.
  3. I did make a crustless cheesecake that my husband liked. I may have gotten one piece now that I think about it. I guess I figure that it won't kill him to eat a gluten free dinner. He can get his gluten in the other meals. Oh well.
  4. If you can eat eggs and cheese, a fritata makes a great breakfast. You can even make them ahead of time and reheat in the oven. I used 4 eggs, 1 cup of milk, chopped ham, and cheese. You can use spinach, brocoli, any vegie you want. I baked them at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. A knife should be clean to test. I poured them in 3 bowls. You can...
  5. Good for you. Actually pumpkin custard sounds good to me. I think I did okay today eating at the family's house. I had limited choices because they werent' cooking for me. I did make a gluten free turkey dinner here yesterday. I had to come home to eat turkey and gravy. I took a waldorf salad with me which I ate the most of.
  6. Interesting question. I did go through the adult acne bit in my 40's. I just went gluten free the beginning of the year. Now that you mention it, I haven't been having that problem.
  7. I feel for you. I have been through many vicious cycles of itching, rashes, blisters. What led me to the DH were 2 biopsies. I also had it in the vaginal area. They came back eczema and spongiotic dermatitis. I do have a little sister that was diagnosed at a year old. I wonder about my parents too. I did have a negative blood test, but I had been...
  8. I decided to make a Thanksgiving dinner yesterday so I can enjoy it. I made a turkey with gluten free stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, waldorf salad, chocolate covered strawberries and tapioca pudding. My husband did eat the gravy but didn't try the stuffing. The kids ate it with no problem. He asked if the tapioca pudding was gluten free...
  9. You mentioned that your first blood test was positive. I would say a positive blood test is good enough for a diagnosis. I do hope that you are feeling better soon. I had negative blood work and went gluten free with positive results.
  10. I'm with you on that one too. I have a little health food store nearby. They are really big on vitamins. They don't have a huge gluten free section, but the flours and mixes they carry are so much cheaper. Each time I go in they seem to have a little more gluten free products.
  11. All I know is that I don't want to itch like that again. I can think of at least 6 bouts of the most horrible itching. I even landed in the hospital one of the times. I was covered from head to foot with a rash. They said it was an allergic drug reaction, but they didn't know to what. I have had many weird reactions to medication and wonder could it...
  12. Pecans are gluten free. Keep reading way below the ingredients. I had some that said may contain wheat, etc. that I had bought and I did get sick.
  13. It must be pretty recent, I just bought a box and mine doesn't say gluten-free.
  14. Yes you can use rice flour in gravy. I've had great luck doing that.
  15. Maybe you could make barbecue sauce from scratch.
  16. I know what you mean about work. I am a bank teller at a drive in. I was off yesterday and came into today to find the person who worked in my window's gluten hand lotion. I'm sure she used it all day. I was wiping down anything I thought she touched. Is it asking too much to ask my coworkers to not use lotion that contains gluten? I suppose I could...

    ARCHIVED Shampoo

Before going gluten free, I had a horrble time with shampoo, body wash, etc. It got to the point just about anything I used itched. I'm sure gluten was the problem. I was cleaning out my collection the other day and found a bottle of Clinique shampoo. I had quit using it because it burned my scalp. I should have taken the stuff back. I read the ingredients...
  18. My dear son works at a pizza place. He comes home and plunks down at the computer. When he was done, I did clean the desk, mouse, keyboard, chair, etc. We were talking in the kitchen and I saw him lean his hand on my coffee cup. I got a new cup for my coffee. As I was sitting here later, I'm feeling glutened. I looked and somehow I was back to the cup...
  19. I saw a recipe for green bean casserole and they used carmelized onions instead of the French's onion rings.
  20. Thank you that sounds delicious.
  21. That does sound yummy. Thank You
  22. I do know the white spots can be caused from taking a certain antibiotic when the teeth are coming in. This happened to my daughter's two front teeth.
  23. Thanks for the list. I had posted one on here a while ago. I have noticed that they have a lot of new products. I have been using the Intensive Healing Lotion and I'm almost out. I haven't seen it in the stores, so I'm wondering if they discontinued it. It has been the only lotion that my body could handle. Do they have any gluten free lotions now...
  24. I know over the years when I had my itchy spells, it seemed once I was like this, it took forever to get back on track. Things that normally didn't bother me did. I hope that you are feeling better soon.
  25. I know that Iam's dry food is all gluten free. I wish the dog biscuits were too.
