ARCHIVED How Long Before You See Results From gluten-free Diet?
wowzer replied to Kara'sMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I think if your daughter is hungry all of the time, that is a good sign. That was one of the things that I noticed when I first went gluten free. I was feeling pretty good after about 2 weeks. Everyone is different. I noticed some improvements in the first couple of days. Since it is a different way of eating, I sometimes don't know what to eat... -
I went gluten free the beginning of this year. I had been diagnosed with eczema, then spongiotic dermatitis in the vaginal area. I really think it was DH. I had blistery rashes in my underarms and forearms for months. I had big eczema patches. It seemed like everything was itching. Even though my bloodwork had come back negative, I went gluten free...

ARCHIVED This Is How I'm Hosting My First gluten-free Thanksgiving
wowzer replied to FootballFanatic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You can also use carmelized onions on the top for green bean casserole. -
Your son is absolutely adorable. I love the name too. You must be so proud. Thank you for sharing.

Glad to hear you quit smoking, I'm still working on that one. I know for me going gluten free, now if I accidentally consume it, I am much more sensitive. Definitely the body is saying I don't like this. I do think mine was set off because of auto immune. I have been on synthroid for close to 20 years. I am still working on the CC issues. I hope you...

ARCHIVED New To This Forum & I Need Personal Advice
wowzer replied to Squeak's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know everyone has to find what works for them. Both of my children had problems when they were little. For my daughter apricots were the key. For my son my pediatrician said a mixture of blueberries, watermelon, cantelope. I know too much watermelon will do it for me. Plums worked better for my son than prunes. For me my morning coffee usually does... -
I have been trying to tell my husband that our teflon is not safe. Of course I got the lecture on how they are made and that nothing can possibly stick to them. Even if they are scratched it still is coated all the way through he tells me that is right from the manufacturer. He does pretty well cooking gluten free. Has decided even that brown rice flour...

ARCHIVED Rash On Face Due To celiac disease?
wowzer replied to mamaloca2's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Sounds like my forehead. I'm sure I am getting CC somehow. If my son didn't work in 2 pizza places, it sure would make my life easier. I just realized he plunks down at the computer when he gets home from work. I now am cleaning the desk, keyboard, mouse and chair before I get on it. We are going to have another talk here. -
My son leaves me a gluten trail I'm sure. He came home from work (Little Caesar's) covered in flour and plunked himself down at our computer. Grrrrr. I have asked him to go downstairs and change, shower, etc. So now I have to clean my computer desk, mouse and keyboard. Time to have another talk I know. I wonder how many times I've been glutened from...

I wouldn't wait. The jabbing pain could also be a kidney stone.

ARCHIVED To Tell My Doctor, Or Not Tell My Doctor
wowzer replied to Greeneyes4950's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Since your doctor mentioned celiac disease, I would let them know about your lab results. After months of itching, and 2 biopsies (one came back eczema and the second spongiotic dermatitis). The natural cure was the gluten free diet. I really think it was DH, but the biopsy the gynecologist took probably didn't even check for that. I brought up my symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Endocrine Disorders - Thyroid, Adrenal, Etc
wowzer replied to Nyxie63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My body quit aching. I thought that I had arthritis 20 years ago. I had been taking arthritis medicine for years. I actually stopped taking it when Mobic turned generic. I reacted to the generic form for some reason. Unless I get glutened I don't have the body stiffness. I have been on synthroid for years. I did ask my doctor if it had changed and... -
Salads can be a great meal. Check your salad dressing and make sure it is gluten free. It will get easier. Wendy

I've had great luck with the St Ives Intensive Healing Lotion. It is unscented and hypo allergenic. -
ARCHIVED Need Cereal Similar To Kashi Brand
wowzer replied to Lexie73's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My favorite cereal before going gluten free was Kashi Strawberry Fields. The closest that I have found to it is Erewhon Chrisp Brown Rice with Mixed Berries. It's like why does Kashi have to put the wheat in that one? -
ARCHIVED Candida Or Celiac Need Help! My Short Story
wowzer replied to phoenix99's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have read posts on here about getting candida after going gluten free. I keep fighting that battle. I took a diflocan on Wednesday and didn't wake up with so much of that yucky mucous. It just seems it never ends for me. -
I have used a brown rice wrap to make a pizza. It ends up being a crispy crust.

I used to get that reaction before going gluten free. I don't miss it either. -
ARCHIVED How Many Have Self Diagnosed Celiacs?
wowzer replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am self diagnosed. My bloodwork came back negative. I have had many positive results going gluten free and now small amounts of gluten make me feel miserable. I also have a little sister that was diagnosed with celiac disease at a year old. I suspect other family members have it and were never diagnosed. -
ARCHIVED Atopic Eczema And Celiac Disease
wowzer replied to Krystens mummy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dermatitis herpetiformis is still celiac disease. I went through months of itchy rashes, some blistery, big eczema patches. My blood work did come back negative. I tried the gluten free diet and all the rashes and eczema went away. Milk and wheat allergies can cause eczema along with many other things. It is possible to have false negative bloodwork... -
I survived my daughter, but I sure remember those days. I lucked out my daughter and son were 77 years apart, so I had 14 solid teenage years!!! I do remember deciding if it was even safe to say "Good Morning" without getting my head chewed off. I tried to sense the mood and go with the flow. They really do get over it, they just can't help themselves...

ARCHIVED Glutened... But No Idea How And When?
wowzer replied to shimo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have had great luck with my pharmacist checking. I had her check 2 different ones. They told her they couldn't guarantee they weren't gluten free on one which I quit taking. The other was a cream that I was using for the itching and they said it wouldn't matter being a cream. The pharmacist checked further and did find out that it was safe to use. -
Alex, That is such an upsetting remark from your doctor. I know it is so frustrating. I now have an ex gynocologist myself, but for a different reason. To make a long story short, I have MRKH (no uterus). I was having problems which ended up being DH. I went in for itching and he said poison ivy. He made the remark to me that I'll never have another...

ARCHIVED Glutened... But No Idea How And When?

It wouldn't hurt to check the medication and make sure that it is gluten free. The pharmisist can do it for you or you can check www.glutenfreedrugs.com -
ARCHIVED Top Three Suggestions For A New Gluten Free Girl?
wowzer replied to aeshlea's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
1) Check your cosmetics, soap, body wash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner. Many of them contain gluten. I discovered 3 weeks into gluten free that my chapstick had gluten. 2) If you are on any regular medication, make sure it is gluten free. 3) Look forward to how much better you will feel going gluten free.
