  1. Thanks for the great idea. I used Fearns brown rice baking mix and brown rice flour. I added the spices I used to use to make fried chicken. I dipped mine in buttermilk and then coated them. I baked them in olive and oil and butter. It is the best I've had since going gluten free.
  2. Dear Ursa, That cake looks awesome. I haven't ventured into cake baking since I went gluten free. I have had great luck with muffins using Fearns brown rice baking mix. I've did have great success converting my alltime favortie molasses cookies into gluten free. I still want to master shortbread if anyone has managed that one. I'm sure that everyone...

  5. It is a good point you brought up. I read quite a bit about sulfites thinking that was my problem. I am allergic to sulfa drugs. I have always had a strange reaction to wine. I remember reading about sulfites. It is naturally in many foods, so it can be really hard to avoid.
  6. I had negative blood work, but tried the gluten free diet. I had some DH symptoms and neuropathy that went away when I went gluten free. I had been itching for almost a whole year. If the diet is working stick with it.
  7. I'm not sure my husband will ever understand. He does try, but I'm still working on the CC with him. We just celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary on the 14th. He went on the computer looking for gluten free menus at restaurants. We ate at Carraba's. The waiter assured me that everything I ordered would be marked gluten free. I have only been gluten...

  13. My eczema finally went away when I went gluten free. I'm 52 years old and went gluten free the beginning of the year. I grew up with a celiac sister, so I was eating at least gluten light for my teenage years. I ended up with adult acne. I'm sure it probably was due to gluten. I used to have the itchy scalp and always itched after a shower. I thought...

  16. I've had good luck baking cookies. I've used a couple of gluten free recipes from this site. I've also converted some of my old favorites. One I'm pleased to say my Mom couldn't tell the difference. I've also had great luck with muffins using Fearns brown rice baking mix. For cookies it seems to work best if I mix 3 different flours.
  17. The Dairy Queen has quite a long list of gluten free ice cream and food.
  18. I have done some gluten baking because my husband complained that I never baked until I went gluten free. I am afraid of using flour because breathing it in almost seems like eating it to me. I decided to use a ready made crust and made a pecan pie. I just made sure I washed my hands, etc. after. I have also done the cookies you just put on the sheet...
  19. I don't know why I got the chapped lips now, I haven't been out in the sun. I was just thinking, the tube I opened came in a cute little kit. Maybe it is older and could contain wheat. I had bought a tube this winter that I was using with no problem.
  20. I didn't share it with anyone. I can't believe that I have chapped lips in the middle of summer. Maybe I have an issue with soy. Thanks for the replies. I'm just getting frustrated here.

  25. I haven't totally figured out what is a typical gluten reaction. I haven't had what happened the other night that bad since going gluten free. Before I went off gluten it happened all of the time. It was one of the first symptoms to disappear. I originally went gluten free, because I thought many of the rashes I've had over the years could be DH. I do...
