  1. The danish and the pie sound wonderful. I've been making muffins and cookies so far.
  2. I did become more sensitive to gluten after going gluten free. I guess it is your body reminding you it doesnt' like it. Not fun I know, but seems to be the way.
  3. I've always had very sensitive skin. I'm thinking now it's been from gluten. My skin has improved so much since going gluten free. It does make you wonder why they have to put gluten in so much. I did read somewhere that people with any autoammune disorder should be allergy tested also. I talked to my doctor about the RAST test. He gave me the list...

    ARCHIVED Thyroid

I was wondering after going gluten free, does it change test results on the thyroid. I originally was put on it about 20 years ago for a goiter. I'm wondering now if I was absorbing it before going gluten free. I guess I'll find out from my next blood test which is due in a few weeks. I had been on estrodiol for 7 years and went off of it cold turkey...
  5. The more that I read about celiac disease, the more I wonder why some doctor didn't catch mine before I figured it out. I have had so many symptoms on that list. By the way that was a nice find. Even though I had a negative blood test, my family doctor agrees that I could have celiac. In my case DH, but the cure is the same anyways. I am amazed how many...
  6. I'm wondering if maybe the flour in the air got to you. I'm sure breathing it in could maybe be kind of like eating it. You'll have to start having them do gluten free bread. That is really great that you mentor young girls in cooking. Sounds like you should ban gluten from your kitchen. I wish you luck.
  7. I had that burning the first couple of weeks when I went gluten free. I also noticed that once I went gluten free, I became more sensitive to gluten. Come to find out I was using a lip gloss that wasnt' gluten free. Dont' forget to check your lotion, soap, cosmetics, etc. Also check medications that you are on. It turned out I was on one they couldn...
  8. Hi, I'm 52 years old. I went gluten free the beginning of the year. I did have a negative blood test. I do have a little sister that is a celiac. I really thought I had DH. I did have 2 biopsies, but they probably werent' looking for that. One came back eczema and the other spongiotic dermatitis. I had been plagued with all sorts of rashes and itching...
  9. I would think the 504 plan could be a good way to handle celiac disease. You always meet with the teachers and principal. This gives you a chance to explain what can cause your child problems. My children had milk allergies, which I clearly stated on their cards. I don't know how many times they came home from school and had eaten ice cream, pudding,...

    ARCHIVED Wow!

Welcome, I know the feeling. So many symptoms that I have complained or had over the years. It does help knowing what the cause is. I think that going gluten free isn't so bad when it makes you feel better. Take care and I hope that you feel better soon.
  11. Also try Mucinex. You can buy it over the counter, it is on the gluten free drug list. It helps to thin the mucous so you can get it out. I've had great luck using this. The salt water spray helps too.
  12. Thank you for your reply. My doctor told me they weren't anything to worry about. My left eye lid always gets blisters if I get glutened. Aggravating to say the least. Nice to know they can do something for it too. Not sure I would, but thank you.
  13. A lot of Burt's Bees products are gluten free. I've seen a post of all the ones that are on this site.
  14. I have a had sinus infections with no drainage from my nose, but down the back of my throat. I ended up having mucus plugs way up in my sinuses. Since I don't tolerate decongestants well, I took anitobiotics and Mucinex. (It's over the counter). Now that I've went gluten free, my sinuses have improved. Even got a cold that didn't turn into an infection...

    ARCHIVED Bread

Cheating is a no no. I have a little sister that was diagnosed at a year with celiac. I think when she was a teenager they thought she was in remission. She was always anemic, started her period very late, had mono. She is now 45 years old and has persnicity anemia, fibromyalgia, thyroid, arthritis. She is lucky she had a healthy baby at 38 years old...
  16. My original name from euchre at Playsite. My stepfather thought up the name.
  17. I'm glad to hear that all is okay. Take care of yourself and your baby. Take it easy.

    ARCHIVED Blisters

My skin gets the crawly feeling if I get glutened. I can feel a blister before it breaks outs. It is a kind of itchy burny feeling. I don't seem to itch as bad from them now that I've been gluten free since the beginning of the year. I'm not sure if that makes the difference or not. A year ago, I had blisters for months. Was told it was poison ivy,...
  19. I just about did that recently too. But you say the dark and the caramels are okay?
  20. I know spotting can be for many reasons. Sometimes a piece of uterine tissue will just shed and it's no big deal. My daughter had it happen in her first pregnancy. For her it was because she has a bicornate uterus. She is pregnant with her third now and everything was fine. By all means call your doctor just for your own piece of mind. Keep us posted...
  21. Has anyone else tried these? When I eat them it leaves an oily like feeling in my mouth. They look pretty close to a regular hot dog bun even.
  22. My husband loves to eat the ribs at this restaurant. I asked the waitress what was gluten free. She immediately said plain chicken. She then said let me check. She came back and said the ribs were also safe and the barbecued chicken. I got a combo of the ribs and chicken with a baked potato. I avoided the cole slaw and asked for no bread. It's the...
  23. We have a llewellin setter and an English setter. The llewellin feels like a rabbit. In the Winter we add a little oil to her food to help her coat. That is what the vet told us to do. They are bird hunting dogs. Always fun to comb out the llewellin after a hunting trip. Hours getting those burrs out. The English setter is only 5 months so don't know...

    ARCHIVED Blisters

That is the truth. I get them along my lower left eyelid from traces of gluten. They are so annoying. I went through a stage of what they called adult acne a few years back. I never had a problem as a teenager. It sure make one feel ugly when Dh has to pick the face.

    ARCHIVED Blisters

I seem to get them mostly just under my nose. But any where on the face is a drag. Of course I'm sure everyone thinks I have herpes, but did test negative for that. Seems to take a good 2 weeks for it to disappear and then leaves a purple mark. Nothing seems to really help it heal that I've found.
