ARCHIVED Almay Makeup Update
wowzer replied to UNCHeel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You got a more honest one than I did. I discovered the body wash that I was using contained gluten. They wrote me back and said they didn't see a problem since I wouldn't be consuming it. It sure is frustrating. -
Your story reminds me a lot of my son. He is now 20 years old. I never got a diagnosis other than improper toilet training. He is adopted with an Irish background. I hope your find the answer to your son's problem soon. Good Luck

ARCHIVED Celiac Specialties
wowzer posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had to go into work early for a meeting this morning. It is actually my day off. I decided to drive to Celiac Specialties after the meeting. I got some soft frosted sugar cookies. (Remind me of those Lofthouse ones). I also picked up a loaf of cheddar herb bread. I made a meat loaf sandwich on it for lunch and it was pretty good. Wendy -
ARCHIVED How Long?
wowzer replied to yellowbird22's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It is great you are feeling better. I think it was a couple of weeks after going gluten free that the circles under my eyes disappeared. It was kind of funny, someone told me I looked well rested. I had a lot of trouble sleeping before and when I first went gluten free. Give it time, so much has to heal. My skin was finally not so dry after 3 months... -
ARCHIVED Office/work Places Glutenings!
wowzer replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm sure that it could easily happen. I don't even put my lunch in the fridge at work. But to lay a sandwich on a germy desk, YUCK! I work in a bank and we serve cookies and coffee to our customers. I get to work the lobby one day a week, so I'm sure the customers get me with their crumbs. The rest of the time I'm on the drive in so much safer. -

wowzer replied to wowzer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I guess you either love or hate the taste of black licorice. I always look forward to the black jelly beans every Easter. So far I've only found gluten ones. I'll just have to get those Jelly Bellies to take care of the craving! -

ARCHIVED Black Jelly Beans
wowzer replied to wowzer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you for your help on the jelly beans. Sorry I'm not an alum from Maine. Wendy Happy Easter -
I think I may have been set off by a rotovirus. I also had a lot of joint pain. I also have the yeast problem going on since going gluten free. One of the first things I noticed going gluten free is I felt calmer. It is also possible that you aren't absorbing the drugs properly too. I think many more symptoms are connected with celiac than you can imagine...

Don't forget to check your other medications too. You can go to glutenfreedrugs.com and check. I just found out I was taking one for three months that may contain gluten. I quit taking it and and I noticed my skin doesn't seem as dry. Since it was my estodiol, I'm hoping the night sweats won't come back because of hormones though. Keep up the good work...

Thanks for even more ideas. I'll have to get adventurous on my next shopping trip.

ARCHIVED Black Jelly Beans
wowzer posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It's Easter and I always look forward to the black jelly beans. I was wondering if anyone knows of any gluten free ones? -
Thanks for all the suggestions. I will have to try them. I was wondering if yogurt is okay. I was eating at least one a day and kind of stopped. I did start eating it again this week. I also realized that my breakfast bars I was eating had gluten.
-
I like it too. Could always put SH for second hand!

Mand, That makes sense about not absorbing medicine properly. I went on the gluten free diet the beginning of the year. I'm hoping the diflocan worked. I stopped eating yogurt for awhile. I am now trying to eat a yogurt a day. I have read that it is common for this to happen after going gluten free. I have had so many weird drug reactions over the...

You are right I'm a female. I don't use panty liners. He did take a culture. The itching has seem to have gone, so I'm hoping the diflocan worked. I so hate take medicine.

I went to the doctor on Monday. I have a yeast infection. He gave me diflocan which I took on Monday. Today I notice a rash on the inside of my legs. It doesn't itch. Could this be from the yeast or an allergic reaction to the medicine. I feel like I'm going in circles. He did give me a prescription for something else, if the diflocan didn't work....

ARCHIVED First Post, Questions About The Severity/commonality Of My Symptoms
wowzer replied to atflyaway's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your picture is beautiful. I hope you get your results soon. Eczema can also be helped by a gluten free diet. Mine went away when I went gluten free. Milk can also be the cause of eczema too. I wish you luck. -
ARCHIVED New Symptoms
wowzer replied to katieanne's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been gluten free since the first of the year. I felt great after a couple of weeks also. I did go through a tired streak for a few weeks. I keep finding things that I've been eating that have gluten. So many things to watch for. I've had a few setbacks and am still seeing other improvements. I guess we all have to live and learn. Don't forget... -
P&G Pet Care Update March 30, 2007 I went to the Iams website and found this information: As promised, we are continuing to keep you updated on the Menu Foods recall. We know the Menu Foods recall has caused concern, frustration and anger among many pet lovers, including many of our own employees and their families. We want you to know that we...

ARCHIVED Maybe I'm Not Doing As Bad As I Thought
wowzer posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had started itching again and figured I was somehow getting gluten. It turned out I have a yeast infection. I'm not thrilled with that idea of course. I've been gluten free since the beginning or the year. I'm finally seeing that my skin isn't so dry now. -
ARCHIVED What Is The Best Gluten Free Flour?
wowzer replied to JennyC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you like muffins, I'm having good luck with Fearns brown rice baking mix. I did find that you need to add a little more sweetner than they called for. I have made blueberry, then cranberry and my latest creation was maple syrup, cinnamon and pecans. -
I'm sure that I have other food intolerances besides gluten. I thought I'd try dairy free. I am not a milk drinker. I do love cream in my coffee, so I guess I'll have to learn how to love Coffeemate. But what do you use for butter? I don't like the taste of margarine here. I'm also not so sure Coffeemate is so great either.

ARCHIVED More Gluten Sensative Since Going Gluten Free?
wowzer replied to Joanne11's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That happened to me also. Our bodies are telling us that it is poison to us.
