  1. I admit I don't have as good a memory as I used to. I did notice a lot of the brain fog lifted when I first went gluten free the beginning of the year. For some reason I feel really dopey when I first wake up. This has just been happening the last few weeks. Sometimes I think our brains go on overload when we get stressed. Going gluten free has relieved...
  2. Wow, that reminds me of my father. I remember when I was young he had surgery on his wrist and broke out in a bad rash. Maybe he went all his life undiagnosed as a celiac. My little sister was diaganosed at a year old. I'm thinking all the rashes that I had over the years were actually DH. It sure sounds like you had a horrible time. Thanks for the...
  3. You can get gluten free bars, fruit, vegies, yogurt, cheese, make some trail mix.
  4. It is a possibility that it is celiac. You could try going gluten free and see if you get some relief. I had negative blood tests, but decided to try the diet the first of the year. It got rid of a lot of the itchiness. I had the same problem with sleep, now I've been sleeping through the night more. My sinuses even improved. I have found that I'm more...
  5. Welcome and glad to hear that the gluten free diet is making you feel better.
  6. I got the almond ones and the hazelnut ones. They have a light taste. I tried the almond ones. It is definitely a rice cracker. I couldn't taste the almonds. It took care of my salt craving anyway.
  7. It will get easier. I did post a recipe for a cheesecake with no crust. If you are interested let me know I can always post it again. Try to focus on what you can eat instead of what you can't. Good Luck Wendy
  8. I bought a couple boxes of these crackers. They were in the gluten free area at my Meijer's. The box even says they are Proud sponsors of the Celiac Disease Foundation. Underneath the ingredients it says produced in a facility that also makes products containing: wheat, soy, pecans, and hazelnuts. What do you think of this? A little contradicting if...
  9. I seem to get it in the crack along with the female area. I have been tested for herpes, etc. Over the years I've had many itchy rashes, even landed in the hospital covered from head to foot and they didn't catch it. I finally googled rashes and the more I looked at the DH rashes, it looked like many of my breakouts. I'm 52 now. I have a little sister...

    ARCHIVED Dermatologist

Hi Amber, An allergist may be my next step. I actually had the biopsies done by my gynecologist, but after I got the results, I thought a dermatologist would help. Of course when I went Monday, the blister was gone. I had been given a prescription for prednisone cream. It does stop the itching, but I don't think steroids are the best to use all the time...

    ARCHIVED Clueless

After my Applebee's dining experience yesterday, I thought I would call to complain. They don't expect anyone to know. If you call them (888-59APPLE) they will check anything on the menu and let you know what has wheat in it. Not a total answer to gluten. If you think about it, there are warnings about allergies written on the bottom of the menu. I think...
  12. Maybe going gluten free will solve your pain problem. If it does why eat gluten?

    ARCHIVED Clueless

Went to dinner at Applebee's. The waitress was totally clueless about gluten free. She asked the manager and he was too. It's my husband's favorite place to eat. It never has been one of mine. I guess we all live and learn.
  14. I was wondering if anyone knows about patch testing? How good are the results? I went to the dermatologist and she said that may solve what is causing my problems. I'm not so sure they scheduled me for it yet, but I do have another appointment in a month. The office was a zoo of course. Took so long to get in, couldn't wait to get out of there. And...
  15. Very interesting and makes sense to me. I've always had some kind of allergies going on. Aeresol sprays will put me into an asthma attack.
  16. You have to give your guy credit for trying to take you places where he feels it's safe for you to eat. The hardest part is getting everyone to understand. I grew up with a little sister that was diagnosed at a year old. I'm 52 now and just went on the gluten free diet the beginning of the year. Even I didn't realize how much there is to the diet. It...
  17. I finally made an appointment with a dermatologist. I'm not sure if it will give me the answer that I'm looking for or not. After 2 biopsies from my gynecologist, one came back eczema and the other spongiotic dermatitis. I have been gluten free since the beginning of the year and the itching is much more under control. I still must be missing something...
  18. Welcome Serah, I'm sure it will get easier for you. I have only been gluten free since the beginning of the year. I have had many improvements since then. The more I read on this site, the more symptoms I found that I've had for years and not known why. Good Luck, Wendy
  19. I have been following the gluten free diet since the beginning of the year. My husband even had the most awesome gluten cheesecake baked by a chef for me for Valentine's Day. I know I'm still missing some things. My son works at a pizza place. I'm trying to figure out how his flour coated clothes are getting me. I try to avoid touching them even, but...
  20. Thanks for the info on the crackers. I haven't tried any of those yet. I've tried a couple different kinds of bread so far and haven't been too impressed. I'll have to try crackers. Thank You
  21. Ice cream is my favorite snack before bedtime. My favorite is Stroh's caramel nut cluster, but they can't guarantee about CC. Edy's web site lists many gluten free ice creams. So I have been buying them lately.
  22. Have a great time. Such a nice birthday present for your daughter to see her Mom. Enjoy yourself.
  23. That is a symptom that I had for years. At one point thought it was my mattress. It seems if I can sleep 8 hours I wake up in more pain. I can't take tylenol, so I take Mobic (prescription) or ibuprofen. I'm not sure if it's better to get sleep, now it seems hands and feet ache, or less sleep and less pain. I'm not sure if maybe I'm getting gluten and...
  24. Sometimes eating the same thing over and over can become an allergy to it. What about sulfites? They can have that reaction also. I at one point thought that was what all my problems were caused from. I still can't handle them. Wine makes me crazy for one. Just a thought. Hope you figure it out.
  25. It sure sounds frustrating. The only thing I can see maybe is the one medication you are pretty sure to be gluten free? I would make absolutely sure that it is. Good Luck
