  1. This makes sense to me. I was a late bloomer. I was always the smallest person almost all the way through school. Finally I hit 5 feet when I started high school. I grew until I was 18 and made it to 5'4". My little sister whom was diagnosed at a year, was the same way.
  2. What about having your thyroid checked? That can be a symtom.

    ARCHIVED Dh

The only thing I've found that gives any relief to the itch has been a pure prednisone cream that my doctor prescribed.
  4. I didn't realize that celiac and asthma are linked. I have asthma. I do take Singulair to prevent it and airborne allergies. We went to the dog show this weekend, I brought my rescue inhaler thinking I may need it, but didn't have to use it. Gluten free must be helping that too.
  5. NoGluGirl, Thanks for posting such a nice list. I'm still learning myself.
  6. Jesse, If you have been gluten free for that long a blood test would come back negative. From all those symptoms you explained, it sounds like it could be DH. I had a negative blood test too. I really thought my symptoms fit DH. I finally went gluten free the beginning of this year. I have a little sister that was diagnosed at a year with celiac. I...
  7. I had a conversation with my husband about gluten being in our teflon pans. He works for a food and equipment distributor. He claims it is impossible. He has dealt with health departments about pizza pans being scratched which they say could cause bacteria. The manufacturer claims even if it is a scratch you see there still is teflon there. I searched...

    ARCHIVED Confused

Celiac is an autoimmune disease and so is thyroid. I don't have an official celiac diagnosis. I have been tested for lupus, herpes, all sorts of things. All my tests came out negative. I have had so many extremely itchy rashes and finally when I saw DH a light bulb came on. I went gluten free the beginning of the year and it has helped a lot of my symptoms...
  9. You know I get that kind of sun burn feeling just below my neck on my chest. I never thought of it as being a gluten symtom. I've only been gluten free since the beginning of the year. I'm trying to be so careful, but I have to be missing something. I seem to be more sensitive to even a small amount.
  10. We can hope since General Mills is making more gluten free cereals that maybe it will rub off on the other ones. Probably wishful thinking. I'm not one for sweet cereals. I did buy some Ewehorn rice krispie like cereal with dried blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. It is a tiny bit sweet , but the closest I've come to my favorite Kashi Strawberry...
  11. Well I hope they are gluten-free. You can always make rice krispie treats. Maybe they will be good for that. Then maybe it will be a GFGF (gluten free good food!!!!)
  12. I wondered about that one too. It was my first trip to Whole Foods and I was a little overwhelmed. I was after granola bars and bread. I don't eat a lot of cold cereal. I'm more of a snacker when I get to work. I'm hoping you stumbled on to a great find.
  13. Hi Crystal, I'm not sure about the protein powders. You can check out Edy's ice cream website. They have low fat ice creams and also frozen yogurt. Most of them are gluten free unless they have cookies, brownies, or cookie dough in them. Good Luck
  14. Hi Elizabeth, I don't blame you for being mad. You could say if you want me to take my turn than everyone needs to bring something that you can also eat. That would be the only fair way for you. I know how you feel, where I work when it's your birthday you get to pick what you want. I pay my $2.00 every pay to this fund and then can't eat most anything...
  15. Dear Dessa, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It is very hard to lose a dear friend. A friend wrote these words to my husband after his father died. I found a kind of peace from these words. "Her work on earth was done and now she is in a better place." Cherish the happy memories in your heart that you had with your friend. Take Care...
  16. I've always weighed between 99-102. I'm 52 years old now. I started the gluten free diet the beginning of the year and I'm up to 108. I'm 5'4". I do think as you heal your body will absorb the nutrients better and it will just happen. Good luck
  17. You said the blood test was positive for celiac. I would go with that. See if the gluten free diet helps you.
  18. Thank you for posting it again. I can't wait to try them. Probably why I couldn't find it I was ready to cook dinner and in a hurry. I made burgers on the grill tonight and grilled a piece of gluten free bread. It was ok, but I really like the sound of these buns. I will be sure to add it to my recipe file. Thanks again.
  19. I remember seeing a recipe for buns using cottage cheese on here. I finally have the ingredients and can't find the recipe.
  20. What you went through sounds truly horrible. At least they figured out what you had. The more I think of it now, when I first read what happened to you it reminded me of a reaction my Dad had after surgery. It makes me realize that celiac could have run on both sides of my family. My little sister was diagnosed at a year. My mother said she had an uncle...
  21. I checked my medications, but not my inhaler. I use the MaxAir inhaler, but only as needed. I don't use it too often and they quit making it
  22. There isn't a rush to start solid foods. I waited until my son was 9 months old. The doctor told me that there is enough nutrition in formula for them to grow until they are 4 years old. Some say that if you have an allergic child you should wait until they are a year old to feed them solids. Good Luck
  23. This whole mess started for me about a year ago. I thought I had a yeast infection that I couldn't get rid of. I had 2 biopsies, one showed eczema and the other spongiotic dermatitis (They don't know what you have) I have had many very itchy rashes and when I saw some pictures I really thought it was DH. My blood work came back negative, but I decided...
  24. I don't know that the gluten free diet is a total sinus cure. I have to say it did help mine. My doctor was amazed when he saw the inside of my nose not bright red after only two weeks on the gluten free diet. He said stay on it for 3 months. Also I could finally breath through both sides of my nose and my ear that is always clogged is finally clearing...
