I got so excited when I got my first box of gluten free Rice Chex. I checked out the recipes on the site, so got the wheels turning here. I had a bag of Kraft strawberry marshmallows. I used the Rice Chex and the marshmallows and made "rice chex treats" I have used other gluten free cereals, but the Rice Chex have a better taste. They have so many...

ARCHIVED Dark Circles Under Eyes And celiac disease?
wowzer replied to motif's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That was a symptom I probably had all of my life. It went away shortly after I went gluten free. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it or not. -
Hi Jerry, It sounds like he just doesn't want to admit you are right. I have a little sister that is a diagnosed celiac from a year old. Of course, the doctors then told my parents that she would outgrow it. I think she started eating gluten around 13 years old. Eventually she found out that wasn't true. She has a long list of health problems including...

ARCHIVED Candida?
wowzer replied to curlyfries's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am battling candida here too. I'm wondering if the citric acid is getting you. If I ingest too much I get a sore throat and sometimes blisters. -

ARCHIVED The False Negative
wowzer replied to jmcbride4291's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My blood test came back negative, but I decided to try the diet anyway. I had 2 biopsies, one came back eczema and the other spongiotic dermatiits (they don't know what it is). When I looked up the natural cure for the spongiotic dermatitis, it was the gluten free diet. The more I read, the more I believe I have DH. I can look back in the years of my... -

ARCHIVED Great Experience At Bob Evan's
wowzer replied to suepooh4's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
That is great to here. The last time that I went to Bob Evans, I got the attitude from the waitress like what are you doing here then. -
Hi, Someone gave my husband Red Wing Hockey tickets in a suite. They have tables of foods and desserts. I didn't see a huge choice in the gluten free area, but did have some cheese, fresh fruit, and fresh matzorella cheese with basil and tomato. I did eye the cheesecake on the dessert table but didn't eat any of it. My husband went to the chefs and asked...

ARCHIVED Cadbury Mini Eggs =(
wowzer replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have one of those bags of the Cadbury Mini Eggs. It is unopened and makes me sad, I always have looked forward to them at Easter. They even have a Christmas version too. I am sure that I got glutened from Hershey's candy at work now after reading this post. I just hope that more companies don't go for the CYA. -
ARCHIVED Tough Choice's Setting Kitchen Rules!
wowzer replied to larry mac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't blame you. Of course my husband complains that I don't bake for him. He doesn't get the flour flying in the air as a problem and isn't careful with his crumbs. He has tried a few of my baked goods and even asks me to bake the gluten free cheese biscuits now. Of course he has different likes than I do. I have made a pecan pie for him using a ready... -

Thank you for sharing that list. It's always nice to know how companies are dealing with the labeling laws now. -
That is what I would do. I seem to be in that vicious cycle too. My doctor did let me try taking diflocan when I had a sinus infection. I will say I get fewer of them since going gluten free. I had found an article that I took into him about candida and sinus. I seem to get it under control for awhile and then loose it again. I just need to keep eating...

ARCHIVED Happy But Frustrated With Trying To Bake Certain Items
wowzer replied to lcbannon's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Muffins are easy. I've had great luck and they are pretty close to the gluten ones I remember. I just use the recipe on the side of the Fearns Rice Baking Mix. They also have a brown rice mix that works well. -
ARCHIVED Happy But Frustrated With Trying To Bake Certain Items
wowzer replied to lcbannon's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi, I've had great luck baking scones. Here is what I do for chocolate chip ones: 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1/3 cup sugar 1 cup Fearns rice baking mix (this is what I've used but I'm sure any would work) 1 egg 1/3 cup half and half (or milk) 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips Cut butter, baking mix, sugar with a fork until crumbly... -

ARCHIVED Thyroid, Meds, & celiac disease/gi
wowzer replied to radgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So far my thyroid levels have stayed pretty much the same. I can't remember how many months between the blood test and going gluten free. So we will see if they change with the next blood test. -
ARCHIVED Self-diagnosis
wowzer replied to welshy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi, It sounds to me like you know you are celiac. I had a negative blood test, but still went gluten free because I had so many symptoms. My symptoms leaned more toward DH. When I look back before going gluten free, I was avoiding a lot of it anyway. Probably why my test was negative. For me over the years I had many unexplained very itchy rashes diagnosed... -
ARCHIVED Walmart Great Value-gluten-free Update

ARCHIVED Cadbury Milk Chocoate Bars
wowzer replied to wowzer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This all makes sense now. Before I read about the Cadbury Mini Eggs and Hershey not being safe anymore, I had eaten some extra creamy chocolate Hershey eggs and felt glutened. All I can say is shame on Hershey's. I remember hearing that the price of chocolate was going up, so I wonder if that is why the outsourcing?
