  1. No....they cracked apart....BUT at least I got to eat them! LOL They were much better as the base for quesadilla (which I had for lunch the other day) than they were for soft tacos. I think the brand was called "Good for Life" ? I may try the Trader Joes ones next time. I LOVE Mexican food...and I"m not huge on corn tortillas, so I'm just oging...
  2. Cannot find one that will commit to being gluten free..... anyone use/know of one? I like a complex vs. just B12. I've gone without for 10 days and I'm really starting to feel it! I feel better for the most part, but the fatigue is really gettin gout of hand. THANKS!
  3. I have more energy, but am still kind of "tired" during the day. I've definitely been staying up way later than I did before going gluten free (day 10). I've had to WAY cut back my caffiene intake. I used to drink a lot of soda with caffiene to get that kick to keep me awake during the day. I'm giving up soda now too...not for gluten free, but because...
  4. REALLY??? I am skeptical b/c the magazine pic did not look really appetizing. I'll try it, thanks!
  5. Thanks. They're definitely worth it for fruits/veggies and frozen (non-processed) items, so I'll keep going. I'm disappointed they won't have a list. BUT, I'll send my letter off anyway - I could be a straw that breaks the camel's back. Guess I'll just avoid anything that's not certain and learn to adjust. Thanks.
  6. I think it would be helpful to newbies (me included) to see what ya'll eat on an average day. If everyone can share what they did today or yesterday, we all could find some NEW choices...what do ya think? Here was my day today....full of flavor Breakfast: Bowl of Panda Puffs (it was a quick one!) Snack: Apple Lunch: 2 egg omlet with a little...
  7. .....a gluten free list? I shop there a lot...ours is really good with healthy foods. I know some are not. I'm have a HUGE amount of trouble contacting the company about gluten-free/safe products! UGH!!! Cheap groceries...no customer service LOL i did notice that a lot of the labels have an "allergy warning" if it contains wheat, nuts, soy, etc...
  8. JerryK - I SO know where you are coming from. Do you read this board sometimes and just get scared that all you be left to eat is celery and rice crackers? I sometimes do - how other allergies and food sensitivities arise after eliminating gluten! I think you and I are in the same boat. You are two days ahead of me with gluten free. I went b...
  9. Wait....my apples aren't labelled, does that mean they contain gluten????? LOL I know what you mean. And it can be scary. And I believe that there are people who DO react from the tiniets particles. BUT, I agree with poster who said - suck in ALL the information and make decisions that work for YOU. It is YOUR life. It is YOUR health. You need...
  10. Thanks. Talked to my hubby about it tonight. He's going to mention to his friend that I have a special diet and make sure they're okay if I bring something. That I'm willing to bring something big enough for everyone (like a salad or dessert). I'll also make sure I've eaten before we go, just to make sure I don't get hungry, then start picking at...
  11. I'm REALLY new at this....but I've been reading a lot. I thought XGum was for when you wanted a bread like texture - that it replaced the elasticity that's normally created by the gluten? Maybe I'm wrong. I did not notice ANYTHING different about the pancakes. They were light, fluffy. Maybe a LITTLE bit drier than normal BUT way good. WAY good!!!
  12. Look for "Sea Bands"...they are not a drug at all but a wristband you wear that puts pressure on a certain spot. Sometimes they are called motion sickness bands. I used them with ALL my pregnancies. It was the only way I could get the MS to subside enough to make me eat something. They are GREAT, drug free and non-invasive at all!
  13. I thought about eating before going. I don't want to appear rude. I may have my husband ask the gentleman if it's okay for me to bring something. Maybe I could make a salad and bring a dressing I know I can eat. as well as a desert. Sigh. I guess I'm just embarrassed. Adn I don't want the evening or the event to become about me and my health...
  14. Wow. Ours was fine, not burnt at all. YEs, it was pricey....wouldn't do it on an every week basis. But...the prices are right on the website. No more pricey than a regular pizza joint, I felt. We have a ton of pizza places around us, we spent no more money that we have at them. OBVIOUSLY, not a domino's.
  15. Do you know of or do you have a copy of "Prescription for Nutritional Healing?" In there there is a "detox" section which includes a 7 day detox menu. There is one full day of fasting. I've done this before and really cleane dout my system (okay, I don't do all the gross enemas and stuff they recommended, just the food). I've felt better after...
  16. Drink lots and lots and lots of water! LOL Eat a lot of fruits & veggies too.
  17. Hi....I'm REALLY nervous. My husband told me his boss invited him to a party this weekend. We are going. It's a mexican party/feast type thing. Of course, I can tell just from that there will be foods I cannot eat. It's a group of people I do not know at all. I'm really nervous to offend someone. HOW do I negotiate this without seeming rude...
  18. Maybe for a Saturday outing??? It looked like the area it was in was really cool and had lots of shops and stuff so it could definitely be a day trip. I hope you like it as much as we did.
  19. I've heard a lot about how eating a food you are allergic to actually makes your body hold onto weight instead of eliminate it. And that often when you remove the offending food you lose weight because your body knows how to deal with what it's been given. There's even a book on it, I think, I canno tremember the title. I was also told by a person...
  20. It's almost gone! I'm saving the last piece for hubby when he gets home from work! My kids chowed thru it this morning at snack time. HECK when even KIDS don't notice it's gluten free, it HAS to be good! LOL
  21. It's a white sauce base, right? I just asked this recently b/c i want to make homemade mac & cheese. Someone suggested using cornstarch instead of the flour. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm assuming it would work fine. Make sure to post it when you're done!
  22. How far are you from there? We're only about 20 minutes (well, if you don't account for me getting lost!). They have a "fly by" service so you kind of order ahead, drive thru and pick it up. They have a website too, I should have posted that with the original post. It's Open Original Shared Link I think I may ask them if they sell the dough uncooked...
  23. Cinnamon quick bread turned out AWESOME. My husband (who does not have Celiac at all) said "The h-e-double hockey sticks with wheat!". He loved it. High praise. So yummy half the loaf is gone already! Okay, going to put the recipe on my blog....click thru my signature!
  24. Just checked it out this weekend. They have certified gluten free crust that you would SWEAR was real. No issues at all. They seem to be careful about CC too. Anyone in the Philly area - thought you'd want to know.
  25. YES! I'll share it! BUT let me try it this week (probably tomrrow or tues) and make sure I can make it yummy for you, okay??? i don't like giving out recipes unless I know for sure they are terrific! (I love to cook and pride myself on it.). I'll let you know as soon as its on my blog, okay???
