  1. Thank You Wow, $4 something ... that's unbelievable. I don't think it's gonna get any better any time soon. Yeah, Hawaii pays a serious sunshine tax ! I guess I should restate: San Diego typically has the highest average price of the Continental United States. Although, last year when I was visiting Oahu, we paid about the same we were...
  2. San Diego always has the highest prices in the country. We paid 3.65 for Regular Unleaded this week & we were looking for a good price. We call it the Sunshine Tax !
  3. Hi, it's me, fajitas (changed my username) Hey, Donna, I've never heard of TZO ... tea. Anyway, how's your class going? It sounds like a lot with work & home too. You must be so busy. ----------------------------------------------------- I stopped posting for a while. I've gained 4 lbs with my 12 day attempt to quit smoking and the family...
  4. I've read to Chapter 9. At that point, I felt like going back & kind of digesting it slowly from the beginning again. I'm not in a big hurry to 'finish' the book. Having read most of it, it's made such a difference in the flow of my days and how I react to life that I just wanted to go back & read it again. I'll finish it when it feels right....
  5. Thank You k
  6. Hi Itchy, Is this a case study (please excuse my ignorance)? If so, how can I access it? I'd love to see this. k
  7. Hi, I have a 'kidney disease' called Nephrotic Syndrome (Minimal Change Disease), which has seen significant improvement since going gluten free, though I cannot say for sure that gluten is the cause of the disease. There is a member of this forum who is in remission from this syndrome, and is confident that it is because they've eliminated gluten, and...
  8. I'm 3/4 through the book. In regards to the book: I stopped posting to the forum a few weeks ago. That was a good decision for me. I didn't remember why, but now I do. Speaking of the pain-body* (a name this book gives it), it feels good to be Present again. *Just so nobody misunderstands, I'm not insulting the forum. What wasn't working for...
  9. I like it so far. I like the things it's reminding me of. I'm about 70 pages in. So far, for me, it has tones of As A Man Thinketh & The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. I think you kind of have to take the chapters like pieces of the puzzle in the beginning. I'm sure it has wonderful food for thought if you're up for that sort of thing. Me...
  10. That gluten - she's a harsh nemesis. I can't even believe what I've gone through in the last few days. I'm not smoking. I'm not gonna smoke again. Bad news with my Dad. I'll be back here someday. Just came in cuz I'm feeling human again - unbelievable. And I didn't smoke ???!!! That's the most unbelievable thing. Take care k
  11. I'm on Day 4 of quitting smoking. I feel confident. If I can make it through this week, I think I can probably get through just about anything. I picked a very strange time to quit. My father's having risky surgery tomorrow, I apparently have been glutened sometime in the last couple days & I'm ready to go back to a therapist. I feel aweful from...
  12. I'm sorry you're having such difficulties. I've been there ... I really have. I'll not go into the details of my hospitalization for depression, my suicidal past, my medical past, but I think a lot of us have been where you are. I do hope you're feeling better soon. (((((((HUGS))))))) k
  13. Hi, Just my opinion, based on my history and my Now: To some degree, I think most of us could beat ourselves up for the things we did because of the choices we made in the past, and also the things that just happened to us. Regret and guilt are pretty useless emotions, since we don't live in the Yesterday or the 5 years ago. And, we can't change the...
  14. Congratulations, Ladies. Inspiration ... yes, I like it. Nikki, Right on !
  15. Right On, Amanda ! Congratulations on your marriage, BTW! Right On, Lisa! And, may the force be with you as well. Did the Lame Advertisement work for you after all? I thought about Lame Advertisement ... It feels so good to take a deep breath.
  16. Hope you're still free of it. The Patches. I'm amazed. I had my last cigarette Friday morning & an hour later, I put on the patch. Haven't even considered smoking at all since. It really does kill those cravings. I'm convinced that if I had tried the patches last summer (when this thread started), I would have kicked this then. I had no...
  17. I agree that you probably want to investigate other foods, but I wanted to say something about the Prednisone. I was under a 7 month course of treatment with it (I'm guessing you were only on it for a couple weeks? ). Prednisone is pretty serious stuff it took a while for me to feel right after I was off the stuff. It suppresses your immune system &...
  18. Hi, I'm probably gonna be out of this for a while. But I'll be back when I can make sense of things. Here's where I'm at right now: Waist: 34 1/2 ... Weight 159, so I'm at least down a half inch. So, I sat in the jury lounge for 3 1/2 hours only to be excused - so, good news there. Before I go, an update on my Dad: We found out yesterday that...
  19. Sorry, the patches are Nicoderm. I'm quitting smoking, at least giving it a shot.
  20. -- nevermind this post
  21. Hi ! Hope you're feeling better soon ! Oh, don't get me started on CHOCOLATE. And the whole girlscout cookies thing ... my niece called a couple weeks ago (they're in Arizona), so I bought a couple boxes & told my sister to go ahead and keep them there - but, how can you not buy cookies from your niece? SAMOAS, they were my favorite....
  22. Hello, I'm curious if any of you with first degree relatives dx'd with Parkinson's have had genetic testing. Also, how many of you in that same boat suffered from anxiety & depression. The gene that I'm particularly interested in is DQB1*06 . My mother was dx'd with Parkinson's a couple years ago. I, myself, haven't had any testing for Celiac...
  23. Hi Folks, Liz (Lonewolf Liz), great job on the 1 1/2 lbs. Sounds like basketball is going well too ! Go Team(s) ! Hi new Liz, Joni, Donna, Shannon. Since it's Friday, I'm weighing in - 160 straight up. Haven't lost or gained, which is good, because I certainly haven't been very careful. Darn tortilla chips. I eat all the good for you stuff...
  24. Please forgive me for bringing up a controversial subject - just trying to help, but - you could be reacting to monosodium glutamate (MSG). Some people just can't tolerate it at all (like me, for instance).
  25. Okay, so I totally blew my diet this weekend - Totally. It pretty much went like this: B - pizza L - pizza and margaritas D - pizza Snacks - a little bit of pizza Oh, we love the DDR. Joni, I'm glad you sparked my interest in it. It takes a little getting used to. We did about 1/2 hour yesterday (we got 2 mats so we can compete)....
