  1. OMG - Does Dapsone help with this stuff too? I've tried other stuff from my docs through the various years, but nothing ever helped. Maybe I should try Dapsone. Stress - they told me that too. I, personally, never saw a correlation with stress with one exception a few months ago.
  2. Well, In that case, worry not - some stuff that has helped me (when I have the tiny breakouts now): When I eat crap, that's when it comes (by crap, I mean like tortilla chip overload, and lots of starches). I can slow the outbreak (if history is any indication) by cutting out starches and eating lots of veggies. Sounds silly, but I think it may have...
  3. Hi, If it weren't for the fact that you've never had this before, I'd say that it's probably Dishydrotic Dermatits - that's what I have. But, Dishydrosis is supposedly chronic - you most likely would have had it before now if it were that. You can do a google search on it. I used to get it on my hands & feet pretty bad before gluten-free. Occasionally...
  4. Hi, Just a little CYA here (I just hate to be misunderstood), I'm not saying that I believe that eliminating wheat, etc. will fix a heart problem. It's certainly nothing to mess around with. I just know that in my case, the heart dropping is definitely a sign that I've been glutened and that it went away absolutely and completely (except glutenings)...
  5. Hi, I've seen this trend in other threads, but haven't replied, because I have nothing to back it up with, but I'm going to throw it in here this time. I had the same thing - about 4 months in (I'm not on the pill), my cramps got intolerable. I began to think it may have something to do with something I was missing in my diet. I did searches on vitamin...
  6. Redundant post.
  7. So, check this out. It's really interesting stuff about where food goes & stuff if you click on some of the links to the videos. Edit: Link's not working - oh well - sorry. EDIT AGAIN: Okay, now it's working. I just don't understand this URL stuff. Open Original Shared Link</a> k EDIT: I did get the book "You On A Diet" last...
  8. There are a lot of things that could be issues. Hate to throw another one into the mix, but one of the things that I never would have guessed for me was monosodium glutamate - MSG (watch for yeast extract while testing it - if you decide to test it, that is). It's a long shot, but you may want to check your labels and see if there's a trend that coincides...
  9. Hi, Welcome, If you're talking about palpatations / erratic heart beat type stuff, that's my first indication that I've been glutened now (BTW, I have reason to believe that I'm not Celiac, but have wheat allergy or intolerance). For a couple of months before I discovered that my problems were due to gluten (elimination diet), I was regularly having a...
  10. Okay, Lazy, lazy, lazy me. Haven't worked out ... still eating low value carbs. Had a re-do on a root canal on Wednesday, so didn't feel like working out. I'm going today - I AM ! Steamed up veggies this morning, so I'm ready to get on that train again. Congrats on the weight, Mango. Ashtanga Yoga, huh? I'll have to look into that. Joni, Hawaii...
  11. Hello everyone, It looks as though I gained a couple pounds in Hawaii. Maybe it's just water weight. I was really active: surf lessons twice, lots of exercise in the water (current was a little stronger than our usual rolling waves). I ate a lot of low nutritional value carbs on the trip. We didn't buy the groceries, so not a lot of veggies, but...
  12. Oh, and I wanted to say: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU - ALL OF YOU for all your help and suggestions on going to a good dentist who cares about their patients' health. You've been so helpful and warm toward me. Rachel - I have read bits and pieces and can see that you seem to be doing much better. I'm so glad. You've worked so hard and endured...
  13. WOW ! I haven't been keeping up with the thread - sorry. I hope everyone's well. I want to share something because I never would have guessed that it was a problem, but, apparently, it was. I'm shocked at how much better I feel. It's about that tooth & infection. I went in Wednesday (you know, after the crown popped off) to have a new crown...
  14. Hi everybody, Haven't worked out this week, and had a major binge last night. I've been eating pretty well except for the snacks yesterday. Geez, I had 6 good days. Now, I've got to get back on the wagon. I'll be in Oahu for a while soon. Hopefully I won't gain that 5 back while I'm there ! Okay, Me, Ranting about my teeth - But the main point...
  15. This is an interesting thread. The flow is strange. Anyway, I'm hopping in for my weigh in. I've lost another pound. This is an important pound. It's the one I've been waiting for (gaining that 5 pounds in August really made this a pain). I'm at 157 and definitely gaining muscle tone. My waist is closer to 32 than 33 inches. I've been working...
  16. Hi Jason, & welcome, Just wanted to mention - the beer that Centa was talking about is Redbridge. It's around. It's made by Anhueser Busch. I get it at Henry's. I really like it. Usually, if I'm going to a dinner or party, I bring a few Redbridges in a cooler for myself. (oops - Shotzy beat me to it - the redbridge thing - while I was posting...
  17. I see what you're saying. Thanks for posting. And, thanks zkat. I also was noticing a lot of conflicting info. on different websites with no real proof of anything, except that most of the foods that seem to be recommended (to increase alkalinity) are, in fact, good for your body anyway. It could be simply that because I've increased my veggie and good...
  18. Hi, Wasn't sure where to put this topic. Maybe I should have stuck it in Gab? I've been noticing something interesting about my dietary changes and that I do much better when I eat more alkaline than acidic foods. I happened upon some info about PH and would like to look into it further. I have never paid attention to this before, but would like...
  19. This reply is not about celiac. I'm aware that celiac is a whole different animal. I would tend to agree with this thought most of all. I have the same kidney disease as the boy and lonewolf. I, unlike lonewolf or this boy, am not technically in remission, and I believe that's due to the fact that I'm continuing to over-stress the system with cigarettes...
  20. Oh Liz, I'm glad to hear that it seems to be working out for him. I'd like to see more people with MCNS giving this a shot. Even though I haven't technically gone into remission, I've had so much improvement. I'm on the verge as my numbers are so low, I hardly qualify for Nephrotic Syndrome. And, I would swear that since my labs, I'm even closer...
  21. This is pretty much how I feel. I'm not excited about putting more foreign matter in my mouth. I'm just a little squeamish (sp?) about an extraction. My wisdom teeth extraction was the worst I've ever heard of. It was a nightmare - a 2 month, horrible nightmare. I was wondering about a partial too. I think that would be okay. If I could just get...
  22. Weigh In: I've finally lost that last pound of the 5 that I gained in August when I attempted to quit smoking. That puts me at 158. So, I'm back where I started now. I can't help but imagine what it'd be like if I had never gained that 5. I'd be pretty close to my goal weight now, but as it stands, I'll be working to drop that last 5 to 8 lbs over the...
  23. Hi Andrea, I'm not exactly sure, but I believe that a post crown (here's where it gets a little like scraping fingernails on a chalkboard) is when they drill a hole into the small amount of tooth that's left (this tooth has already had a root canal) and put a post into the tooth which will be what they cement the crown to. I need to call the dentist and...
  24. That sounds familiar, Susie. It gets to be a little overwhelming when you're playing this stuff over and over in your head. It's really a lot to digest. I hope you're feeling better soon. k
  25. Wow, I'm kind of beside myself about my tooth situation. I've never been so freaked out before about dental stuff - and it has nothing to do with the amalgam removals - that went great (so far). They're gone, they're fixed, they're paid for (that is, the two I had done yesterday). Now, for the disaster: Funny that you guys have been talking (sometimes...
