  1. I notice a BIG difference within a day that I get that moody fog and get sad. When I cleanse my body by going back to gluten free and couple it with gluten-free green tea it helps. I also take a vitamin B-Complex. Something about the gluten products alters your ability to absord B vitamins. I make sure that the vitamins I have contain no allergens. I double...
  2. Drinking goat milk is not the yummiest thing, it has "that taste" but goat cheese is da bomb! especially melted on a gluten-free pesto pizza
  3. a hot pastrami sandwhich (gluten free bread or on corn tortillias) and a philly cheese steak with swiss cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms. (does a home simpson drool) and a side of home made french fries with ranch dressing. oh and I discovered something, if you eat from someone else's plate, the calories belong to them so you don't consume your own...
  4. I remember countless hours making dough with my mom as a child and rolling it out to make homemade pasta, especially tortellini's and raviolis. Has anyone had a successful attempt at scratch pasta doughs? I hope this would also work for making won ton wrappers as I miss eating egg rolls and soup.
  5. Vancouver/Portland is all hit with snow and the schools are closed here...NO work today!!! When I lived in Colorado, things wouldn't shut down until there was over 3ft of snow. The only bad thing is that Comcast cable is down. snow ball fight!
  6. Not sure how it works in rice cooker, but I find that when I make my brown rice on the stove I use a can of coconut milk and it comes out very yummy and creamy , very darn close to rice pudding if I use 2 cans...
  7. question on the cheetos, they have soybean, and hydrogenated soybean oil listed on the label, I thought that was a no no??? if not, I am about to have orange fingers again! thank you!
  8. I did warn ya I would be asking lots of questions I was wondering how you veterans have adapted to affording the cost of shopping gluten/dairy etc free, especially when a family is involved. I remember how easy it is to get a box of something 10 for $10, a loaf of bread for a buck. My eyes bulge out when I purchase a box of bread mix for $5-$7 and...
  9. My mom said, "If you can find someone who can deal with your farts... keep 'em!!!"
  10. Not having dairy was my first diagnosis 9 years ago, and I still find it hard, but when I found out that my bread and pastas where to be taken away...well it's just not right for an Italian. I am finding gluten harder to face than dairy. I had finally gotten used to Rice Dream in my cereal and even their yummy icecream, Until I read the label again and realized...
  11. I think an important part of this question is not just the answers we need to hear, but how we are treated "Customer Service". When I ask the staff, and I am a pretty friendly person, I sometimes get treated as I am hassling them or being picky. I am sometimes afraid the staff will do unsightly things to my food because they think I am a beotchy customer...
  12. Did you say desserts!!! oooh I will have to try that out, I do miss chocolate so much!
  13. Has anyone seen the movie "What the Bleep Do we Know"? It is a part documentary part storyline. Below is a synopsis copied from the website Open Original Shared Link I was at first skeptical of watching because it deals with quantum physics, but the message delivered is inspiring and makes one think. The main character, a deaf actress which most of you...
  14. Hmm, I finally found the introduction page! I just moved here to Vancouver, WA this week. I am still new to the gluten-free lifestyle, and figured since I moved to a new place, this would be a fantastic opportunity to actually stay motivated on the gluten-free diet. Has anyone been to the GIG meetings in Vancouver? I have never been to support group or forum...
  15. I understand that items "added" to meats have to be listed, but what about feed that the animals actually eat on the farms. Animals graze outside on the land or chickens, cows and turkeys are fed corn, etc. If the animal eats corn, oats etc, does that impact us too? WHen I go to the grocery store deli to get the best turkey meat I can find, I read the labels...
  16. Cow products versus sheep and goat. for an Italian to give up pastas, bread, and cheese has been extremely difficult. I find anything I eat from cow just sucks for my body, not matter what form. However, I find when I really need to have that cheese on my gluten-free pasta dishes, I seem to do fine with a cheese made from sheeps or goats milk. especially...
  17. I seem to notice that many of you have been misdiagnosed with ailments for years, among them IBS. Is that just a scapegoat for docs when they can't figure out a food sensitivity/celiac? Or do IBS and celiac seem to go hand in hand. The diets a read to follow for IBS and gluten free, casen free seem to leave nothing to eat.... for me, not eating bread I sub...
  18. Hi again. I am new to all of this and may be posting many items as I have soooo many questions on being Gluten Free. I thought I was doing all the right things by reading labels, but that does not see to do the trick. I read on a few threads about cross contamination (cc) about people throwing out dishes, kitchen wares, shampoo etc. I am confused if this...
  19. Hello all, this is my first post to this site, I just found it and am very excited to know there are other bloatees out there! The comments I have read on here have really helped to reduce the aloneness I felt with this strange food affliction. As I have had this problem since my teens, I thought it was just a daily part of life and would never go away. That...
