ARCHIVED My First Glutening After Going gluten-free - Weird
flowergirl replied to flowergirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone, I don't know what I would have done without this forum. Only you guys can understand these things. I realise now that glutening or getting ill makes you loose your objectivity and clear thinking. Now that I look back on it... I chose the completely wrong time to start re-introducing nasties in my diet. Thanks again. -
ARCHIVED Pro-biotics
flowergirl replied to Lisa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've been taking home made kefir as probiotic and it has done wonders for my overall wellbeing. Unfortunately I've had a flu and swelling of my lymh nodes in my neck the last few days so I've stopped the kefir. I really miss it. We've had a stressful time lately and that is why I got sick. My kefir is made with organic cows milk and I overferment it so... -
ARCHIVED Coping With Anemia From Celiac
flowergirl replied to anemic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with the statement in the header of this topic: Its not gluten-free that is as difficult as low iron If your iron is low you have no energy, your body can't fight infection properly (as is the case with me at the moment) and it is incapable of healing itself because of anemia of the blood. There is simply not enough oxygen and nutrition in your... -

I bought some yellow dock just now. Can't wait to try it, I am going to brew it in a coffee plunger with dandelion root and burdock. I saw the Floradix herbal mix. It is gluten-free. Yay! -

ARCHIVED Coping With Anemia From Celiac
flowergirl replied to anemic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know how you do it. Working full time with kids with an iron count of 3! I am also struggling to get my iron up. Last time the doc checked my count was at 24. There is improvement but very slowly. I just try to take it one day at a time otherwise I'll go mad. Keep drinking your iron tabs and make sure you also get lots of iron rich natural foods... -
ARCHIVED My First Glutening After Going gluten-free - Weird
flowergirl replied to flowergirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, the hot choc and the two gluten-free chocolates were the only out of the ordinary things I ate. I knew they may make me ill but my partner and I wanted to test it out. We are slowly moving towards reintroducing things and seeing what happens. We had a few stressful weeks and I know my immune system is very low so I was not surprized by the cold... -

Thank you, I thought about what you said, it makes sense. I should also mention that I took an ibuprofen last night for period pain. Can that cause D? -
ARCHIVED My First Glutening After Going gluten-free - Weird
flowergirl posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi everyone, I think I may have experienced my first glutening. It was terrible but I am not sure if it was a glutening or just a cold? 5 Days ago I had a few sips of hot chocolate and 2 gluten-free chocolates for the first time since going gluten-free. The hot choc was with cows milk and I am lactose intolerant. I thought I'd give it a try and... -
ARCHIVED Please Advise I Am New And Slowly Going Crazy
flowergirl replied to MinxyMandy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Mandy, I am sorry for not responding earlier. I have a cold, fever and inflamation in my throat and can't think so clearly. I am sorry to hear you are still suffering. Candida and/or Celiac causes leaky gut and that is why you are feeling so anxious and disorientated. It causes holes in your gut that lets in all sorts of food particles and stuff in... -
ARCHIVED Please Advise I Am New And Slowly Going Crazy
flowergirl replied to MinxyMandy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Kefir and cold pressed virgin Coconut oil is the way to go. I am so sorry to hear you are suffering. I was there a year ago and I understand what you are going through. I managed to get rid of candida. Search on google and on this site about kefir, it is a natural probiotic. You can buy grains over the internet and prepare it yourself. Start slowly because... -
I wouldn't have any soy, dairy or coffee for a few months if I were you. At least until there are some healing... Coffee is a gut irritant and you are slowing your progress by drinking it.

They put Sushi Seasoning in the rice while boiling to make it stickier and tastier. It is a type of rice vinegar that contains wheat. It is better to double check. I haven't been able to find a sushi place that doesn't use rice vinegar with wheat listed as ingredient. Very sad... I LOVE sushi and havn't had any in months... Many soy sauces contain...

ARCHIVED So What Do You Tell People?
flowergirl replied to chocolatelover's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Debbie, this is the part that bothers me. Why do we place all our trust in scientists? Who are they and are they worthy? Do they and their beneficiaries really have OUR best interest at heart? Look at the selective breeding (as you call it) of wheat. It may have started out as something experimental and innocent. Better yields, better insect-proof,... -
ARCHIVED So What Do You Tell People?
flowergirl replied to chocolatelover's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't believe I have a 'disease'. I just tell them I am gluten intolerant. I believe a group of idiot scientists genetically engineerd certain grains so that their gluten content be higher, to make bread rise better (and other sinister reasons like causing human suffering), making it harder for the human body to digest, and now I am sensitive to gluten... -
ARCHIVED Is It Possible The Hypoglycemia Will Disappear Completely?
flowergirl replied to 2boysmama's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease

The doc told my mother years ago that I'll never be able to donate blood because my blood is too malnurished. Guess I'll stick with that since I am sh&t scared of needles anyway.

ARCHIVED Major Bathroom Issuses
flowergirl replied to January Flower's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yep, had the foul smelling gas, D and deformed stools too. Now its gone. I am taking well fermented, home made kefir as probiotic. It works good. I am a person for trying alternative therapies to just taking whatever the doc hands out. Hope you feel better soon. -
ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
flowergirl replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have it in the fridge but I don't eat it anymore. For some reason it gave me stomach cramps when I started eating it just as I went gluten-free. I don't understand why because there is nothing suspicious in the ingredient list. It may be because my guts were still confused and inflamed.??? Anyway, it doesn't taste like vegemite, more like Marmite and... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Get Really Cold Feet And Hands?
flowergirl replied to DonnaD's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, I have always had really cold feet. It improved significantly after going gluten free. I cannot say if this was due to celiac in specific because a lot of my problems (deficiencies) improved after going gluten-free. Blood results show how my anemia have improved (iron) and I have long, beautiful nails for the first time in my life (calcium). I also... -

ARCHIVED Eye Tic?
flowergirl replied to eleep's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had twitchy left eye too. It was horrible and dibilitating. It was particularly bad in times of stress and anxiety and now that I look back on it, it was definately brought on by gluten. Since going gluten-free, I haven't had one day of twitching. Thank God! -
ARCHIVED Feeling Weak, I Can't Take This Anymore
flowergirl replied to PeaceAngel22's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Have you investigated the deficiencies commonly found due to malabsorbtion? I had iron deficiency anemia all my life and never quite understood why I was constantly without energy and feeling like a dead leaf. Iron with folic acid tabs helps as well as the occational Vit B12 supplement. Fatty acids like cold pressed, extra virgin flaxseed and coconut oil...
