  1. Sparkybear, you'll most likely not like the answer I have on your question. Before I diagnosed myself with gluten intolerance I received lots of rejection due to my health problems. Many doctors were eager to hang labels around my neck and treat my like I'm crazy and I guess to them I did seem crazy because I had lots of anxiety and depression with gluten...
  2. Hi Lauren, I don't follow the raw food diet but eat lots of raw fruit and veg. Some veggies I just stir fry in a pan slightly under low heat or sometimes steam slowly under low heat. Anything to try to have them as nutricious as possible and secondly to make them as digestable as possible. Lots of health benefits.
  3. I am not the person to answer your question but I have had the yellow / brown discolouration on my teeth since childhood. It is not something I ate (well maybe gluten). The colour comes from deep within and the dentist said that polishing won't work. I also have a few white specks on my teeth that seem to come and go with time. I don't understand it...
  4. My homeopath suggested Gentian before trying digestive enzymes. Gentian kickstarts the digestive juices and processes when taken with a little water 20 minutes before food. It gets the digestive system and gastric juices going so it can get into the habit on it's own once you stop taking it. It is not habit forming and no nasty side effects and perfectly...
  5. Hi Cate, see Nancy's thread Open Original Shared Link My first few attempts was with canned coconut milk but afterwards I realised that it was coconut with added water. Now I've found a brand that cans 100% coconut milk, which is the liquid content of the coconut. I've also done one batch with coconut cream but it is too rich to have a large amount...
  6. Hi Cate, it can be soy. After I went gluten-free soy was still making me sick. (Be sure to check food lables too because lots of dark chocolate have soy lecithin as ingrediet.) Investigate the elimination diet and see if other food intolerances may be your problem. I also had a bad time with intestinal candida in the past and I believe getting rid of that...
  7. I agree with D. Coffee is a gut irritant and your gut is never going to heal and absorb if it has to evacuate every time the coffee is expelled from the stomach into the small intestine. Sorry but you can google it. It is true. Flowergirl
  8. Thanks for the link Gail. It is very interesting reading.
  9. It is a UK product called Plamil Organics. www.plamilfoods.co.uk. I have the Organic Ginger chocolate here and the ingredients are: organic raw suger, organic cacoa mass, organic cocoa butter, emulsifier: sunflower lechithin, organic ginger oil. It just comes to show that it IS possible to make a good chocolate without the nasties. Sorry I can...
  10. Good question, Diane. Though I don't understand it, I can't have chocolate with soy lechithin listed but I can have chocolate with sunflower lechithin. I get stomach pain and D. I also can't have any soy. I hope someone knows the answer because I'd like to know too. Flowergirl
  11. Anthony, aloe vera juice, slippery elm mixed in a little water and occational peppermint tea does it for me. Slippery elm seems to work the best. Besides that just stick to eating as little as possible and things that doesn't anger the stomach while you ride it out.
  12. I've been hypoglycemic ALL MY LIFE... I wish I made the connection with gluten intolerance sooner. The only way I can manage it is by diet. See my signature. Flowergirl

    ARCHIVED Itching

Wowser, I had the DH terrible itching that MGP discribed a few yrs ago. It was horrible but it went away when I changed a few things in my lifestyle. Didn't know anything about Celiac then. A month after going gluten-free I started to get dry skin again. Especially on my legs. I increased my intake of flaxseed, salmon and coconut oil and this week I...
  14. The same thing happend to me when I went gluten-free. It solved some of the problems like the brain fog etc but I had increased episodes of D and was still tired all the time. Via elimination I soon found out that it was the sudden increase in soy as alternative to milk that caused the trouble. I started to avoid soy, chocolate, dairy etc (see my signature...
  15. Same here! Periods were always screwed up and after going gluten-free it is still screwed up but in a different way. I don't know what to do. PMS has also always been terrible.
  16. Yes, I can't tolerate dairy at the moment but I'm planning on re-introducing it when I feel my gut has healed. Therefore I avoid milk chocolate and eat dark chocolate instead. I have a feeling that it is the soy (from the lechithin) in the dairy-free chocolates that I've been trying in the past that makes me sick. The chili chocolate has very basic ingredients...
  17. Hi georgie, I'm sorry to hear to are feeling bad. I get glutened by any chocolate but two days ago I visited the Gluten free shop in Ormond that you suggested on the Aussie/NZ thread. I had two rows of a dark chocolate with chili they sell (threw wrapper away sadly ) and had no symptoms. It is the first time I've had chocolate in months and I'm quite...
  18. I had pain in the muscles of both my legs (all my life) and medicated with magnesium /B6 supplement. Since going gluten free I haven't had one day of pain. My body seems to be absorbing what it needs from my food.
  19. I've also had dark circles around my eyes all my life due to iron difficiency. I have been gluten free for a few months but haven't noticed much difference. My dr have me on high potency iron/folate tabs which I don't take everyday because I forget. When I skip a day or two, the rings become darker and the fatigue increases. When my dr tested my ferritin...
  20. Thanks for the link, georgie. I saw your post a few hours ago, grabbed the car keys and off I went. They moved to a bigger shop thats now at 553 North Rd, Ormond. What a wonderful shop ful of friendly, very knowledgable people. They even have chocolate that I can eat.
  21. Be careful of Accutane. It messes up your liver.
  22. Slippery Elm mixed in water and Aloe vera juice also helps to calm the inflamation in the intestine. Taking a tablespoon of flaxseed oil on an empty stomach also works for the aches and pain. Flowergirl
  23. Megan, you poor thing. What you describe is exactly what I get when I eat the things I'm intolerant to. (See my signature) The dizzy, faint, sweaty feeling, the stomach hurts and green runs, the sleepiness, the lose track off time/memory loss and fear that anxiety may escalate any time soon thing. You've described me to a t. All advice I can give...
  24. After going gluten free there were still many things that made me bloated and caused green diarhea. You'll see in my signature that I avoid gluten free processed foods (like flours etc), soy, sugar and dairy. Things are much better now. When I'm not glutened, my tummy is flat more than 50% of the time. Last month we celebrated because for the first...
  25. Hi all, I've search around for a thread on this but couldn't find much. I want to know what other celiacs are doing about anemia/iron deficiency. Not neccesarily the quickest way, just the best way. I am a bit weary of supplements and treatments. My doctor tested my ferritin a few months ago (pre gluten free diet) and it was 18. I rotated low and high...
