  1. I found out I'm pregnant I have my first appt. Monday to confirm everything. I miscarried in January so this is a very positive thing. So far things are very different. My tata's are killing me (they didn't in January) and I have nausea, sometimes intense sometimes not (didn't have that either). And I CAN'T STOP EATING!!! And I'm not eating as normal...
  2. you do still need to be eating gluten to take the test so you should either have your ob/gyn run the test asap or get in to see a GI doc asap. i think the amount you have to eat per day is equivalent to a piece of bread and since you have only been trying to be gluten free for a week then it won't make much of a difference (somebody correct me if I'm wrong...
  3. congrats. on your pregnancy. 1- yes, you need to see a GI doc. but he most likely will only be able to confirm celiac through a blood panel and not an endoscope while your are pregnant. you still need to confirm this is what is going on because you seem to have trouble sticking to the diet since it is not "confirmed" by a professional. once you are...
  4. Stick to the diet 100% and you should start to see results in a month. When I was first diagnosed I really noticed small changes at first - like more energy, better sleeping patterns, skin looking better etc. The big changes are slower to come by and after 5 months I'm seeing more consistent results overall. Depending on how sick you were also depends on...
  5. there is also Weber Grill, they have several locations including suburban locations.
  6. it takes me forever to heal from a bug bite. i got one on my arm in june and it's still there. i'm not a magnet for them but when i do get bit the bite gets really big and red and itches. this is my first summer gluten-free and the first time i've noticed this. not sure if it's related or not...

    ARCHIVED Women

i used to get severe nausea and D just on the first day of my period. i would wake up and literally not be able to move or eat anything for hours. at the time i was under a lot of stress and thought that it could be related to that so i quit my job (in addition to other reasons why). after that it got a little better. then four years later i was dx'ed with...
  8. did your doctor ask you to come in? i think you need to talk to your OB/Gyn or PCP and run some blood tests if this is the only time something like this has ever happened to you. It could be a simple nutritional deficiency or something else. Are you sure you aren't ingesting gluten in a new vitamin or anything? Congratulations and good luck! I hope you are...
  9. wow it is soo pretty! i will have to put that on the list to check into. i'm learning that we need to start planning now for our trip in january because things are already starting to book up at the various hotels when we want to go! amazing. and that's nice there is a trip to the two other small islands from that hotel. i can't wait to see what hubby says...
  10. Thanks Burdee! Great info. Are the Lahaina Shores condos nice and on the beach? I think it would be nice to stay in one place (not try to do Kauai and Maui in one trip) and have access to a kitchen while there. Amy
  11. I would like to plan a trip for my husband and I to Maui or Kauai or both in January. Can any one share their gluten free travel advice for Hawaii? We'd like to be able to stay a resort but are also open to a condo so we can have our own kitchen. I'd appreciate any tips. Thanks! Amy
  12. I think FAM is a great method and it works too, my sister used and it and introduced me too it. I'm just too lazy on saturday and sundays to set my alarm for 6am to take my temp. even if a woman doesn't use the FAM method they should read the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" I learned more than I ever thought I could reading it!
  13. have you had your gallbladder and pancraese (okay I just totaly botched the spelling of that, i'm having a senior moment here) checked? that is typically where the gallbaldder is located. i had a gallbladder attack late last year before being dx'ed- ugh. worse pain of my life!
  14. I've just started using the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor this month. You use it every day in the morning only and it will tell you the days you are at peak fertility and when you ovulate. It's pretty neat. I bought it on Amazon. I tried using the FAM method but couldn't take my temp. at the same time every day, then I would forget to write it down and then...
  15. Just as an FYI- Ranbaxy Amoxicillin 875 mg tablets are gluten free. Whew!
  16. the food itself is gluten free. the factory it is made at is not. this means that the lines the pb cups were made on are in the same building as lines that produce food with wheat in them. sometimes you will also see a statement saying the food is made on equipment that also processes wheat. depending on your sensitivty you most likely will not be glutened...
  17. are you a salty potato chip person? the sea salt and black pepper potato chips are soooo good and salty. they are addicting. i like their italian sodas since i don't drink real pop i buy the tangerine every so often. the big jug organic apple juice is good (whole foods brand). the gluten free apple pie by the whole foods bakery is okay. i haven't had the...
  18. We were both diagnosed about the same time and I'm in the same boat as you. Since we got back from vacation at the end of June I pretty much felt crappy and knew I had been glutened on vacation repeatedly. Then July took me to heal. Two days last week I had beautiful BM's - freakin' perfect - Saturday not so perfect and today it all went out the window. I...
  19. I take Excedrin for everything. I love it. It's not just for headaches but also for cramps, aches and pains etc. I usually just take one and see how I do, if I need more relief I take a second one and I'll be okay. Not sure if they are gluten free in Canada but I haven't had a problem with them in the States.
  20. thanks carla. the pharmacist was really helpful and went through the ingredients and said nothing looked suspicious. i went ahead and got it and tried to contact the company which is closed until monday so i went ahead and took it trusting that it is gluten-free. i have a horrible ear infection that is getting worse- tried to go the natural route and it wasn...
  21. Is Amoxicilllin gluten free? Thanks! Amy
  22. They explain what is and isn't gluten-free on their website: Open Original Shared Link i have the all fruit ones without boosts all the time. Yum!
  23. can you describe what is in a naked combo and how it's ordered? my husband will pass out when i tell him he can go to portillo's and order something! same with buena beef. he's getting a little tired of chipolte
  24. My nutritionist told me O- blood is the oldest blood type therefore it is a blood type predisposed to the hunter gatherer type diet that doesn't not include wheat/grains. She seemed to know what she was talking about... I'm 0-. I have Celiac. My husband is A- and is a celiac. That's all I know.
  25. wow. you were diagnosed with PCOS at 12? I didn't think you could have it that early but that's interesting. I have PCOS as well. I got pregnant in December and had a miscarriage at 8 weeks then I was finally dx'ed with celiac in February and went gluten-free in March. I fully believe the MC's were a direct result of malabsorption and celiac than anything...
