  1. Does any one know if any/most of Mary Kay products are gluten free? Thanks!
  2. you definitely need to eliminate dairy from your diet. you tested positive for it through Enterolab.
  3. if you can tolerate whole grains like rice and quinoa etc. then try to eat those once a day but i wouldn't worry about that many servings. most celiacs don't get that amount normally. remember though that eating crackers would count as whole grain so i don't think it would be all that hard to get atleast 3 or 4 servings a day. also, you need to make sure...
  4. what types of things are you eating? are you making your own food? i had the opposite effect of the diet- once i started the weight started falling off really fast. but i was also not eating as much as i should. right now your should be focusing on fresh fruits and veggies and bland meals that are easy to digest (chicken, turkey, fish etc.). are you eating...
  5. I've been using lotion, shampoo and conditioner from Desert Essence. It's not bad. The lotion scents are a little over the top for me but the coconut one is manageble.
  6. I think the beef is suspect. Before I was diagnosed I couldn't eat red meat of any type. i think it's the high fat content and cholesterol. now i can tolerate it about once or twice a week but last november- no way. i would have been doubled over in pain with the big D for atleast a day.
  7. i react to soy anything including lecithins. i break out very badly and also my right side inflammations kick into gear. the whole food dark chocolate bars are soy free also.
  8. I can never find the Target ones at Target for some reason! Strange because I know so many people who take them! GNC Prenatals are supposed to be gluten free. I don't believe Walgreen's are, you'd have to call.
  9. I recently got this response from the customer service rep. I got this within the past week: Thank you for taking time to write us with your questions. We at Caribou Coffee are sensitive to the needs of our customers with dietary restrictions, including gluten allergies. We are consistently working to make these concerns known and to produce such...
  10. the recipe is for a mushroom and wine sauce over cube steaks.
  11. Planning a road trip in June and need to have back up options for the four days spent in the car. I found theses at one of the gluten-free on line stores. Has any one tried them? I don't want to make a habit out of eating these but are they good enough for one or two meals? Open Original Shared Link

    ARCHIVED Dupuytrens

I don't have dupuytrens but I can almost guarantee my celiac disease came from my dad's side and that my dad and grandma have celiac disease but won't get tested. that being said my dad and grandma have dupuytrens in both hands. i should tell them to try the gluten-free diet and see if it helps. my dad has had the surguries, twice on one hand. it's very painful...
  15. Wow! My malabsorption was high as well - 1164. Were either of you not responding to the gluten-free diet and that is why you suspect another underlying cause? All of my scores were off the charts: Fecal Antigliadin IgA 317 (Normal Range <10 Units) Fecal Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA 139 Units Quantitative Microscopic Fecal Fat Score ...
  16. Welcome! This is a great resource. The easiest thing to do is stay on the outside aisles of the grocery store. Fruits & Veggies, unprocessed meats and fish are easy in the beginning. Rice is also okay to help fill in the carbs. Most people say to stay away from the processed gluten free foods in the beginning so you have a chance to heal. Cooking...
  17. the first time i bought this cereal it was actually good (berry crunch) the second time i couldn't figure out what happened and thought i got a stale box. the third time i gave up after one spoonful.
  18. You could be reacting to sulphites which are found in red wine among other things.
  19. I've only been gluten-free since March 1 but I started a list of all the postive changes i've been noticing so i can remind myself of the benefits of sticking to the gluten-free diet all the time some of those are: 1) feeling what feeling normal is for the first time ever 2) my mother told me that my skin looks fantastic after suffering through years...
  20. I just want to review a restaurant in Arlington Heights, IL La Tasca Tapas in downtown Arlington Heights was great! I was actually dining with a group and so I called a few weeks ago to see if they would be able to accomodate me. I spoke with the owner who said he would find something I could eat. I arrived a little early so I could talk to him and together...
  21. Some one else on here mentioned Chreese. I just bought a pack of it but haven't tried it yet. It's more like a cheese sauce than for pizza. It's made by Road's End Organics and you can order online. They might have a pizza recipe or something.
  22. I lost almosst 15 lbs. when I was first diagnosed and even then I didn't need to lose any weight. I still haven't gained anything back but I think it's a combination of no more or atleast very little sugar and carbs so I'm not bloated anymore. I eat through out the day. I eat an apple with nut butter and a turkey sausage patty for breakfast, a snack at 1...
  23. A month and a half is not very long. At first I felt great and then all of the sudden not so great. I'm about 2.5 months into this and I still have good days and bad days. I keep finding trigger foods also. One thing I can't digest is sweet potatoes, avocados and green peppers. Can you try eating bland and adding in things as you go? So for a few days just...
  24. Thanks for your replies. I really appreciate it. I haven't been feeling well the past few days and I think I have these moments where everything is so overwhelming that I can't imagine being able to deal with my medical problems and potentially a child and/or a child with medical problems. I really don't know how people do it! I'm amazed that women (and men...
  25. I don't know of any restaurants for you but just wanted to say I know exactly how you feel! I'm waiting on a job offer and one of the things I'm worried about is telling and explaining about celiac disease! Can you research a few of the close restaurants and make a few calls so the next time they ask you have options? Congrats. on the new job!
