  1. My husband decided to get tested thru Enterolab as a precaution when he got on a health kick. SO he got the results and he is gluten sensitive! I'm not happy for him because I know what I've been through since my diagnosis but I'm happy he'll be on his way to health. He's been gluten light since my diagnosis, only eating breads and stuff at lunch. And now...
  2. that doesn't sound so hard even though i was under the impression you put a whole fryer chicken in a pot of boiling water. it sounds like all i need is the "leftovers" and maybe a few bones and dark meat pieces. cool. thanks!
  3. Interesting thanks. I guess I just assumed if you are a celiac you are automatically allergic to wheat even though gluten is the protein that you are actually allergic too.
  4. I would like to try making my own chicken stock instead of using the salty boxed stuff. How long can I keep it in the fridge before it would go bad? Can I freeze it? And finally, does any one have a tasty but fairly simple recipe I can follow preferrably one that would be made in the crock pot? or I can wait until the weekend to make it on the stove if I...
  5. Recently I've read several posts where people are tested for a wheat allergy in addition to already being celiac/gluten-free. I'm confused- if you are already a celiac/gluten-free wouldn't you automatically be allergic to wheat?

    ARCHIVED Acne

Have you eliminated soy? I eliminated soy and my skin cleared up immediately. I use a basic tea tree oil soap to cleanse and then tone and moisturize (I use the toner and moiturizer from Suki). I notice that if I exfoliate too much (more than once a week) my skin breaks out also. Even if it's a mild exfoliant it's too much for my skin.
  7. Has any one had problems with these? I know the cleaning process involves using chlorine but figured they would still be safe. The Trader Joes lettuces all say they are processed on equipment shared with wheat but other brands don't state that. I am having a horrible reaction to something after being on vacation and buying a bag (usually I buy lettuce and...
  8. Can you find NOW brand? I take the sublingual B12 from NOW brands. I think some Whole Foods carry the brand.
  9. my great grandmothers homemade noodles and chicken (yummmmm) my grandmas pumpkin pie my grandmas chocolate chip cookies a gigantic cheese burger with a gigantic side of cheese fries and a newcastle beer a whole pizza from my fav. mom and pop pizza place three of my favorite chocolate fudge brownie sundaes from the ice cream shop........
  10. Hi- Stress can delay the start of you period. Try exercising and having sex. If my Aunt Flo is late, having sex seems to get it going within 24 hours (not sure why). Most of the tests on the market these days can be taken 3 to five days after your missed period. I trust the brand EPT the most. Just as an FYI the digital tests that are on the market now have...
  11. there are new vegan rice slices out that are soy, gluten and casein free. i've only found the slices so far and for satisfying the cheese cravings they're okay but my husband (no food allergies) took one bite and said no way they are made by Galaxy foods and i found them at my whole foods.
  12. Definitely stick to the gluten-free diet right now. If you start to add back in gluten and you do react then you are putting your body and your baby under stress. Many people on these boards say the diet is good enough with out a diagnosis. If you try and the diet and things turn around as they did in your case, stay on the diet. The definition here for IBS...
  13. if you know for sure it's not heart disease and is related to your diet then probably within a few weeks depending on how sick you were prior to diagnosis. my old co-workers feet and ankles used to swell up to the size of balloons when she ate something she was allergic too (if i remember correctly her biggest allergy was corn). i used to laugh at her (she...
  14. Are you staying in the City? There are quite a few options for you that offer gluten-free food and/or menus. Wildfire Adobo Grill (yum!) Vinci ($$) Carrabba's Da Luciano's Ben Pao Chicago Diner (vegetarian) Flat Top Grill Fogo de Chao Rezas
  15. I've also added a B6 vitamin into my line of supplements (Multi, B6, B12, Cal/Mag, Folic Acid). If you read the excerpt on Mayo Clinic you can see it's just as important to get enough B6 as well Open Original Shared Link I had been to so many specialists over my PN and for it to be something as "simple" as celiac disease floored me. If one doctor five...
  16. The labels of the ones I've found beofre usually contained soy flour or casein of some type which I can't have in addition to the gluten. Plus, I wasn't "ready" to add something back in but I was craving something new yesterday at the store so I bought the box. So far so good. I think I just might be having cereal for breakfast now
  17. I think I might have found a cold cereal I can eat today. It is the Amarath O's by Nu World Foods and although they definitely weren't high on the list of "best cereal I've ever had" they were tasty and did the trick to make me feel normal (I ate three bowls in a row I think the last time I had a bowl of cereal was at least February if not December ). Now...
  18. Hi! Congratulations on your pregnancy. That's wonderful! I hope you stay healthy for the next nine months and try to take it easy. I don't have personal experience (yet) but I have heard that mild cramping to the sides of the uterus pregnancy is normal as the uterus stretches. Congratulations again!
  19. I had cripling PN prior to my diagnosis. Mine was also unexplained and no doctor ever thought it was strange that a 24 year old girl had horrible pains in her hands and arms. Literally, my husband has had to do the dishes every night almost because I don't have the hand strength at the end of the day to hold the heavy pots to wash them (yes, many think this...
  20. Are you taking them with or without food? You may need to eat a small snack with the vitamins. You can also try taking them at lunch or dinner instead of first thing in the morning.
  21. i can't eat them. i do fine with the rice cakes though.

    ARCHIVED Tbtests

Thanks for the post. I'm starting a job at a hospital and have to do the TB thing. HOWEVER, I lived in Europe in the early 90's where they did mandatory TB testing for school children. I reacted positively to both the prick and bubble tests. Chest Xray was clear but they still put me on treatment as a precaution. I told the employee health lady at the hospital...
  23. Do you live near Chicago? I've been trying to convince my husband we should open one but he thinks no one "else" will come if we market it as a gluten free restaurant. but seeing as how just one of our local support group has over 750 memebers i don't think it would be that big of a deal if we were centrally located!
  24. Yum, Turkey Tom Tom Snack Sticks by Wellshire Farms (I find them at Whole Foods)....Delicious! And I like the allergy coding Wellshire Farms puts on all of the packing to say what its free of. I think the regular flavor is pretty spicey but I just bought the hot flavor to see what happens. Boy I wish I had those at work right now
  25. what flavor did you buy? i have one in front of me and it doesn't have those ingredients but i did buy it some time ago so they could have changed ingredients since then. this week i ate the blueberry bar and i have a protein bar and both of those seemed okay. check them out online at www.organicfoodbar.com for more info.
