  1. I had to make 50 "somethings" (ideally cookies but I didn't have time) for Make a Difference day. All I had was a bag of Breads by Anna pumpkin bread and Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips. I made the batter as directed on the package but poured it into a 9x13 pan, baked for about 35 minutes, dumped half the chocolate chips on top, put it back in for two minutes...
  2. Looking back, I've had symptoms my whole life. From the time I was born I had colic (drinking mom's gluten filled breast milk maybe??) and all through childhood I was the kid with mystery illnesses and ALWAYS sick. Took 28 years to figure it out. Lately I've been wondering if Autism is somehow related to undiagnosed Celiac. The numbers are so close together...
  3. ME! We were trying for a year and then my doc. suggested we try that first before going into clomid etc. I'm 14 weeks pregnant and we used the monitor for the first time in July Apparently, we were five days off on "knowing" when I was ovulating. If you have been checked out by your doc. for hormone imbalances and the like to make sure there isn't something...
  4. I found this yummy crustless pumpkin pie. i used a can of regular (full fat) coconut milk in place of the evaporated milk and it came out great. enjoy! not sure on how you could sub the eggs as I am back to using eggs at least in my baking. Open Original Shared Link
  5. i'm pregnant and on a pumpkin kick. these sound delicious! do you think coconut oil would work in place of the shortening? if not, what brand of shortening is gluten free that you all use? amy
  6. Thanks. I have a jar of the vapo rub and didn't even think to try it. i'm not sure if it's gluten-free or not either but if it helps and i just wash my hands right away i'm willing to try it. i have a killer headache and was hoping for some relief so i could sleep. i've started taking plain tylenol to help with the headache. i can't believe i got sick! i...
  7. I just called the makers of Tylenol Cold to see if is gluten free and she told me they reforumlated all of the upper respiratory products last year and are still testing them to see if they contain glutens. This includes Tylenol Cold and Tylenol Sinus. It does not include the pain relievers as those have not been reformulated. I'm also pregnant and my doc...
  8. Hi Amy- I know how you are feeling. It took us a year to get pregnant and I swear everyday produced some one elses pregnancy that I had to hear about. I swore I'd never be "that woman" who felt jealous over every one elses good fortune but honestly, it's completely natural. It doesn't mean you are not happy for them, it just means that you want to experience...
  9. the slow cooker is a life saver! i try to use it three times a week and then i only have to cook maybe those three times plus one other day. you can make practically anything in the slow cooker. they have whole cook books dedicated to recipes. One book I have is called Fix it and Forget it. Some recipes are naturally gluten free, others you need to substitute...
  10. I lost my other post....not sure what happened to it. I'm 12.5 weeks and craving mac & cheese (I'm dairy free too). Rich, creamy, buttery, cheddery, bubbly homemade mac & cheese from the restaurant down the street where I used to eat it by the pound. It had just a little bit of crust on the top and the cheese just melted in your mouth.... I ate...
  11. DaLuciano's is fairly close the O'Hare but you need a way to get there and back. Cabs are not plentiful in that area. The hotel might have a shuttle or something.
  12. Thanks! I was assuming the pita chips were made on the same line but good to know they aren't! Can't wait to get home from work now
  13. And they asked her how she deals with cravings during pregnancy while having Celiac Disease. I'm 12 weeks pregnant and was so happy to read her response which included the fact that you pretty much have to make everything from scratch. I've been dying to just pop into my formerly fav. restaurants for take out. Plus, it was nice to see the words CELIAC DISEASE...
  14. They say on the website they are gluten free but made on shared lines. I bought the Kettle Brand Baked Lightly Salted Potato Chips yesterday and before I dive in just wanted to see if any one had problems with them? I'm typically pretty sensitive and try to avoid shared line products in general but was craving something salty!

i eat out but only at places i trust and rarely try a new place. and i definitely don't eat out as much as i did pre diagnosis. it's very challanging for me to eat at other peoples homes as well. last weekend we were at my sisters. they did steaks on the grill. something told me not to eat it and stick to the food i brought. in the middle of the night my...
  16. sorry tiffjake to hear that you weren't pregnant after all. it's so hard waiting and then to find out it didn't happen that month. i hope you are doing better!
  17. Hi Congratulations! Did you dr. tell you what a normal result range is? Most people would say a "high" result is a positive result and no, most likely they would not do an endoscopy on you until after you deliver. It would probably be in your best interest, if your doctor confirms that the high result meant you are positive for celiac, to start eating...
  18. Thanks. I've foud Wellshire Farms Tom Tom Turkey Snack Sticks. They are gluten-free and so goood. Not sure about the nitrates. I'll have too look at the package. I buy their bacon and I know they don't put nitrates in that. Thanks every one!
  19. I know you aren't supposed to eat lunch meats during pregnancy unless you heat them up (ew!) but what about beef jerky? I just got a package of Welshire Farms turkey snack sticks which i love, ate three, googled beef jerky and pregnancy and saw a few things that said it's a no no. I have a drs. appointment on Monday but just thought I'd see if anyone here...
  20. Hi mommyagain- I'm due April 27th! This is my first but I noticed today my stomach is looking a lot more round than it has in the past At my first appt. I hadn't even gained any weight so I'm not sure where it's all coming from. I can sympathize with the weight gain thing. I've never gained a lot of weight for any reason and the whole weight gain with...
  21. Hey NoGluGirl- how did you find out that you had candida? When I was DX'ed I was showing a reaction to yeast, but it was mild. I went on a probiotic and thought it would be okay. But if I eat too much gluten-free baked goods with flour or to many starches/carbs I get really sick. I just assumed it was my body not being healed yet. Maybe I should look into...
  22. it could very well be rice. i can not eat rice in large quantities and it can't be a hardy rice like wild rice because then i'll be sorry! i was told to try the quick cooking rice because it's easier to digest for some people. rice in general is "roughage" and diffucult for the body to digest. i also find that if i eat too much potato then i'm sorry also...
  23. Hi Girls- I have irregular cycles also. Typically 32-45 days long and anywhere in between. I was dx'ed with PCOS. My doc. suggested Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor two months ago, last month was the first month we used it and i'm pregnant you use it every morning and it tells you the days of high fertility and then when you ovulate. it was $200 on Amazon...
  24. Thanks Sarah-. I'm not a big junk food person normally but I've been craving sugary stuff lately like starburst and orange pop. In fact, I went to Trader Joe's today at lunch and bought Italian Orange Soda and the bottle is almost gone. So bad! I really need to get on the healthy wagon again! While I am extremely tired most days I feel good for the most of...
  25. Congratulations! That is so exciting! Good luck with everything! And thanks for the tip. I hope to get to that point in April and be cooking up a storm too
