  1. All I have found that I can't drink the big wonderful glass of milk that I used to either but I can eat a 2 lb container of plain yogurt every 2 days. Apparently it's easier to digest and you get lots of calcium and protein plus the benefits of helping with the yeast overgrowth that some have talked about. Just drop some fresh fruit in and I think you...
  2. This is an email I got gro m Almay...I thanked them for at least their honesty. Dear Mrs. Appleman: Thank you for your recent comments from the Almay website and your interest in our products. Unfortunately, because of the way cosmetic ingredients are made and transported, we cannot guarantee that a product is gluten-free. If we can be of...
  3. MG....you crack me up!!
  4. This may be helpful to some in the SE. Open Original Shared Link
  5. Rose I bought the trimpgh dining cards that have the special needs written in like 5 different languages for differenct cuisines and I think I've been safe so far b/c they explain to the kitchen managers what you can and can't eat. I'm sure they would be very helpful for your daughter so she doesn't have to feel bad...we all can certainly sympathize.
  6. Sorry...that didn't go through. A firm diagnosis may be necessary however for insurance purposes...just a thought.
  7. I have white bumps on my face and had heard on other posts that yeast overgrowth is a problem for Celiacs. So I asked a holistic Dr online and this was the response. Not sure if it's realible but I'm taking the Garden of Life's supplement so I'll let you know if I have any "clearing." To answer you Jean, Celiac disease is becoming more common because...
  8. MLKramer Are you by chance in WI?
  9. Open Original Shared Link This is a link I found recently for Disney World and gluten free eating if you're hitting the MouseLand. I'm sorry I haven't been to Orlando since being diagnosed so I can't help in that way but I do wish you both so much fun and congrats on your upcoming wedding!! That's wonderful.
  10. If you show your Triumph Dining Card I have found that most places will try and help you. My favorite is Elmo's diner in Cdarrboro, NC next to Chapel Hill if anyone is ever in the area.
  11. I hope no one minds me posting since my teen years have long since past but we all share the same dining out issues no matter what the age. If you look up the triumph dining cards I think they will be of great help. They describe our limitations and you can hand them to the host even before you sit down so she can show it to the kitchen manager. They're...
  12. What state are you in and maybe we can at least help you get to a Dr even if you have to pay for some of it? Sometimes they will pay if you submit a claim for review and you have a corroborated diagnosis.
  13. I hate to be the pessimist on hormones but aside from Rice guy's very intelligent and logical comments on the subject, hormones are now popping up in so many areas as being cancer inducers that unless my life depended on it I wouldn't touch them with a 10 ft pole. I'm not an MD but I saw first hand the cancer my Mom suffered and died from and now the med...

    ARCHIVED Soy?

I've used La Choy Soy Sauce because I read it was gluten free and nothing ont he ingredient list stood out as being an issue. Anyone know if that's still true?
  15. Haven't seen anything about the cruises but here is someone who did Disney World Gluten Free Open Original Shared Link
  16. Ursa M Thanks so much for mentioning the Cod Liver Oil. Did you take supplements too or does that end up being way too much?
  17. I admire your tenacity but apparently unless you get tested before going gluten free you won't know if that's the true cause. I had petic ulcers five years ago and they totally missed the Celiac. If you Dr won't refer you for the blood test it might be time to change Docs. Hope you feel better soon!
  18. Sara I have a feeling that this may have nothing to do with the Celiac. I'm not an MD but a former co-worker of mine just went through what the Dr thought at first was vertigo. Her eyes started spining around cazy and they had to take her from work by ambulance. It ended up being an ear infection that went a bit awry. Not fun but I would not recommend...
  19. This lits is wonderful...thank you!
  20. Doe anyone take cod liver oil as a supplement? I found some orange flavored that didn't taste any worse than Nyquil but the nurse got grossed out...kinda funny. Anyway they told me to take 200mg of Vit d a day but I don't know ift hat's overkill with the cod liver oil which honestly I trust more.
  21. Oh very cool. I go to Dr Barrish at Wake Internal Medicine on Blue Ridge Rd in Raleigh if you need another doc. Please keep us posted.
  22. I've had a bunch of bloodwork since recently being diagnosed. May I ask which test is the one for Vit D...the CBC or something else?
  23. I recently read somewhere that 75% of seratonin which is your body's natural mood elevation is produced in your GI tract. Thus it does make sense that we all have some feeling of the glass feeling less empty since we are impacted so heavily. Getting the test done I promise will give you a sense of empowerment not just from finally knowing but from then...
  24. Yes this is a good article. And the last line is a crackup!
