  1. I have a friend whose youngest son has had 2 surgeries for what I believwas first called a cyst and then after the second surgery called a benign tumor in the cartilage surrounding one of his leg bones. The doctors have given no reason for this happening but being Celiac I of course now look to diet as an instigator for everything. Anyone had experience...
  2. Thanks for sharing everyone!!! I'll let you know when I get the genetic test what it says I am. So far I've just done the blood test and endoscopy. Which brings up another question...has anyone heard of anyone testing positive on both of those but neg on the gene thing?
  3. In my opinion we're all also reducing our sugar intake which reduces the bad yeast in your system that we all have from the processed foods we ate so while this is a good thing it can kind of feel funky. I was diagnosed at the same time as Hannah it sound slike and I agree that my cincentration and focus are a million times better plus I lost all the crazy...
  4. In the list of things that I read can prevent Celiacs from getting better the theme that keeps reoccurring is yeast overgrowth....maybe they can check that for her if nothing else. We truly help she feels better!!!!
  5. Might be a good question for HR at one of the Celiac centers like in San Diego and NY.
  6. OK this is really out of left field but last week was the first time in my life that I didn't get sharp pains in my back when my airplane got into a bit of rumble and tumble and it's the first time I've flown since going gluten-free in Feb. I evenn the Pirate Ship ride when I was 10 and came of bawling b/c of the pain. It's gone now but I am just really...
  7. If anyone lives in the Raleigh Durham,NC area one of the local research groups called me to be a part of study for a new RLS med. Holler and I'll put you in touch if you're interested.
  8. Amen Sister!!!!
  9. Does anyone know about the rubber bands they give you for braces? My ortho says their OK and they don't even use gloves that are dusted but I always worry about that.
  10. NoGluGirl May I ask how they diagnosed you with the yeast overgrowth? I'd like to get tested for that as well?
  11. She had yet another misinformed Dr on this morning who will be back in 2 weeks to talk about migraines. He says the medical community has no clue what causes them so I've sent my email in to highly suggest she look at Celiac since she suufers from them. Here's the link... Open Original Shared Link
  12. I think I read that 75% of your seratonin is produced in your GI tract so hopefully the longer you are gluten-free the more "access" you will have to your Seratonin and everything will improve. I was undiagnosed ADD I know and I have so much more focus even without ever having taken meds since I went gluten-free in Feb. It's absolutely amazing the difference...
  13. May Ia ask which of the gluten-free Gourmet books has the Savory Chicken Puffs recipe? I'm doing a wedding shower in June and would love to see a copy of the recipe.
  14. Some days I wish they would make some Willy Wonka type food pill with all your nutrients and no gluten just to make lunch easier. I'd pay some Oompa Loompas some serious money for that stuff!!!
  15. Cetaphil cream has been a life saver for my eczema!!!
  16. Sent my request in.
  17. Thank you!
  18. I imagine that the next 10 years will bring much enlightenment.
  19. RiceGuy Do you mind sharing what brand of lentils you buy and any suggestions on a brand of corn tortillas?
  20. This is a little out of the way for a Boston trip but I stayed here this weekend for work and the kitchen staff in the Minuteman Grill (hotel cafe) couldn't have been more helpful. The kitchen person on staff the first night actually cleaned the grill for me after reading my didning card. Just watch out for the brand of vinegar they use...it is malt vinegar...
  21. Anything to do with Insurance typically is based on what your particular employer put in the contract. If you can get a Dr to say it's medically necessary then you have a better chance even if it's not "typically" covered in your plan. Look at your Summary plan description or call HR and someone shoudl be able to tell you. Good luck!
  22. I went to my chiro the other day and he had suggested to one if his clients that he gradually back off the grains and he did so gradually over a few months and felt great. So the guy went and got tested and was Celiac so I think you have some time from what I've seen. Maybe Daniel's brother could ask one oft he GI doctors for advice?
  23. Is he SURE you have Candida and if so is he SURE he should put you on something like that so soon? Make sure your liver enzymes are checked monthly while you're on this med. I'm sure others will have other advice...hang in there.
  24. If you got to Carrboro please go to Elmo's diner and show them your dining card. They're very used to gluten-free diners there. Chicago Uno in Brier Creek off Glenwood also has a gluten free menu but I pretty much take my dining cards anywhere and I'm good. Rio Churrascaria off Strickland Rd doesn't saute their meats in anything but maybe lemon pepper and...
  25. Someone on this board a while back before I started visiting posted a long discussion about how some still feel symptoms many months after going gluten-free. I was recently diagnosed in Feb and really took her research into yeast overgrowth to heart b/c the symptoms are so much the same. I am now eating a very large container of plain yogurt with fresh...
