  1. I think it's that it's a complete protein, so has all the essential amoino acids necessary for digestion. I find it too bitter as well. Another though for crispy crust- try melting one tbsp honey with one tbsp water and when hot brush over crust. Will be sweet, but it makes the top crust on my honey bread fairly crispy.
  2. Alfredo, certain cookies, cheesecake, pumpkin pie. I dunno. Try going to Allrecipes and using their ingredient function, put in egg yolk and it will bring up anything that calles for egg yolk. Some will also call for egg white, but it works pretty good.
  3. Well, I'm feeling better, about 80%. I'm used to running on 80% so that's not bad. Went to work, took a nap. Now I'm eating pan fried chicken in olive oil, with garlic, lemon pepper and salt. Mmmmm..... Oddly enough, my veggie is fresh cucumuber. Nicely balances the highly peppered chicken, trying to clear out my nose. Should be better enough for more bunbuns...
  4. If you are truly NOT SCARED of dying, then you are WAY ahead of the curve. I tmay be difficult for other poeple to understand that you're not afraid of something that they fear, and they won't be able to sympathize. If, however, you are finding yourself DESIROUS of death, then you need some attention from a professional. I'm also curious if you've been...
  5. Sniffles n poos n persnickety people don't appreciate Joodee's bootiful house. N cinnamon buns.
  6. Also, be aware that a certain percentage of Celiacs react to even gluten-free oats the same way as gluten, so be very careful when proceeding with them. You may want to wait til you've healed for a while and them try them on a day when you'll be home, if you're one of those gastrointestinal sufferers like me!
  7. Hi. If you're going to add coconut flour, it's kind of easier to know how much to use on a case by case basis. Maybe you could giv eus a few of the recipes you intend to us? In general, when adding to a regular recipe, I would take out two tbsps of flour and use coconut instead, and add 1 tbsp of liquid to correspond. Don't forget to sift the coconut flour...
  8. Mmmmm, I was so far gone when I stopped eating wheat (didn't even know about gluten then) that my family thought I was dying, and my 'episodes' stopped overnight. Some people just respond really fast, others take months. It's hard to draw the line between gluten intolerant and Celiac, as so many of the tests are so completely unreliable. I personally don...
  9. So I'm gonna go to work tomorrow, in the hopes that routine will be good for me. Should be a quiet day, not too demanding, and I'm going to bed soon and getting up early so there's no rush in the morning and I can get there early to fix whatever might've happened Friday. I'm already 30% better today than I was yesterday, which is maybe not great compared...
  10. Egg wash?
  11. How bout the Duchess of Crimson Tides? I think once I'm better those cinnamon buns are gonna be my 'poor me' treat. I can't have any sugar when I'm sick, but I'll make them soon.
  12. All I got's: try eating a green apple, and rosemary tea, and your standard pharmacy stuff. The green apple thing seriously works on me when the headache hasn't reached epic proportions, it works on those nagging ones. So now I'm putting peroxide in my ears, taking zinc & vitamin C & cod liver oil, drinking Breathe Easy tea and my honey lemon...
  13. Dude, I just tried to clear my nose out by eating some raw garlic. Well, it works. It also LIGHTS YOUR TONGUE ON FIRE!!!!!
  14. Future reference- there's a restaurant in No Conway called Rafferty's Pub that has a gorgeous gluten-free menu, they're kids have Celiac, I'll be going there in a few weeks and will happily tell everyone how it was.
  15. Ohmygod I'm so doing that! The Bob's Red mill cornbread mix is awesome, never-fail. Strangely, tastes better when you use the dairy free version, and always improves with age, when sealed airtight.
  16. One of our favorite chicken recipes is honey mustard chicken- 1/2 honey 1/2 mustard, all over raw chicken breast, bake at 375. How much sauce depends on how much chicken. I sometimes put garlic powder on the chicken first, helps hold on the sauce.
  17. It may just be that since ears, nose, and throat are all connected, leaving it in your ear for a while allows it to leak through into your sinuses, helping to fight your infection. I use a saline nose rinse too, and was thinking about whether it would be safe to put some H2O2 in there.
  18. We always did that to clear up extra wax, I'm gonna go do it now!
  19. Oh hey Patee- You said you were phluish too, can I ask what sorts of remedies you use? I'm doin the garlic-chicken-onion thing, and lots of herbal tea and tea with ginger, honey, lemon, and cinnamon. I want my cinnamon buns.....
  20. I realize this is off topic, but maybe you think you could pop over to the recipes section and post your LOVELY sounding bread? Thanks! You'll find my cinnamon buns there!
  21. Oh!! Oh!!! My first royal decree: No more head colds. I s'pose I shouldn't complain, this is a pretty mild one compared to some I've had. And hey, no sore-throat-feels-like-I'm-swallowing-glass, just mild tenderness. I couldve gone to work today, if I hadn't been concerned about giving it to all my guests, I do work with food. They tend to find...
  22. It's ok, the whole staff has already heard the Jester's horror story and are online looking up gluten free recipes, since the royal cook is now the royal qween, they're going to rotate kitchen duty. The bugler's on honey lemon tea duty today, as I'm quite ill with this head cold. The Bugler knows he's not allowed anywhere near the hotel on pain of death...
  23. Well, he's not exactly.... excited.... right now, and I thought the thumb rule applied to -um- the 'full extension' of the appendage in question? Anyway, we got him some clothes. Now he can bring the robe down to the cleaners.... I need some stuff from the grocery, anyway. He's started to grumble about this gig not being very funny.....
  24. I know, that was frikkin hilarious. Thanks!!! Um, I thought I was the royal cook. So, like, who's gonna do it now that I'm qweenus officinalus? Oh, and don't worry about the jester. My boyfriend pointed his 303 at his head, and he dropped the robe and hasn't gone near it since. Jester's in the kitchen doing the dishes. I think he may be...
