ARCHIVED Is Anyone Else Just Angry That Drs Missed Celiac For So Many Years?
YoloGx replied to HaileyRay812's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There is so much that needs to change, that is obvious. Its actually heroic of you to speak out against such a wall of misunderstanding. More docs and nurses however do need to do so if anything is going to change for folks like us. We (i.e., those of the general public that has celiac and severe gluten intolerance) need the medical establishment to be on... -

Hi Shauna, kudos to you and to all of us who have similar impulses. For every person "saved" by our good words, there are many more that benefit. Not everyone listens of course, but enough do to make a difference. Certainly my boyfriend is infinitely grateful that he no longer has ADD or migraines, 2 conditions that his severe gluten intolerance brought... -

ARCHIVED Is Anyone Else Just Angry That Drs Missed Celiac For So Many Years?

I so l hear you. The thing is is that doctors and most of their supporting crew are not taught much if anything about nutrition--or diseases associated with it. This begins in college. I started to take a physiology class at the local community college, and on the first day the teacher said not to do any projects on things like Beri Beri since we... -
Skylark--I wish I could follow your path. I just don't know enough to comment, but it sounds/looks impressive too! From a simpler point of view, I looked up theobromine and discovered some people are sensitive to minute amounts. It is a poison that generally is more poisonous to dogs and cats than humans. Chocolate has very little of this substance, however...

ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take You To Wake Up In The Mornings?
YoloGx replied to Living Large's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi again, It really sounds like you are dealing with extra food sensitivities/allergies. I have had the same or should I say, a similar problem. Right now am again fluctuating, but no longer 10 pounds as I did in my twenties and thirties. Am trying out some homeopathics to see if they help. If they end up not working, I intend to get Phenol Assist or... -
ARCHIVED Emotional And Physical Damage

I have two friends living in Japan teaching English. Wish they were someplace like Korea instead given all the radiation these days. Shows you have a bit of gumption to live overseas in a completely different culture like that. Are you by yourself? Seems you have been going through major transformations this last 6 months, eh? Give yourself a break. Of... -
ARCHIVED Emotional And Physical Damage

Wow--that's adventurous. What country? Quite likely the blotchiness is yet another sensitivity/intolerance. I would eat very simply and keep a food journal to get some clues. Suspect everything. Look up food and chemical intolerances online. Sue Dengate is a good resource. If you can, take baths with epsom salts to help detox. It is good for the skin... -
ARCHIVED Emotional And Physical Damage
YoloGx replied to Living Large's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree it is pretty horrible to grow up being misunderstood by one's family and especially one's mother due to this dreadfully misunderstood and often not diagnosed condition. I have had some similar experiences. You can overcome not only the physical pain, but also the emotional and psychic pain and become the powerful woman you are meant to be. You finally... -
ARCHIVED Okay, So Is There A Safe Chocolate?
YoloGx replied to Harpgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am glad to hear no one else had a problem. Maybe it is something else?? Anyway, Skylark, I wasn't accusing, just noting my experience. I would hope we can note such things here. -

Hi Skylark, I got some kind of computer bug from the Sees download. Just thought I'd let you know. I am using a Mac so it was unusual. Had to trash the download umpteen times. Wouldn't let me do anything else but open it, which kept repeating. I closed down the computer and restarted it and emptied the trash yet again. Hate to think what it would do to... -
ARCHIVED 5 Months Gluten-Free And Still Tired, Inspire Me To Stick With It Please!
YoloGx replied to Twizzel's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with what Skylark said in principle, however its very possible to get over what appears to be hypothyroidism after you change your diet. That is what happened to both me and a very good friend of mine. Both of us were put on thyroid medication. I then had to go off it after a year since my eyes got all bugged out and it was obvious it was bad for... -
I too would be leery of having folks handle game board pieces like that--though actually having all the little crumbs on the game board too could be a problem since the cardboard is harder to clean. Personally I side with just not allowing gluten in the house. Otherwise its nerve wracking. You never know when in a moment of whatever, you rub your face...

I am betting you will feel better soon. By going the extra mile now, you will soon have more energy more than likely. I don't know of any plain white toilet paper you have to worry about. Desert Essence organics gluten free shampoo is a good choice. You can get it at Whole Foods or some such place. Plain unscented hypoallergenic Dove soap is also a good... -
ARCHIVED I'd Expect This From A Non-Coeliac - But Not A Fellow Coeliac!

As far as that woman who says she is coeliac and can eat at McDonald's--all I can say is "Ignorance is Bliss"! I dated a guy like that. Then I noticed how his eyes would get all red after eating someplace where the food was definitely cross contaminated (CC) with gluten. Like I said, Ignorance is Bliss. But it still doesn't help when it comes to feeling... -
ARCHIVED Bloating And Probiotics
YoloGx replied to glutenfreegirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
OK--My friend takes a product called Biocidin to the best of my recollection. I can confirm this tomorrow at work. He also uses colloidal silver. Another thing that helps against candida/fungus/and bacteria infections of the gut is grapefruit seed extract. Uva ursi is also good against various intrasigent bacteria, plus its very healing for the urinary... -
ARCHIVED Bloating And Probiotics
YoloGx replied to glutenfreegirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It could. I think however that probiotics are good for most everyone with severe gluten intolerance or celiac since it helps restore the beneficial flora in the gut. Nevertheless, your problem with the sugar is a good indicator its either candida or some other fungal problem or dysbiosis from some bacteria. In any case, a low carb diet for now would more... -

While my reactions were/are not exactly like yours, they are alike enough to make me think you might have a salicylate problem. I would check it out if I were you. There is info on the internet about it. Later on I will send you some sites. The benedryl, seafood, almond milk, spinach and hives are big clues... Are you intolerant of aspirin per chance?? The... -

Well its no wonder you don't feel very good. I tried living at my mother's house again recently and my health and energy went down to ground zero. I was trying to help her, but no matter, I ended up having to leave since how could I help anyone if my health is rotten?? Unfortunately some families just are not supportive. I personally would not touch anything... -

Hi, I just want to encourage you to stick with your diet. You are doing the right things, sometimes it just takes longer. It may also be that you have some other food sensitivities too. It might be wise to eliminate milk products and sugar right now. You could do a trial diet with none of the other common allergens too and see how you feel. However its... -
ARCHIVED Does Anybody Stuggle To Talk When Glutened?
YoloGx replied to speedy2056's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Speedy, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better again. People who have never experienced this kind of change just don't really get it. They think we are trying to be difficult or often don't have patience for our inability to talk more coherently. I guess now we all know its a relatively common experience, we can just tell them what is going on--yet... -
Ironically now that I am eating a low salicylate diet I tolerate maple syrup very well and some cane sugar now and then. Whereas before that I did not tolerate eating anything that converted to sugar quickly like ground up brown rice flour or any of the other gluten-free flours. Honey is a no no for me both now and previously. Thus the SCD didn't work...

ARCHIVED Does Anybody Stuggle To Talk When Glutened?
YoloGx replied to speedy2056's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry to hear you are struggling again to find the right words. I still have that problem now and again, and certainly do after getting glutened or after I have been exposed to something else I am either allergic to or sensitive to. It isn't our exclusive domain to get bloating--there are other causes than just gluten. Its common enough to have other... -

I had Lymes but got over it due to having a practitioner who used the Pap_Imi energy machine on me. I went in for frozen shoulder and found out I also had Lymes, which he treated and got rid of--i.e., both conditions. The inventor of the machine was actually the guy who inspired Star Trek's energy medicine machines! So I had to comment when I saw what you... -
Have you tried taking digestive enzymes? Pancreatic enzymes may be what you still need even though you've been on an anti gluten diet for some time. Bromelain/papain alternatively could help by themselves, and/or eat pineapple and papaya, assuming you aren't allergic to them. Pro-biotics may also help. The avocado could either be too oily for you (esp...
