ARCHIVED How To Handle Office Parties/get Togethers
YoloGx replied to badsharkmovie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
While its true it was thoughtless of them not to even offer to bring in an alternative for you, in actuality it is better for you to bring in food yourself so you won't risk getting Cross Contamination (CC) from some stray gluten. I speak from experience. With this condition its best to try and get over a lot of the social issues of feeling excluded around... -
Hi Stephanie, it it is true --if you have DH you have celiac. Its just another way fo r the body to react and the toxins to get out. By the way, if you want a definite diagnosis--its easier to get the DH diagnosed since the pustules are right there obvious on the skin. They have a way of finding out if its really DH or not. You might want to check into...

ARCHIVED Food Intolerance Symptoms The Same As Glutened Symptoms?
YoloGx replied to detritus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey mushroom--I have found using olive leaf tea along with detox is really helping me and Graeme get rid of the excess fungi. Am going to try a new to me product called Lefenuron or some such thing. Have you heard of it? It is the same stuff they give dogs for heartworm. I saw it recommended by several posters on some anti candida sites as well as a doctor... -

ARCHIVED Food Intolerance Symptoms The Same As Glutened Symptoms?
YoloGx replied to detritus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It can. I personally developed a semi intolerance to coconut milk. I now can have it once in a while--certainly no more than once a week. Many here cannot tolerate it at all--having to avoid coconut oil and even remove charcoal filtered water that uses coconut as its base. I personally have not had to go to that extreme. Did you get digestive disturbance... -
Are Glutino cookies made by "Toro"? I just looked it up and didn't see a reference to it--either as Toro or having wheat of any sort. What they do have however are "Natural Flavors" which can be, as you all know, created by using alcohol as an extraction method. It may be they used distilled grain alcohol, but that still gets me... Nevertheless the Glutino...

Beth, I just looked up oatstraw and it is part of the oat plant. I personally wouldn't touch it. Years ago I tried using oats as a kind of sedative to help me sleep at night. After a few months of this I ended up getting the shakes as well as worsened health in general. Out of that experience I eventually figured out that I had celiac from reading the...

I agree. I doubt I could handle it given how sensitive I am; however there are others who aren't as sensitive. Here in the States for instance distilled whiskey is considered safe for many celiacs--but I reacted badly repeatedly just from kissing an ex boyfriend who drank it. I also ate some "Glutino" cookies from Canada that are supposed to be gluten-free...

Hi Beth and all, I am glad my experience interests you. The following will I hope answer most of your questions. Horsetail just might work--it does have tons of silica in it. I have no idea how much to take--so I suggest trying trial and error and see if its enough help\. I would stay away from oatstraw if it is related to the wheat family. Is it??...

I use the Jarro liquid silica brand (Jarrosil -- I think). Previously I used "Biosil." Both work. I continue to be amazed at the improvement I am noticing... I used to peel my nails in the old pre-supplement and pre-awareness days that the wheat family bothered me. I improved but had to go off all trace gluten to do better. And even with all my other...

Joint pain is very common with celiac--both due to inflammation from glutening as well as general poor absorption of minerals which often causes hypermobility making it easy to overstress joints. Vitamin D is important too. What has made a huge dif. for me is to take liquid silica drops as well as msm along with all my other minerals. Its good for building...

ARCHIVED More Susceptible To Colds And Flu Now?
YoloGx replied to book-worm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have had the same experience--no colds or flu since I have gone off all gluten and trace cross contamination(CC). I do have to be careful if I have been glutened however, and make sure I take time out if I have been. By not doing so in the past I got dreadfully ill with bacterial infections no less!! And yes my history in the past pre going off all trace... -
ARCHIVED Can I Still Be Glutened ...
YoloGx replied to AlysounRI's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Reminds me--I was thinking how much stronger and more resiliant we actually are against colds and flue and have a tendency to look younger etc. if we stay off the gluten--so we really are in many ways much stronger than most folks. But all it takes to get us is if someone throws glutenous flour at us!! Unfortunately it is much more prevalent than superman... -
ARCHIVED Inability To Concentrate, Fuzz Brain
YoloGx replied to kayo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Kayo, You really could be getting trace gluten somehow. I found for me trace amounts can have an insidious effect. Try to figure it out. It could be from vitamins or shampoo or hand cleaner or even just shaking people's hands and not washing afterward if later on you touch your mouth. I also find I am very sensitive to breathing in particles... -
I would get a new grill. The other respondent is right--the gluten is baked into the grill and won't come out except at 600 degrees for half an hour. Possibly you could stick it into your self cleaning oven and hope for the best?? But for 15 dollars it might be worth getting a new one. Maybe you could have two grills, one for you and one for the rest (who...

I have had similar nerve problems which can still recur, particularly after I have been glutened. I discovered a while back that I am B-1 deficient, which causes Beri Beri like symptoms. Certain Nordic families in particular have this trait--though my friend who is English and Welsh also seems to suffer from some similar symptoms. In any case I have...

ARCHIVED Feeling Really Depressed Today
YoloGx replied to butterfl8's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a similar issue at my elderly Mother's. The funny thing is is that mostly she is gluten free--but not entirely. That and years of having gluten there make it impossible for me to stay there. I did stay recentty for two weeks with my gluten intolerant bf and we both got glutened several times with migraines galore. It just isn't worth it. We tried cleaning... -
ARCHIVED Inhaling Versus Ingesting
YoloGx replied to NorthernElf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have had severe glutenings from inhaling glutenous dust. The worst was from some pies my youngest brother made in my Mom's kitchen. I walked by, thinking he was making the pies with non gluten flour. How wrong I was! Second was going through a pizza parlor. Recently I got glutened several times staying at my brother's apartment. He had used pre-mixed plaster... -
ARCHIVED Food Diaries - A Must For Those Starting Out
YoloGx replied to kayo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is an excellent idea. I did the same years ago long before I knew I had celiac. By going on a very restricted cave man diet and then gradually expanding my repetoire while writing down all my symptoms, (including my pulse by the way--before, after and then a couple of hours after eating) I was able to figure out I was intolerant of the wheat family... -
thank you Tiffany for your informative description of yoga postures with pictures. I have had yoga instruction in the past and try not to go past my limits too often. The back bends I do is less aggravating on the hips than the one you show. I use a large ball or this special back flexion device I lie on for the one. The other I use my elbows to support my...

Thank you everyone for all your great suggestions! I think I should get back to using fresh ground flax seed like I used to and take my fish oil more consistently. I do take primrose oil regularly. I also think I need to use regular oils more too to help build up my nerves. Get some more coconut oil etc. Maybe even do a little baking or make pancakes...

My sciatic nerve pain has been increasing of late. I periodically think I have solved this problem, and then it comes back again. Am discovering using St. John's Wort oil on painful areas actually does help. However I also do yoga and walking daily as well as push ups and sit ups etc. to help deal with it. Was originally caused by a childhood accident which...

ARCHIVED 2 Months gluten-free And Now Have Itchy Bumps, Any One Have These?
YoloGx replied to sandiz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Detox herbs like dandelion, licorice root and cleavers can help. Sounds like your body is trying to detox on its own and the liver and lymphatic system is maxed out. These herbs help those two systems along. Using marshmallow root can also help by reducing inflammation and helping to heal the damaged villi lining your intestines--which likely is the source... -
ARCHIVED Ugh... How Depressing Is This?
YoloGx replied to luvs2eat's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had to years ago, but that was (and is) due to my sensitive kidneys and tendency to get candida overgrowth. If you don't have some condition like that, its likely your body's response is to recent addition of gluten to your favorite forms of alcohol.Vodka is often made with grain alcohol for instance (and not just potatoes as it should be!), which can include...
