  1. I was wondering the same thing. Since going gluten-free I've gained about 5 pounds and am about the heaviest I have ever been and my clothes are too tight. Even though it is only a slight weight gain, it is making me miserable. I eat a very healthy, balanced diet and exercise almost every day. My dietary changes have not been especially significant....
  2. I've never been much of a bread eater so giving it up didn't take much thought for me. I haven't been gluten-free very long and am surprised how easy has been getting used to eating burgers without the bun. I still have to have my occasional bagel though!
  3. My son has had it on his arms and cheeks ever since he was a baby. Once a doctor recommended Eucrin Plus cream in the jar. Don't know if that is something safe for a celiac to use but it does help him if he uses it consistently.
  4. I haven't been able to find the Ritz type Glutino crackers. Are they in a box like their other crackers and do they have a special name? One weekend when I have time I want to make a special run to the store in Dillsburg; it is probably a couple of hours from me. Is it worthwhile? Thanks!
  5. Yeah, I will remember that. Now you can work on him about some gluten free food! Thanks for sharing.
  6. I also eat their salad bar and take my own dressing. I also eat their baked potatos. I think their triple prime burger is good also, but you should double check. I was informed it is all fresh beef, no fillers, etc. The fries at my Ruby's are cooked in a shared fryer so they don't work. Last time I was there I asked to see the manager to discuss gluten...
  7. OMG they are delicious! My family woofed them down in no time. I used Pamela's mix for the flour. It took quite a bit longer than 20 minutes to cook but I'm not sure if the Pamela's had something to do with it or not. thanks for sharing!
  8. What do you think are the best sources of fiber on a gluten-free diet? Thanks.
  9. Can you tell me how many calories are in the Glutino burger buns? I recently went to Whole Foods to buy theirs to find they had 360 calories each. Yikes! That changed my mind pretty quickly and I went without.
  10. I guess it wouldn't have bothered me if it sounded like he was surprised at what I was eating or being inquisitive. But the way he said it, I felt more like he was accusing me of doing something I shouldn't. I think I'll give him another test. I'll try eating a bagel in front of him sometime soon and see if he says anything. I'll be sure to listen to...
  11. Thanks for your responses. I felt like he was being more critical than anything, but maybe he was just surprised. I did tell him it was gluten-free. For me, at least, it would be none of his business since I don't suffer any of the digestive symptoms of being glutened and it wouldn't affect my work at all. I don't know if this is harder or easier,...
  12. The other day I was eating gluten-free pizza for lunch a work. My boss came in and said, "Oh, is that on your diet?" I know it is dumb, but it really ticked me off. I can handle my own diet restrictions fine. Further, I just don't think it is any of his business. If I want to cheat, that is my prerogative (I'm way too afraid to cheat) Just wondering...
  13. I think there is a health food/co-op type store in downtown Bar Harbor, right across the street from the square/park in the middle of town. It is called the Alternative Market. Here is some info: Open Original Shared Link Maybe you can call them and see what they have to offer. I never went in there because I wasn't diagnosed when I was there...
  14. This is great to hear. We are sailing on the Freedom of the Seas in August. Do you know anything about the burgers and hot dogs at lunch? I really dislike having to get dressed to go to the main dining room at lunchtime so I am looking for gluten-free sources for lunch and breakfast. They didn't have ANY gluten-free desserts? I can't believe it....
