Sarah, Have no fear the other nut butters taste terrific. I just wish I could afford to buy them more often. My favorite is macadamia nut butter. It is easy to make your own also. Just grind your favorite nut, sunflower seed, or pumpkin seed. You can buy sunflower seed butter that is very close to peanut butter. I like and enjoy them all. Just...

Piccolo replied to 3groovygirls's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
3 groovy girls, Let me tell you about my experience. My reaction to gluten is gut pain. One time I started using my son's peanut butter. I wondered why later in the week my gut hurt. Also I was using the shared toaster and again my gut hurt until I got my own. So yes you need a gluten free toaster, butter, mayo etc. anything that can be dipped into... -

Piccolo replied to clnewberry1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, and welcome to the club. I have been gluten free for about 2 1/2 years. It took me a year before I was fully healed. There is yeast free bread available. I get mine from Ener-G. It is very dense and the only thing it is good for is toast. Here is my typical breakfast. Cooked cereal with brown sugar and milk (any kind) toast with butter substitute... -
ARCHIVED Feel Like We Are Back To Square One
Piccolo replied to theclutterhouse's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Theclutterhouse, Welcome to the site. It is a great place for learning. Do you know if your children have other food sensitivities? That might be contributing to the problem. Also play dough has gluten. Dairy can also cause problems. What about all personal care products. They must be gluten free also. Susan -
Welcome, I am a native of Northwest Indiana currently living in the Atlanta area. I am from Gary. Gary is only about 30 miles from Chicago. The South Shore takes you right into the Chicago Loop. I don't know where the University of Chicago is either, but I hope this helps. The CTA is a good way to get around also. Susan

ARCHIVED Immuno Labratories Blood Test?
Piccolo replied to Poppy Cat's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Poppy Cat, It was the very same tests that led me to be gluten free. I tested positive to 21 different foods. Some of them I went back to eating as long as I rotate them in my diet. The two that I haven't gone back to is gluten and wheat. It has taken two years for my system to get normal and figure out what else was bothering me. Welcome to the... -

ARCHIVED Cross Contamination & Lay's
Piccolo replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Woolygimp, Unfortunately Frito Lay is known for their cc. I think their Stax is done on a dedicated line. I once had one of their products that appeared safe. The only thing it had in it that was an obvious problem was oat flower (I don't react to oats). The next day my 6 hour dizzy spell hit and there was nothing I could do by lay there. Hope... -
jjc Welcome! With Rice Chex it has to be the new box that reads gluten free. If it doesn't she got gluten. As for Rice Dream it contains gluten. The package used to say contains .002 ppm barley. So they have changed the package but not the formula. I would buy other rice, almond, hazelnut etc. milk. Pacific is a good brand. Susan
