  1. Angie, Yes it is possible to be sensitive to garlic. When I had my blood drawn for the 96 foods garlic was one item that showed positive. I rarely ever have garlic now. Also now that I have been away from it for so long the flavor is almost too strong for me now. I also can't eat onions. Hope that helps. Hope she gets better. Susan
  2. I had immidate clear up to most of my GI symptoms, but it took almost a year for complete healing. Susan
  3. I have been gluten-free/cf for almost 2 years now. I cannot tolerate any dairy at all. I know within an hour or two if I have had anything with dairy in it. Typical day of food for me is. Breakfast Hot cereal with soy or rice milk, toast, nut butter and jelly Lunch Dinner left overs "sandwich" from corn tortilla with either turkey or home made chicken...
  4. I had my blood drawn for 96 food sensitivities. Egg white was one of them. When the sensitivity is the egg white you can either just eat the yolk or as a food list recommended duck eggs. I tolerate duck eggs very well. The last time I bought them they were $6.00 per dozen. Hope that helps Susan
  5. Too many years ago when I told my doctor of GI problems I got diagnosed with IBS live with it. I never brought it up again. Fast forward to now. As doctors read a history that I wrote the comment is "you have malabsorption issues." A GI doctor ran the celiac blood work at 1 1/2 gluten free of course it came back negative. I just saw a doctor about osteoprosis...
  6. Hay everyone I had to weigh in on this one. I am 5'. I was glad to see that others are my weight. I am just hitting the 80 pound mark. That is a gain of 7 pounds in the year I have been gluten free. I wear a size 2 that is starting to get tight. One grandmother was under 5' the other was over. See what genes I got. Susan
  7. SandyG, I recommend the bone scan. My back started curving down when I was in my 30's. I had no treatment or recommedations. I am now 59. I asked for the bone scan and I am already a -3.5. Treatment now can prevent what happened to me. It is treatable. Susan
  8. I saw a GI doctor for the first time. He decided to run blood tests. Everything came back normal and I did not carry the gene. I also had been gluten free for a year. The lab was Prometheus. I got stuck with a bill if about $700.00 that I am working on paying off. Tons of fun. Susan

    ARCHIVED Tolerances

If you are still eating Rye you are not gluten free. That is one item that must be avoided. Most likely there is wheat in the spices so that could be the problem. Susan
  10. Hathor I really don't know what my yeast reaction is. My general GI symptoms have been lots of gas, dirrahea, etc. I don't notice any difference when I have something with yeast in it. I tested off the charts for yeast. Here is the list. I will quote it. "Your test result showed a positive score for both Baker's yeast and Brewer's yeas, indicating...
  11. Powerbraid I am very sensitive to casin (sp). I eat goat yogurt about once a week. I have also had buffolo yogurt. That is made from the whole milk and is very high fat. I cannot touch any cow milk. Susan
  12. Hathor, I tested sensitive to bakers and brewers yeast through my blood. I now eat yeast free rice bread (Ener-G). Anything Fermented is to be avoided (vinegar). That is all I can think of right now. My avoid list is at home and I'm not near it right now. I was also told to try what I was sensitive to and if I don't have a reaction I can go...
  13. Dear Carter's mom, Hi and welcome to the board. You will find a lot of information and support here. I'm glad to see Carter is doing so much better. Susan
  14. Clover, PM= means private message. Hope that helps. Susan
  15. Patti I will throw out the suggestion could you home school your daughter for now? I speak from experience. My son was withdrawn from the third grade at the time. I tried forcing him to go to school. Sometimes he was doubled over. Many time when I took him I would have a call to pick him up just as soon as I got home. The two years that...
  16. Angie, Why not take a photo of the art work? That is what I did with my son. That way you will still have it and it won't disinegrate. Susan
  17. Billie I have not been diagnosed. In April 2006 I had my blood drawn for 96 food sensitivities. I was positive for 21 different foods including wheat and gluten. I went gluten free after receiving these results. Since I have had a few reactions from sometimes unknown ingredients I am afraid to try any foods that I am sensitive to because I don't...
  18. Billie, Welcome to the board. You and I have a lot in common. I am just a few years older then you, but our weight is about the same. I weigh about 77 as I write this. I have been this weight for years. I can't gain either. At least I can claim to be the smallest in my whole family. The only problem I have being small is I have osteoprosis and...
  19. Yes I would have the DEXA Scan. I noticed my shoulders start curving down in my 30's. I did nothing about it. At one point my pcp said take Oscal-D. It caused too many GI problems and I stopped it. Fast forward to now. At 58 one year ago I had a heal scan and I was -3. In December I broke my toe and I am still having problems with it. I was started...
  20. Mariam From what I understand one needs to take calcium, magnesium, and vitamine D3 for everything to work. I'm wondering if things are working for me because the bone scan for osteoprosis for me was a -3. I have been on Boniva and calcium and I don't think my bones are getting better. Hope that helps. Susan
  21. For the egg intolerance I have been eating duck eggs. I like and enjoy them. I have no reaction to them and I like the richer taste over chicken eggs. Duck eggs also work well in any recipe. I paid about $6.00 per dozen. Susan
  22. Dear Holiday, I can not have any dairy at all. I do react. If I get a lot i'm on the pot within 2 hours. If it is a small amount I don't know it for a while. My bathroom habits change and I wonder why. Casein is the protein if one is sensitive to it it is life long avoidance. After a few of the reactions I've had I'm happy to avoid it. Susan
  23. Melissa, If this is any news to you my now 18 year old son ate macaroni and cheese for has main food for about 10 years before he ate everything. His health did not suffer because of this. Susan
  24. Nisa's Mama I would not trust Rice Dream. It has said in the past that it contains a small amount of barley. I use the rice beverage from Pacific. This is good. "Forget what I said about Rice Dreams. I just read this thread and found out that, while the packaging has changed, the formula has NOT." I just found this on the thread about soy milk...
  25. Tritty, I drink 8th Continent Soy. The chocolate is real rich and I like it better then anything else. Vanilla rice milk is good for cooking and baking as well as on cereal. Susan
