  1. Any Self-Diagnosed Catholics? I smiled when I saw the topic title, thinking don't tell me Catholicism is now classed as an illness!! I know what was meant, it was just the way it read. I'm a Catholic and Celiac with an additional Wheat allergy so the wheat starch hosts were a no-no. Plus the fact I was a heavy drinker (Alcoholic)...

  3. I was prescribed Neurontin for 'Shingles' which is common in immune supressed individuals (like Celiacs) It is a Neuro-Viral condition. I can't tell if Neurontin had any specific side-effects as I was on a cocktail of medication at the time, Celiac, Diabetes Type 2, Asthma and Shingles. I just remembered that I was completely shattered and slept...

  5. Thanks Peter, That's an old link when Gluten Free was allowed up to 200PPM. But in January 2012 a new World agreed standard of 20PPM comes into effect, even Australia have accepted the Global standard of 20PPM even though they themselves work to a standard of 6PPM. This Global standard won't change Australia's 6PPM standard. David
  6. Gluten Free < 20PPM, but how small is that! Here is a Visualisation of what 20 parts of 1 million parts looks like !!! . This is 1 Million dots (you need to scroll right to reach 1 million) . Each of the small squares =100 dots (20 = 1/5th of the small square) Each of the large squares =10,000 dots. . This Visual can be interpreted...

  9. I did an awful lot of experimenting with bread recipies 90% went to the birds to eat, and on occasions even they wouldn't eat it. To start to avoid unnecessary waste only use enough for 1 loaf until you have it right. I'm not sure about King Arthur Flour (don't know the mix) use one packet of yeast per loaf (2 1/4 tsp) Use 2 tsp of sugar per...
  10. Hi Josh, My Fingers are straight, but then what's normal ? each individual is different. There are two things that struck me straight away. 1. Curvature of your fingers 2. Little finger (Pinky) much shorter than then 1st distal joint on the ring fingers. (a visible indicator for Celiac disease etc) I don't suffer (as yet with rheumatism...

  19. I have 3 different facebook accounts for various reasons, someone with a personal vendetta caused me to change and the other one is to host only photos albums which don't link back to me. each account was created under a different e-mail address, each far removed from the other both in user name and provider. It can be done and you can stay relatively...

  21. Maybe the fillings (Valu Brand cream cheese contains wheat protein) or cross-contamination, maybe get 'GIG' to send them guidlines about avoiding cross-contamination while preparing food for Celiacs. Using the same knife that buttered wheat bread to cut smoked salmon (naturally gluten free) caused me 6 hrs later to cramp badly, vomit for a full day and...
  22. Ans to above: Prior to testing it's recommended that you eat 4 slices of wheat bread per day for 6-8 weeks to get an accurate reading. If you've been Gluten Free for a long time and feel better on the Diet and there is no medical requirement to test (only for your own satisfaction) and there is no benefits of a biopsy diagnosis, then you may want to skip...
  23. Initially you won't have a reaction to minute amounts of gluten (from barley malt, cross-contamination etc) yet they are have an effect on the villi, it's the cumulative effect of ingesting small amounts over a long period of time that will then show as problems. If you had a blood test right now the readings would be off the scale. I never take chances...
