ARCHIVED Old-timers Help! Reacting Again!
mamaloca2 replied to oceangirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am a newby but i think this is your problem. if you are gluten intolerent you should stay Gluten-FREE, any amount of gluten will cause problems. Your body can respond to gluten much more after you have been gluten free for a while and go back. I know that I have become even more sensitive to it after only 4 months gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Sandy Bowel Movements
mamaloca2 replied to Kujda's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes. this is just like my daughter when she gets gluten. Doctors frustrate the heck out of me! if you do a search for "sandy poop" or "grainy poop" it will take you right back to this forum where other parents talk about the same experience w/ their kids. Unfortuanately you have to do a lot of your own research because doctors don't understand this disease... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Had This?
mamaloca2 replied to whattodo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Gluten intolerance causes inflammation rather than destruction of the intestinal villi. Could be that you are intolerant rather than have celiac. But I would look further into it to be sure. -
ARCHIVED Intolerance To All Grains?
mamaloca2 replied to alamaz's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm so sorry to hear that. Hopefully, it will subside. Could it be an intolerance to something else you ate with or on that meal? Like casin, corn, msg? I just realized I have a problem with MSG, which also gives people headaches, is it possible the chips or salsa had MSG? Check out this link to find out what else MSG is disguised as on the lable. ARCHIVED Is There Something Else Going On Here?
mamaloca2 replied to mamaloca2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am eating better, and the vitamins I'm taking are powerful detox vitamins. Maybe that is what is going on. I feel better this afternoon for the first time. I have not had blood work done on me. If this continues though, I think I'd better. You have been a terrific help Carla, more than once. Thank you! -
ARCHIVED Is There Something Else Going On Here?
mamaloca2 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was hoping someone might help me sort out why I have been feeling "out of it" and clumsey. I have been gluten free (besides a few mishaps) for 2 months now and have been improving. The last three days though, I have felt like I've been drifting through a dream and I am feeling clumsey (mostly my hands) and a little dizzy from time to time. This fogginess... -
ARCHIVED Any Comfort I Can Give?
mamaloca2 replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am certainly not an expert about this, but it seems like dairy can effect people differently, so you never know. Also, did you know that some hummus can contain gluten? I would double check with the company you buy from if you haven't already. Good luck! -

My nutritionalist is a naturalpatic doctor and told me the get the supplement "Glutamine". It speeds up healing of the intestines and works well for tummy aches too. It is just basically all natural food for your gastrointestinal cells, so it is safe and no side effects. Little pricey, but worth it. Hope it helps! -
ARCHIVED Can't Find My Answer In Any Another Post...can You Help?
mamaloca2 replied to jessdreams's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"Is it possible that my diet was too low in gluten to show the anitbodies in my blood but high enough to cause symptoms? I have been gluten free since the test since that seems to be the real test and I "think" I feel better but I'm not sure of anything anymore. " I think it is very possible that could have effected it. Also, if you are gluten intolerant... -
I just read last night that I am not supposed to use a match on a tick! I wish I would have known, I feel so guilty! I hope that is not what he has but I do want to be safe. I will wait for blood test results and find a lyme specialist regardless of results. Thank you for all your help. I had no idea how serious all this was!

ARCHIVED Got Blood Test Results - No Idea What They Mean!
mamaloca2 replied to Lissa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My nutritionalist explained to me that you can have neg. results for celiac but be gluten intolerant instead. He explained that the two act the same but the difference is that in Celiac the villi are destroyed, and if you are gluten intolerant your intestines are inflamed. Both lead to malabsorbtion just differ in the mechanisms that cause it. In the case... -
Thanks everyone for your imput. I will keep you posted!

I did end up pulling it out with tweezers, but first I tried to get it to back out on it's own with a hot match tip. (My mom used to do this with us when we were kids) I had a blood test run on him to find out if he has Lyme, but I now I've read they are not accurate. Should I just have him put on antibiotics to be safe? And He's 5, does he really need...

Hello, I was hoping that some of you that are familiar with Lyme disease could give me their opinions. My son was bitten by a tick about a month ago. I removed the tick but accidentally killed it while I was getting it to back out so I had to pull it. I think whatever was left, his skin pushed out. It scabbed over and there is a small nodule left over. Anyway...

This disease IS a pain. and I don't ever know what to think! I feel like I've been glutened the last few days, but can't figure out how. I bought that book by Peter Green, and he said if you don't eat it, it can have gluten in it, but from all your testimonials, I'm not so sure if he's right ! I've been staying away from it just in case

ARCHIVED My Son Is Having Problems.
mamaloca2 replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You may want to ask the doctor about possible damage to his intestines. Long term diarrhea/constipation can damage the smooth muscle and he may not have much control over his bowels. Be patient with him, as I am sure it is embarrassing for him. Maybe look into pull ups just for school at least, until you get the problem under control. -
ARCHIVED My Son Is Having Problems.
mamaloca2 replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
"Fast forward a couple years-- He was what we've always called "a difficult potty trainer." To be frank, he had poopy accidents every day. AND STILL DOES, almost every day. It's extremely sticky, and grainy, darkish in color, though. The smell is appalling. " This is EXACTLY my daughter. I took her off gluten and within a few weeks she was back to normal... -
ARCHIVED Biting Inside Of My Cheeks

Us too! Even if it's not related to celiac, seems like there's got to be something more to it. Thanks for your reply! -
ARCHIVED Biting Inside Of My Cheeks
mamaloca2 replied to mamaloca2's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't have any other traits that are OCD. And I only really bite them when a am stressed. I just noticed when I got glutened that I did it much more, and thought there could be a connection. -
Does anyone kno wif there is a connection between Celiac disease and habitual biting of the inside of the mouth. I have done it since I was a kid and now my son who is only four does it. Does anyone else have this problem?

ARCHIVED Irritability, Crabbiness
mamaloca2 replied to Sheriinwi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you for posting this! It's so nice to know I am not alone. I am self-diagnosed so I am always second guessing myself as far as reactions go. I have noticed that I become extremely irritable when I am glutened and my daughter who is a celiac becomes a temper-tantrum little stinker that cries on a whim. I tested my gluten intolerance this weekend and... -
ARCHIVED Hygiene Ingredients
mamaloca2 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I am new to all this and just realized I need to have gluten-free cosmetics and soaps. The problem is I don't know what the gluten derived ingredients are called. Can anyone give me some key words I should be looking for? Thanks! -
I am new to all of this. I self-diagnosed about a month ago and I have been getting progressively better but not completely. I have occasional bouts of diarrhea which I didn't have before, and my cracked lips will almost completely heal and then get worse again for a couple days. I am pretty sure I am getting gluttened by not sure how. I try to use separate...

ARCHIVED Why Am I The Unlucky One To Gain Weight?
mamaloca2 replied to tbradley93's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have had the same symptoms as well. My rash on my chin and took a couple weeks to go away. It returned once since I Glutened myself on accident a couple times in a row. My daughter also has celiac and has terrible consipation. She cried when she tried to go. It's terrible and if it makes you feel better to stay away from it, so be it! -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Other Allergies!
mamaloca2 replied to ptkds's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Poor baby! And poor you! I am still new to the who gluten-free thing and don't know a lot about food allergies. We don't really care for the whole brown rice bread but it is good for toast with peanut butter for a filling snack, or jelly or almond butter if she has a problem with peanuts. My daughter loves sweet potatoes for a snack or dessert. They look...
