ARCHIVED Anyone From Atlantic Canada
Carriefaith replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hey Brenda! I am also from PEI! I do a lot of shopping at the Nature's Harvest in the Charlottetown Mall (There is also one in the Confederation Court Mall). They have Sterk's products (which are awesome), and you can also order Rosie's Gluten Free Gourmet Food from the Nature's Harvest as well (I think this option is fairly new). Open Original... -
That sounds great, and maybe the person getting sick could be a rebellious teenager who refuses to eat gluten free and then they get so sick they have no choice? Then the person starts the gluten-free diet and gets better!

ARCHIVED Are Oats Gluten Free?
Carriefaith replied to lizjay's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For me it's not worth the risk, It's obvious most oats are contaminated. I don't trust them so I don't eat them! -
ARCHIVED Struggling With Ibs/cd
Carriefaith replied to luvalble54's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That's great that the diet made you feel better. BUT... In order to get accurate results on the celiac blood test or a biopsy of the small intestine, you have to be eating gluten. If you've been gluten free for awhile (like 2 weeks) you may get a false negative. I think you should get tested especially when you got so sick after having gluten. -
ARCHIVED Quite Disheartening....
Carriefaith replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks Karen, I feel better... I really hope that you are feeling better soon. Maybe it was just a combination of gluten contaminations that has been keeping you ill. I have a feeling that is was those chips keeping me sick. I mean chronic diarreah usually doesn't just go away for no reason. -
ARCHIVED Quite Disheartening....
Carriefaith replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well I don't know, but I have been a lot getting better within the last few weeks and I just elminated them from my diet about a month ago. I have a feeling that they were causing my problems. It's just kind of convenient that I cut them out of my diet and then I start feeling better. I feel bad I think I was the one that said they were ok to eat... -
ARCHIVED Quite Disheartening....
Carriefaith replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey Karen, I'm sorry to hear that I was just wondering how long you have been gluten free? As you know, I too have been stuggling and not getting better. I thought I was never going to get better. The doctors told me I had IBS in addition to celiac and I thought I was going to be like this for the rest of my life. However, within the last 2 weeks... -

Carriefaith replied to mamaathome's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The Neutrogena suncreen I used had oat extract in it. I had to look at the non-medcial ingredients, which were not on the bottle (I had to look online). -
If you are looking for broth, try Imagine products: Open Original Shared Link McCormick makes gluten free cubes.

ARCHIVED Sunscreen
Carriefaith replied to mamaathome's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I reacted to Neutrogena suncreen and I didn't realize that it had gluten in it. celiac3270 is right, but if you put suncreen on your face and then sweat... it will go into your mouth. That's how I got sick (I bought Neutrogena suncreen for my face). I use Banana Boat with no problems. -
ARCHIVED Lactose Intolerance
Carriefaith replied to JacobsMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have to avoid dairy like gluten, any amount of dairy makes me sick. It's common in celiac's, for many lactose intolerence goes away with time, but for others it's permanent. -

ARCHIVED Help! My Daughter Will Not Eat Fruit
Carriefaith replied to lbsteenwyk's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
try making fruit fun! There are fruit pizza's which are fun. (although I don't know a gluten-free recipe I can look if you are interested). A fruit pizza is just a pizza but instead of tomatoe sauce there is a sort of a cream cheese sauce and all different kind of fruits are placed on it like a pizza. Try making gluten-free peanut butter sandwich's... -

I understand how you feel... I was underweight when I was diagnosed and I had people telling me that I looked too thin, like it was gross or something, and one person was asking if I was eating, implying eating disorder... I was embarressed of my weight and was sensitive to what other people said about me. I've gained about 10 pounds since last year and...
