Tinkyada and Sterk's -
Even if they do have a separate frier, how can we be sure that they aren't using the same utensils to grab the fries and the nuggets, Filet o Fish, Mc Chicken. I've worked in the fast food industry and I know that when people are in a rush to get orders done on time they get pretty careless. My advice: Go during quiet hours Ask if the fries are in a...

Both Club House and McCormick say that the smaller size containers are safer to use since there is an increased risk of cross contamination with larger container sizes.

ARCHIVED Rosie's Gluten Free Gourmet Food Ltd.
Carriefaith posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was just at a Canadian Celiac Association meeting in my province (PEI) and they had some food samples from this place called Rosie's Gluten Free Gourmet Food Ltd. I was very impressed. The rolls and sub buns look and taste the same as wheat bread! It was amazing! I mean wow! They sell homemade pizzas (with toppings), cakes, cookies, rolls, ect. Anyway... -

ARCHIVED Any Celiac Athletes Out There?
Carriefaith replied to pisand13's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I play competitive soccer in an indoor (winter) league and an outdoor (spring/summer) league. The outdoor legue is quite intense (Two 90 minute games/week plus 1 or 2 practices/week). Last summer was my first gluten-free summer and I really struggled with my energy levels. I could only play for 10-15 minutes at a time and sometimes I had to sit the whole... -
ARCHIVED Coca Cola Products
Carriefaith replied to Thomas's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
celiac3270, Thanks so much for your help! Since I am still feeling sick I am seriously re-evaluating all my food and other products to make sure what I am eating is 1000000% gluten free. For example, I used to eat humpty dumpty corn chips and I just found out that although they are gluten-free, they don't wash their lines between batches. Hello Contamination... -

Carriefaith replied to jcgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That is sort of suspisious, I think. Why would he/she tell you to stop eating bread if nothing was wrong with the test. Did you ask for the number on your test result? lol I can so relate to that. It's embarressing! -
ARCHIVED Coca Cola Products

ARCHIVED Coca Cola Products
Carriefaith replied to Thomas's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just got this information from Coca-cola from August 2004: "Coca-cola are ABLE to confirm that their products meet Codex's definition of Gluten Free (under 200 ppm), but are UNABLE to confirm that they are completely Gluten Free at this time". What do you guys think of this? Are they just saying this to be safe? or is there actually traces of gluten... -
ARCHIVED Link With Ibs?
Carriefaith replied to julie5914's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
hmmmmm I wonder what planet he is from? He would need to do a blood test and a biopsy of the small intestine, which is done with endoscopy. The Tissue Tranglutamase blood test is quite reliable but a biopsy also needs to be done. -

ARCHIVED Sooo Frustrated!
Carriefaith replied to megzmc3611's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Refractory celiac disease is what your doctor is talking about and it is VERY rare. Don't get discouraged just yet. It seems like you do a very good job of keeping gluten out of your system. However, if their is still gluten in your system after a year check the follwing things. - Do you have a separate toaster, peanut butter, spices, butter, margerine... -
ARCHIVED Attacked By Hidden Gluten?
Carriefaith replied to cdews's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think we keep missing each others posts by a few seconds LOL McCormick will clearly list any gluten on their products. For corn tortillas, go with Old El Paso since they will always list gluten or traces of gluten in their ingredients. For canned tomatoes or tomato sauce - Hunt's-Wesson will also clearly label gluten I am unsure about... -
ARCHIVED Attacked By Hidden Gluten?
Carriefaith replied to cdews's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I hope you're kids don't have celiac disease. Good luck! As of June 2004, Cool Whip topping, topping light, ultra fat topping, aerosol, light aerosol, and dream whip are all gluten free. (I live in Canada so products may be different if you live in a different county). -

What have you been eating? We may be able to help if we knew... Also, if you have any questions regarding the gluten free status of a product don't hesitate to ask. If I don't know, I'm sure someone here will know. -
ARCHIVED Maltodextrin
Carriefaith replied to YankeeDB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes in Canada it is highly recommended that companies should identify the top allergins that are in maltodextrin on the label but it is not required... In other words, in Canada don't assume that maltodextrin is safe. -
ARCHIVED Another Pill Possibility
Carriefaith replied to celiac3270's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
When I really think about it, I really can't see a pill coming out that soon. Maybe 8-10 years I mean if the test animals (rats) don't get celiac disease then how can it work on humans? I think there is going to be a lot of trial and error. I'm sure the researchers are doing a good job but I am skeptical. -
ARCHIVED Maltodextrin
Carriefaith replied to YankeeDB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am from Canada and just recently recieved information about maltodextrin. Apparently in Canada companies are NOT required to put the source of their ingredients on the label. Maltodextrin can have gluten in it so if you are in Canada BEWARE. Call the company or find/talk to someone who has. I think this rule is different in the US.
