ARCHIVED Canned Beef Broth Or Stock
Carriefaith replied to traci's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Imagine products for chicken and Vegetable broth I think McCormick beef cubes are gluten-free. I believe Mc Cormick is one of the companies that clearly labels gluten on their ingredient lists, please correct me if I am wrong about this. I've used them in recipes before and had no problems and I am super sensitive. To make a broth I put 1 cube in... -
ARCHIVED Shouldn't Celiac3270 Be Back On Line By Now?
Carriefaith replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That tube thingy sounds painful I'm really glad that you are home and doing well though I wish you a great recovery and hopefully you will be symptom free forever Best wishes -
I take a vitamin D supplement and a multivitamin with vitamin D in it every day. I also drink boost sometimes as well. Vitamin D is not naturally in most foods (it is fortified in milk) and if you don't get much sun it is easy to become deficient. Maybe ask your pharmacist or doctor for a soy free and gluten free vitamin D supplement, or ask if boost...

ARCHIVED Boost Energy Drink
Carriefaith replied to rmmadden's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I find that chilling boost enhances the taste. -
I weigh less than I used to before getting sick with celiac disease. I also eat tons of food and never gain a pound. (Although I have always been that way). It's kind of weird I guess. Maybe Vote4PresBush04 idea is right in that we may have high metabolisms. I'd also check all your products for hidden gluten just in case

ARCHIVED Are These Tests Enough?
Carriefaith replied to Lesliean's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Make sure that you inform your doctor that you were gluten free for 3 weeks before the tests. In order to get accurate results, you need to be eating gluten when you get tested so that there are antibodies in your blood. For some people the antibodies can stay in their systems for awhile, but everyone is different... I'm no expert on this subject, maybe someone... -

ARCHIVED Malabsorption
Carriefaith replied to TLymanP's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I lost about 5-8 pounds very gradually (1 year) when I first started feeling sick and then I lost an additional 5-8 pounds very suddenly (1 week) when I was at my worst. -
Pancreatic Enzymes An Celiac
Carriefaith replied to TLymanP's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
wow, I didn't realize there were that many celiacs with pancreas problems. I guess it's more common than I thought. I think I may be having problems with my pancreas and I have been doing some research on it. I seem to have a lot of the symptoms of chronic pancreatitis. -
ARCHIVED Boost Energy Drink
Carriefaith replied to rmmadden's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I drink boost... I like Chocolate and Vanilla and they are gluten and lactose free. Chocolate malt though is not gluten free. Boost was suggested to me to drink by a doctor. I find that it gives me some energy and it reduces my hunger cravings. Boost sometimes makes me feel better when I am feeling sick -
One of the symptoms of celiac disease is missed periods because of malnutrition (Kind of like when girls miss periods when they are anorexic). If you have only been on the diet for 6 weeks then your intestines probably haven't healed resulting in malabsorption of essential vitamins and minerals in you intestin, which may cause you to miss a few periods. Ask...

ARCHIVED Unresponsive To The Gf Diet
Carriefaith replied to mroper's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am in a similar situation as you but I have been gluten free for almost a year. Like the others said check everything to make sure it is gluten free. Other suggestions to discuss with your doctors: - Maybe get a colonoscopy to make sure nothing else is going on - Suggest getting tested for parasites and or bacterial infections in the intestines ... -
ARCHIVED Dealing With Fatigue And Lack Of Stamina
Carriefaith replied to jymles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also have problems with fatigue, energy levels, and lack of stamina. Most of my vitamin levels have been checked (to my knowlegde) and the only one that wasn't excellent was calcium. So I don't know why I am still having problems. I try everything to get energy. I drink boost (which helps sometimes), I take lots of vitamins and minerals, I drink tons... -

ARCHIVED Was In The Er Yet Again This Morning...
Carriefaith replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I find that the doctors in the ER are too busy and they just seem to want to get you out of there as fast as they can. They just want to give you a prescription and send you on your merry way. They don't seem to have the time to do a few simple tests to rule something out. As an example, I went into the ER about 5/6 years ago with a horrible back injury... -

ARCHIVED Licking Envelopes
Carriefaith replied to jknnej's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Once when I was doing my banking, I licked an envelope by mistake... As soon as I licked it, I realized what I did and I went outside and spit a few times to "try" and get rid of it. I never got sick from it as far as I can remember.
