  1. Unless you react by touching wheat, I think you should be fine as long as you wash your hands well after.
  2. I agree, I think this is what my doctor was trying to tell me. Eating gluten causes the intestines to be super sensitive to food, which is an irritated bowel.
  3. I think that you should take your doctors advice and see the specialist. The tTg test is highly specific and sensitive to celiac disease, and your score (14) would indicate that you probably have celiac disease.   4. Have you been checked for anything else other than celiac disease? If there may be blood in your stool, I would ask to get checked for chron's disease or ulcerative colitis. Also, have you tried eliminating all forms of dairy from your diet, including hidden dairy (chocolate, candy, baked goods, butter)? Dairy can cause a lot of problems if you are intolerant...

  6. If you have celiac disease, than you would want them to be positive, so that your intestines can heal and so that you can start feeling better on the gluten free diet.   7. Gluten is toxic to people with celiac disease, so it can do a lot of nasty things to the body. I'm assuming you already know about the damage gluten can do to the intestine, but I've recently learned that gluten can damage the brain as well. I don't recommend cheating.
  8. I have both celiac and IBS; however, my doctor told me that my IBS was induced by having celiac disease. Basically, I have an irritable bowel when I have gluten or dairy.

I mean on this board there are people with celiac disease, gluten ataxia, gluten sensitivity, wheat allergies, gluten intolerances, many different auto-immune disease, IBS (which probably is a gluten problem) ect.   11. There are places that are safer than others. For example, places that offer gluten free menus. But eating out at places that also serve gluten should never become a habit since there is a higher risk of contamination. I usually limit myself to one or twice a month.
  12. I got a product list from the Canadian Celiac Association in my chapter and it said that humpty dumpty gluten-free chips are produced on the same line as the chips that contain gluten. However, the list also said that they they were working on improving this, so you may want to call and confirm. I just don't eat chips anymore, I gave up.

  16. That description makes sense, especially if the person has the gene for celiac.
  17. Any amount of gluten can cause intestinal damage in celiacs, a crumb, a slice a bread, medication with gluten in it, ect. In order to feel better and heal the intestines you must be 100% gluten free. If you are gluten free for other reasons, then you would also have to be 100% gluten free to notice improvment and get better.
  18. To prevent your ataxia from getting worse you must be 100% gluten free. The gluten free diet is intimidating at first, but it gets easier with time. If you need meal ideas, please ask!
  19. I went through a similar situation. I was very sick when I first started the gluten-free diet and didn't start to notice improvements until about 5-6 months into the diet.   20. I would guess that it would be related.
  21. The spots look like the chicken pox or mosquito bites and sometimes a rash develops around them. They are sometimes very itchy or not itchy at all. Some last for a few hours and other may stick around for a week (It depends on how itchy they are). I get them on my neck, legs, arms and the collarbone area.
  22. I eat their chicken and rice soup. I haven't had problems with it. Actually, I think I have been having problems with this soup lately, I've e-mailed the company to see if there is any chance of contamination and I'll post their response.
  23. I would go 100% gluten free. Any amount of gluten would probably cause damage and prevent you from getting better.
