  1. If you are reacting to something and you are 100% sure it is not gluten, then you could have an allergy or intolerance to something else. The fact that you feel better at other places makes me wonder if you are reacting to dust, dust mites, fungus, cat hair, or even the type of pollen in your area. I suggest that you get an extensive allergy test done. This...
  2. I think you both are right When I am contaminated with gluten, I get mild to severe upper abdominal pain, where the first part of the small intestine would be (this is where the damage would be occurring from the gluten). However, I also get some pain in the large intestine (mid-lower region) which is probably gas or things moving through.
  3. I was starting to get some hair loss before I was diagnosed. The gluten-free diet cleared that up though
  4. Gluten seems to really affect the brain. When I am glutened, I get brain fog, irritability, anxiety, mild insomnia, and nervousness. Those goldfish crackers may have been the source of the problem. The best thing to do is to make sure that she doesn't get anymore gluten. The longer she is off the gluten, the better she should get.
  5. Thanks This recipe is very tasty and you can modify it and it still tastes good. I don't put it in the turkey, but I am sure it would taste fine if it was. I just make it in a big casserole dish. I make enough so that I can have leftovers and eat turkey dinners for a few days
  6. I also got sick from a Bob's Red Mill product. I think there stuff can be contaminated. It says on their website that they find very small amounts of gluten in their products.
  7. I don't think that I have found anything that didn't have dairy or had a risk of dairy contamination. Sorry. I'm also interested if anyone has found something. Why does chocolate need milk in it anyway?
  8. Enterolab cannot diagnose celiac disease, but they can definately tell you if you are having problems with gluten. From your results it seems that you are intolerant to gluten and casein (the milk protein). It's hard to say if you have celiac disease or not, it seems like you have the celiac gene and you are having above normal scores on some of the tests...
  9. The tTg test is highly sensitive and specific for celiac disease. My grandmother had a really low tTg score, I think it was one above normal, and she had intestinal damage. Her GI doctor thought that he should do the biopsy, and sure enough there was damage. If you decide to get the biopsy done, don't start the gluten-free diet until after the test and make...
  10. I think that it would be a good idea to get tested for celiac. Make sure that you ask for the celiac blood panel. Also, don't start the gluten-free diet until after testing is done, or else you could get false negative results.
  11. There is no cure for celiac disease. If celiacs are eating gluten and not getting sick then they may have no symptoms; however, they are still damaging their intestines.
  12. This is the recipe that I make, it is a modification of this one: Open Original Shared Link This is sooo good, people don't even know the difference. * 4 shallots, minced * 2 onions, diced * 5 celery ribs, diced * 5 carrots, diced * 2-3 TB butter (I use soybean butter) * 2 tbl dry sage * 2 tbl dry thyme * 2 tbl...
  13. That's annoying I think that you are doing the right thing by trying to get healthy and solve the problem. Like you said, I would just not mention it or change the subject when they start talking about it. And gossiping behind your back, ... they should care about your health not make fun of it. Anyway... even if you don't have celiac disease I would try...
  14. Not necessarily, the villi are very tiny and the procedure is so quick that they don't really have much time to look. My GI doctor said that he could see that there were problems with my intestine after the scope, but he couldn't confirm anything until after the biopsy results.
  15. I started noticing my weight coming back around 3-6 months into the diet, it was a slow process.
  16. I cook with VH soy sauce.
  17. I have celiac disease and I'll give you a list of all the symptoms that I have had: extreme to mild diarrhea floating foul stools mild to severe upper abdominal pain general stomach pain flu-like symptoms weight loss bloating nausea gas dizziness joint pain hair loss mosquito-like spots on the skin, sometimes they develop into a rash mild...
  18. you are very lucky
  19. That would be so annoying! I always try and carry extra food with me, so that I don't get too hungry. There have been many times where I am stuck with no food and super hungry.
  20. Before I started the gluten-free diet and even months into the diet, most food seemed to make me sick. I think this was becasue my intestines were damaged and most foods I ate irritated my intestines. Once my intestines healed, I got sick less often. Now I only get sick when I have gluten, dairy, or too much sugar. The gluten-free diet is overwhelming...
  21. Before I was diagnosed and a few months into the gluten-free diet, I had joint pain, which is a symptom of celiac disease. I had pain in my hip, knees, and ankles. The pain was the worst in my hip and knees and I would sometimes have trouble walking without limping. This improved within 3-4 months on the gluten free diet.
  22. I believe infertility and miscarriage are complications of celiac disease "Miscarriage and congenital malformation of the baby, such as neural tube defects, are risks for untreated pregnant women with celiac disease because of malabsorption of nutrients." Open Original Shared Link Basically what this means is, if your intestines are severly damaged from...
  23. Everyone is different, some feel better in a few weeks and others may takes several months to a few years. Personally, I didn't start to feel about 100% better until over a year on the diet.
  24. Yes! use your time wisely When I was waiting for my biopsy, I had a mental list of all the gluten foods that I wanted to eat before I went gluten free. Like pizza, fast food, eating out at restaurants and ording whatever I wanted, ect. I was like you, I had a positive blood test and I knew after the biopsy there was no going back, so I ate lots of gluten...
