  1. Here is a link to a Canadian gluten-free product list: Open Original Shared Link
  2. Like the others have said rye bread is a big no on the gluten free diet. You really need to re-evaluate your diet now. Make sure that you read all ingredient labels for gluten and hidden gluten. Here are some sites to help you get started. Open Original Shared Link (Canadian product list) https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid...-22105022487.2e https...
  3. I had bone/joint pain before my diagnosis and a few months after I started the gluten-free diet. The pain eventually went away though. I would recommend talking to your doctor about taking Calcium and vitamin D supplements to help you get better. For energy levels, I struggled with my energy levels for about 1 year after I started the gluten-free diet...
  4. Panic attackes are definatley a symptom. Gluten can make me very panicy for no reason at all. I think it would be a good idea to get him checked out for celiac disease. My first red flag for my problems was the skin prick allergy test. The allergy test indicated that I had a wheat allergy, I was eventually tested for celiac disease since the wheat free diet...
  5. This is a tough decision, no wonder you were up all night! It's hard because they will grow up and wonder why they can't eat what everyone else is eating and will wonder why they weren't tested. Personally, if I had a baby, I would keep him/her on the same diet as me, which is gluten and dairy free. I think the benefits of these diets outway being able to...
  6. You have to fast for about 12 hours and you can request to be put to sleep if you want to. You can get the endoscopy done with no sedation at all, mild sedation, or full sedation. The doctor should take at least 4-5 biopsies since the damage can be patchy.
  7. I take a multivitamin plus I drink blueberry smoothies made with soy milk.
  8. Wow that's great news
  9. Good point Vincent, I've heard that as well.

I think they give butter in packets, but if you are dairy intolerant and use soy butter, than I would bring some of that. Don't be nervous, just make it loud and clear that you have celiac disease and stress that no bread/gluten come near or touch your food. Ask for your food to be prepared in new clean bowels and ask for meat to be cooked on tinfoil or on...
  11. I would guess that your son could have celiac disease based on his symptoms. However, the gluten-free free idea allows the body to heal. Once on the gluten-free diet, any testing for celiac disease may come back false negative becasue the body stops producing antibodies and stops damaging the intestine. If he is still having problems on the gluten free...

I got really sick after eating at an Outback Steakhouse once and I orderd off the gluten free menu. It was most likey dairy that caused the reaction, but I don't know for sure.
  13. I drink it about once a week with no problems.
  14. If your reactions to eggs and gelatin are quite severe, then you could do a few things to avoid getting the flu. Here are some ideas, wash your hands well everytime you eat something, avoid touching your face, hold your breath if someone starts having a cough attack in a closed in area, use paper towel to turn off tap handles in public washrooms, don't touch...
  15. Does anyone know if Vasoline lotion is gluten-free?
  16. Do you remember or know how you were diagnosed? If you had celiac disease then you still have it. There is no cure for celiac disease. The disease can go into remission and make you think that you're "cured" but there is still damage occuring in the intestine. The fact that you have DH and a zinc deficiency point towards celiac disease. Do you have those...
  17. Everyone responses to gluten differently, it doesn't matter how old they are. If you need meal ideas or recipes just ask
  18. Sharon, based on those results, a positive biopsy and 2 positive blood tests, I would say that you have celiac disease and I am confused as to why the doctor is trying to prove it There are other things that can cause flatening of the villi; however, if you have positive celiac bloodwork, then my guess is that you have celiac. Did you feel better on the...
  19. Wow that sounds great! I'm sure they will all love it Most of them probably won't even know the difference.
  20. I hope you find the source of your problem Good luck with the tests.
  21. Bacardi Rum is gluten free, at least that is what it says on my celiac smartlist. However, you should read the ingredients or call the company for sausages because they could contain wheat as a filler. I'm not sure what bratwurst is.
  22. I'll try and tell a short version of my story. Late spring 2003, when I was 22, I started noticing GI problems. Late that summer, I went to my doctor thinking it was lactose intolerance and he sent me to get allergy skin prick testing done. In October 2003, I had the allergy skin prick test done and found out that I was allergic to wheat along with a...
  23. I get the flu shot. I think it's important because if I ever happened to have a gluten contamination and get the flu at the same, it would be quite bad.
  24. Thanks for that link Jen! I eat the Cadbury Trebor Allen gummi candies with no problem, but I am from Canada so double check the ingredients if you are from another country. These candies include, gummi bears, cherry blasters, sour patch kids, fuzzy peaches, and sweedish berries.
  25. I got an allergy skin prick test on my back. This tested for a wide variey of things, everything from, animal hair, food, fungus, dust, and pollen.
