  1. I think that everyone deserves a big thank you Many people put in a lot of voluntary time into this site and helping others. I'm sure we have all learned valuable and important information from others on this site, myself included. I don't know what I'd do without this site sometimes. So thanks to everyone
  2. I have a few ideas, Fresh Veggies cooked in a wok in olive oil, you could add chicken too Baked Salmon Veggy salad with safe salad dressing Fruit salad with honey Chicken soup Spaghetti Squash Pizza made with bean flour The book called Breaking the Vicious Cycle has a ton of recipes that she could eat. I don't have it here with me now, but I...
  3. Some gum can be dusted with a powder to prevent it from sticking. I'm assuming that the powder is usually cornstach, but some companies may use wheat starch or wheat flour.
  4. I feel the same way and I feel like I am one of the most sensitive people to gluten in the world. I am currently going through yet another gluten reaction from what I believe is Club House vanilla extract. Now this product is gluten free, but they also say to avoid larger sized containers since there is a higher risk of cross-contamination. The container...
  5. Sometimes when I am glutened, I will get heart palpitations, which means that I am very aware of my heart beating. They can get very scary and I've been to outpatients once with them. And the heart palitations I get do sort of feel like my heart is doing flip flops.
  6. Thank you for the link. I'll have to remember this... for a buttermilk replacement, add lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to whole soy milk.
  7. I agree. I am ultra sensitive to gluten. I had my worst gluten reaction ever from a Bob's Red Mill product, which was labeled gluten free The reaction was so bad and the severity of the reaction was really scary. I don't think that it is fair that these companies are advertising products to be gluten free when they aren't.
  8. I'm sorry that you are going through this. Like you, I also get a skin reaction when I get gluten in my system. I know all too what it is like to get gluten sick and have no idea what I did wrong. It probably doesn't help living in a house where everyone else eats gluten I've never had that bar before and the ingredients on the bar look ok, but if it was...
  9. Thanks for letting us know! I love knowing if things are gluten-free or not straight from the source
  10. I understand what you are going through. I personally don't understand why these products are listed if there is a chance of cross contamination. That's really annoying! I am super sensitive to the smallest amount of gluten, so I probably wouldn't be able to tolerate those cereals either. I actually don't eat cereal for breakfast and just stick with a variation...
  11. yea! I'm so glad that more people are learning about celiac disease. Our local grocery store (Superstore) is actually offering gluten free cooking classes once a month. I haven't gone yet becasue I have to work on the nights they offer them, but I am so impressed!
  12. Open Original Shared Link
  13. Really? Wow... I should point that out to them. Thanks for telling us. I guess that's proof to always double check your sources.
  14. I've used Kinnikinnick Italian white tapicoa bread (thawed) and Sterk's Sandwich bread and both have tasted wonderful in my dressing recipe. Everyone says that they cannot tell that it is gluten free bread, which is what we want to hear! Here is my stuffing recipe: Stuffing * 4 shallots, minced * 2 onions, diced * 5 celery ribs, diced * 5 carrots, diced...
  15. They can do a biopsy of the small intestine during a colonscopy; however, this is not as accurate as a biopsy during an endoscopy. The villi damage done in an individual with celiac disease is mostly in the upper part of the small intestine, where the biopsy is done during an endoscopy. The biopsy done during the colonoscopy only samples the very end of the...
  16. Let us know when you decide on your topic
  17. Sometimes they can miss the damage in the intestine since the damage can be sporatic. Did your son have blood tests or a gene test?
  18. From reading your symptoms, I would guess that you may have celiac. Villi damage is hard to see unless you look at it under a microscope. They will have to look at your biopsies underneath the microscope to see if there was any damage done. My advice would be to try not to stress about the whole thing until you hear your results. Stress can make...
  19. Sure! Chili 2 cans Heinz beans in tomato sauce 2 cans Heinz Chili style Kidney beans, rinse beans before putting them in. 1 can Hunts-Wesson tomato sauce 1 large can tomatoes 1 small box Imagine Tomato soup (if you can’t find this, just add extra tomato sauce) Extra lean hamburger Veggies (e.g green/red pepper, green/yellow onion, corn, ...
  20. I don't believe that they have found all the genes that cause celiac disease so it is possible that she could still have it. If she doesn't have celiac disease, she could be intolerant or sensitive to gluten. The tissue transglutamase blood test (tTg) or the intestinal biopsy would tell you if she had celiac disease. However, she must be consuming gluten...
  21. If you have celiac disease and continue to eat gluten, the damage done to the intestine would be gradual and would eventually lead to complications later on in life. The complications that I've read about include, intestinal cancer, osteoporosis, seizures, brain complaications, infertility, various vitamin deficieny disorders, and refractory celiac disease...
  22. Yeah, you can't eat the turkey or you will get sick. Maybe ask them to make the stuffing separate so you can have some? If not, then maybe take your own food and eat it with them. That is what I usually do at big events.
  23. you can use any info I have
  24. I've only noticed it from ingesting gluten. I've touched gluten since going on the gluten free diet and it didn't seem to do anything.
  25. Mine come within 12-24 hours after I get glutened.
