ARCHIVED Naturally Thin - Did You Gain Weight?
Carriefaith replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have also been naturally thin as well and could also eat whatever I wanted without gaining. I'm almost 5'7 and I was about 130 pounds in high school. However, I slowly started losing weight and eventually in university, I got very concerned when I was 112 pounds, which is underweight. Eventually, I got a diagnosis of celiac disease due to a ton of celiac... -
ARCHIVED Butter Or Margerine
Carriefaith replied to Carriefaith's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found Earth Balance and it is great! Last one left actually... must be popular! Thanks again -
That really bothered me too. I've read most of the book since it was recommended by a family member. She leads people to believe that the gluten-free diet cures celiac disease. Last I checked there is no cure for celiac disease and if she knows the cure then why isn't it more publized? Personally, I think she is using the word "cure" in the wrong way. I think...

ARCHIVED Neg Biopsies
Carriefaith replied to jolenevw's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
How many biopsies did they take? If they only took 1 or 2 then it is possible they have missed the damage; however, if they took 5+ from different sections of the upper small intestine then they most likely would have found damage if present. If you have had negative blood tests and biopsies then you could still be gluten or wheat intolerant. A celiac gene... -
ARCHIVED In Shock!
Carriefaith replied to boysmom8's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow, I think you should get tested for sure, it's sounds like youcould have celiac disease symptoms and DH (Dermatitis Herpetiformis, ie. celiac associated skin condition). If you decide to get tested, make sure you ask for the celiac panel that has the tissue transglutamase test. Also, if you are eating gluten-free, the tests could be false negative. -

ARCHIVED Butter Or Margerine
Carriefaith posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know of a gluten free and dairy free butter or margarine? I just noticed that the margarine I'm using has whey in it and I've stopped using it. -
I don't have all those smilies as an option, like the bashful one with hearts above its head and the sleepy one. Do you have to do something special to get those?

ARCHIVED Ingredient In Diet Sodas, Aspartame, Causes Cancer
Carriefaith replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Oh that is quite understandable, I dislike it when teachers make classes boring. Lucky you! I think you are going to love that job! After being diagnosed, I sometimes wish that I had of went that route in my undergrad. Nutrition and diet are just so interesting! I'm actually considering applying to do a PhD in a nutrition related field after I finish... -
eating gluten every few months, depending on how much you have could be the reason why you are losing weight. You may not be allowing for your intestines to heal, resulting in sudden weight loss.

ARCHIVED Week Later..symptons?
Carriefaith replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think the norm for reactions is 2 weeks. I know it is for me anyway, and Kaiti too If they last longer than 2 weeks, I would go to the doctor and see if something else is wrong. Hope you are better soon -
ARCHIVED I've So Had It With Doctors!
Carriefaith replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That's too bad He can't refuse. I would be nice about it but say that you want the test done and that your son is showing some symptoms. The fact that celiac runs in the family should be enough for him to order tests.... Doctors are only human and although some of them may think they are all knowing, they don't know everything. I mean you can't possibly... -
ARCHIVED How Long Until You Stopped Breaking Out?
Carriefaith replied to frenchiemama's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I broke out in dh after what I believe was a gluten contamination. I mean I didn't delibrately eat gluten, but I got all the symptoms and started breaking out in dh so it had to be gluten. It got really bad one day and then was almost gone the next day. The bigger spots stayed longer, maybe for a few more days. So yes, I think a gluten accident can trigger... -
ARCHIVED Marriage Trouble And Celiac
Carriefaith replied to Merika's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm sorry that you are not feeling better. I took about 1 year to feel better, and I am still not 100% so I understand. I can't really offer much marriage advice, since I've never been married, but I'll try and help with other things. *Are you sure that you are 100% gluten-free. I thought I was and I wasn't. I re-evaluated my diet and found that I was... -
Welcome! I eat Heinz ketchup all the time with no problems and I believe that Heinz mustard was gluten-free the last time I checked. Tinkyada pasta is the best and it is gluten-free. I don't even notice a difference from regular wheat pasta.

ARCHIVED Ingredient In Diet Sodas, Aspartame, Causes Cancer
Carriefaith replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I agree Personally, I think that the typical north american diet is causing a lot of the devastating diseases that we see today like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, ect. People don't eat things in moderation and don't eat right, which results in health problems. I mean humans aren't suppossed to live on hamburgers, pizza, and battered food covered in... -

Carriefaith replied to frenchiemama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
