  1. Are talking about a follow up biopsy? If so, this would be useful if you aren't feeling better since you will be able to see if there is still damage occuring in the small intestine. If there is damage, your doctor will probably get you to re-evaluate your diet. It is VERY easy to get cross contamination, especially if not everyone in your house is...
  2. I was like that before I went on the gluten-free diet but once I went on the gluten-free diet, it got worse (I think I have a super high metabolism). I find it really hard to feel "full" and it doesn't seem to matter what I eat. Before I went gluten-free, the only thing that really made me feel full was bread or "big" dinners (Wheat bread can give you a fasle...
  3. I use McCormick or the actual plant for spices. Those are the safest spices since McCormick will clearly indicate gluten, and well obviously the spice plants are gluten-free I sometimes use Club House but they have a specific gluten-free list (I can post it if you are interested). McCormick and Club House both recommend to use their smaller containers since...
  4. A low gluten diet could still damage the villi in the small intestine and lead to the malabsorption of nutrients. Your daughter may or may not have symtpoms on the low gluten diet but intestinal damage may still be occuring. Celiacs need to be 100% gluten free or they have a higher chance of developing anemia, osteoporosis, infertility, cancer, ect. I would...
  5. I use Uncle Bens regular white rice, I add extra broth to make sure that the rice has enough liquid to cook in. Sorry, I've never cooked with quinoa, I'm not really familar with it. Maybe someone else knows more.
  6. That's ok I do that all the time, you can edit your posts by clicking edit on the top right hand corner of your posts. I edit mine all the time.
  7. I found an article on the topic Open Original Shared Link
  8. I don't think that is true. I think it was mixed up in that people with Down Syndrome have a higher chance of having celiac disease.
  9. I personally don't think that celiacs have a higher chance of having autistic children. Celiac disease is an auto-immune disorder and there is a specific gene for celiac disease that can be passed on to children. I believe that other auto-immune diseases such as lupus, and fibromalygia are closely linked to the celiac gene. Therefore, an individual with celiac...
  10. I also prefer veggies and rice over meat. I am not a vegetarian though since I eat fish, some chicken/turkey, some beef, and I refuse to eat pork/ham. But I do eat way more veggies, rice, gluten-free grains, and fruits than meat. Here is a recipe that should have lots of protein because it has cashews and kidney beans: Rice and Vegetable Casserole...
  11. Oh no problem at all I just assumed that you never checked again since it wasn't your topic No rush
  12. I can relate. Gluten makes me feel like a zombie. I get brain fog or something and I get so "out of it" that I don't even trust myself to drive sometimes The last time I believe I was glutened, I had to get people to chauffeur me around until I felt somewhat normal again. I've been partially sedated for the scopes I have had, and it kind of feels like that...
  13. It is hard some days to keep up with the posts, especially if you are out most of the day I think it is great though! I love getting all the posts. Obviously I don't read all of them, but I reply to the ones that I think I can give helpful advice, humor, or share a simliar "story"
  14. The book Wheat Free Worry Free by Danna Korn talks a bit about celiac and Autism. I believe studies have found that Autistc individuals do better on a gluten free and casein free diet. They could pass on the celiac gene which may or may not be active or "on" at birth. I believe that people are usually born with the gene "off" and an environmental stressor...
  15. That's great news! I'm not taking vitamin B12 myself unless it is in Boost or a multivitamin but I am thinking about taking B vitamins to improve my energy levels. Glad to hear that the Twinlab (500 mcg) have helped yours Is Twinlab only vitamin B12 or are there other things in it?

  17. I also use the safe Kraft BBQ sauces with no problems and I am super sensitive. BTW are there any unsafe BBQ sauces by Kraft?
  18. Wow congratulations! You must have made a good impression! What did you end up doing?
  19. Cleveland Bob - Glad to hear that you are slowly getting better My energy levels have improved a lot since last year, but they still aren't 100%. I think I will need more time. Tiffany - Yea, I was wondering if it was the diet cauing a lack of energy. Kaiti - Good to hear that your endurance got better. There is hope for us Wendy - I take...
  20. Same here. If I get sick or if I hear that others get sick from eating something, I will not eat it.
  21. Thanks guys for your help I just needed to know if this was normal or if other people were experiencing similar problems. I guess we need longer to feel 100% better. I'm so impatient though, I just get frustrated with myself when I get tired so easily.
  22. Before I got really sick with celiac, I was a very active person with tons of energy. Back in the day I used to be in track and field, hockey, ringette, rugby, soccer, and I used to play a lot of other sports just for fun. Now after being diagnosed, I just play soccer and I'm not the same as I used to be... Last year was a lot tougher for me since I had...
  23. I voted for soccer. I play soccer so I am kind of biased To watch on TV... I love to watch hockey! I am a Toronto Maple Leafs fan! celiac3270, I was also disappoited with the NHL lockout! I don't really watch many other sports on tv. I'll watch the Superbowl once a year and golf or curling once in a while but that's pretty much it!
  24. Karen! You are not alone in this! I had to collect mine for 24 hours and put it in an ice cream container 2 times! Once before I was diagnosed and once afterwards. I call it the 24 hour Poop-A-Thon There are so many words to describe it, annoying, gross, degrading yea..... Carrying it into the hospital and giving it to the lab is interesting. When I do...
