  1. Really? would you mind posting them, I am very interested in this since celiac runs in my moms side of the family and her niece (my cousin) has dyslexia. Has the diet helped your sons dyslexia? Anyway... back on topic. I think you could have a sensitivity to wheat/gluten, an allergy wheat/gluten, or possibly celiac based on your symtoms and reactions...
  2. the gluten free Enviro-Kidz and the fruity and coco pebbles would probably be the most applealing to children.
  3. I have done the same thing! and I didn't get sick
  4. If I were feeling ill like you described my decsion would be based on if I had a room to myself or not. If you and your husband have a room to yourselves, than you could sneek away for a nap in the afternoons. My tip if you go... Bring Ear Plugs! Very nice to have in times like this! Oops I just noticed that your post says that it is a one room cabin...
  5. When I cook food on the grill, I make a cake-like pan out of 2-3 layers of tin foil. This works for me and I don't remember getting sick from doing this.
  6. I use VH soy sauce and I can get it in my local grocery store. Hope this helps
  7. I am on the complete opposite side of the country! but I can try and help! I buy most of my stuff at Sobeys. Zares (sp?) also carries gluten-free stuff, but there isn't one here. If you google "vancouver gluten free" a bunch of interesting things will come up.
  8. Thanks for the replies! I like Thai Kitchen because they are so quick and convenient. Very easy to pop in the microwave when you don't feel like making a lunch or dinner. Tonight I added bean sprouts, green onions, and a little extra oil to the Pad Thai and it was very yummy! I've noticed that Thai Kitchen has been in the site sponser box on the left
  9. I voted in the 1-3 month category. With me, I knew in November 2003 that there was something seriously wrong with me... I got in to see the GI doc at the end of December 2003 and he tested me (blood tests) for wheat allergy and celiac and something else. Within a few weeks, I was told that I would have to go in for a biopsy because my blood test was positive...
  10. Good luck with everything! I'm interested... will they not let you compete if you are above 110 pounds? and is the weight goal based on your height? That's crazy! You really must have good self disapline! I couldn't motivate myself to do that everyday! I excerice 3-4 times/week but not everyday. WOW!
  11. I hope you feel better soon and get the right diagnosis... and yes the gluten-free diet is worth a try. You may be sensitive to gluten or wheat.
  12. I use Kraft Pizza sauces since they will clearly indicate gluten on the ingredient list.
  13. I've heard of someone who got put in the hospital because the gluten they ingested at each communion made them very sick. I am not Catholoc, but I think that they believe that the bread must be unleavened, meaning that it has to contain wheat. That is why there is so many issues with celiacs that are catholic.
  14. Thai Kitchen has "Gluten-Free" on the label of some of their gluten free products. I just noticed today. I love the Pad Thai Noodle Cart. I think all of the noodle carts are gluten-free Open Original Shared Link Also, most of the rice noodle meals kits are gluten free Open Original Shared Link just click on "click to view nutritional facts...
  15. Good work celiac3270! and great topic. I personally don't think that God would want us to damage ourselves by eating gluten bread at communion. I believe that it does say somewhere in the bible not to hurt your body. The whole purpose of communion is to take the bread and wine/grapejuice as a symbol of the body and blood to remember that Jesus died for...
  16. It took me about a month or two to finally make a post and then I even came on as an anonymous member once in a while. Oh I was silly. I don't know what I was scared of You guys are great!
  17. I'm sure we all have felt those feelings at one point in time. I have self pity parties once in awhile especially when I see pizza I just focus on the things I can have and I try new recipes to keep the diet interesting. There are still a lot of good things we can eat. And I've found that there is almost a gluten-free alternative to everything, we...
  18. Yes, GERD is known as a classic symptom of celiac in adults (This is also in the same book I mentioned in the other thread). It's a good book
  19. I read it in Wheat Free Worry Free by Danna Korn on page 34. "internal hemorrhaging" is on a list of atypical symtoms and associated conditions of celiac disease.
  20. If you aren't allergic to soy, I think it is ok in moderation. I've read that it is not recommended for women who have estrogen based breast cancer or have a family history of the disease. However, research is showing that soy may help men with prostate cancer or help prevent it: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I eat soy, but I don...
  21. Yes, the silk chocolate milk is good and same with the So Good chocolate milk.
  22. Let us know how everything goes
  23. Thanks for much, I know that everyone has varying opinions on milk, but I don't think it is necessary for our bodies. Actually it makes a lot of people sick. I think we can get our calcium and vitamin D from supplements or other sourses like veggies and fish.
  24. I am very interested in this and would love some info! Thanks
  25. I once had a nasty reaction to lays regular Stax and I thought it was gluten but I'm beginning to think it was a dairy contamination rather than a gluten one. My reactions to dairy are quite bad sometimes. All the stax are gluten free and are produced on dedicated lines (at least the ones in the US are anyway), however, they are not all DAIRY free... so....
