  2. hmmmm, interesting... That's what the list says that I have, meaning someone has called the company and L'Oreal apparently said all of their stuff was gluten free. Maybe it's just in Canada, since there are some differences between the US and Canada. I'll have to look into it though. However, the ingredients list seems to be safe.
  3. I am actually kind of disappointed in Sobey's now, they stopped getting most of the gluten-free amy's dinners, they stopped selling the Old El Paso corn chips (the only mainstream chips I could eat without getting sick), they appeared to have stopped selling all my favorite gluten-free waffles, and I haven't seen any new Kinnickinick bread now for almost...
  4. I finally went out and bought some L'Oreal make-up. My local celiac association has a product list that says that all L'Oreal products are gluten-free. I had been using cover girl, but I'm not sure if they are safe. I couldn't find Bare Escentuals or some of the other products you guys were talking about, maybe some of them are just sold in the US. Thanks...
  5. Thanks for your help Kaiti... What brand do you use now?
  6. Sterk's pizza crusts are good. I put my favorite toppings on and bake it at about 300 for about 10-12 minutes. Open Original Shared Link
  7. I was wondering the same thing is cover girl stuff safe? I know the lipsticks may not be but what about other stuff? like foundation, mascara, powder, and concealer?
  8. I found this: The inactive ingredients are lactose monohydrate NF, corn starch NF, modified starch NF, povidone 25000 USP, magnesium stearate NF, hydroxylpropylmethyl cellulose USP, macrogol 6000 NF, talc USP, titanium dioxide USP, ferric oxide pigment, yellow NF. The inert film coated tablets contain lactose monohydrate NF, corn starch NF, povidone 25...
  9. It wouldn't have been the mayonnaise then, Kraft will clearly indicate gluten on the ingredient list.
  10. Does anyone have any pita recipes? I love hummus and would like a pita-like bread to eat it with. Thanks!
  11. I'm sorry you're not feeling well It's easy to forget how sick gluten can make us when we are healthy. I got a little sloppy myself around the house not too long ago by not labeling my stuff gluten-free and by being less careful about cleaning. I got sick around that time and it was probably because of my sloppiness.
  12. Yeah, definately stay away from it if it has barley
  13. I eat the berry Envirokids bars, the ones with the baby cheetah on them! They are really good! Open Original Shared Link However, I can get them for $3.99 here in the grocery store. They also have these ones: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  14. I also had trouble gaining my weight back since I was underweight when I was diagnosed. I am now just about 2-4 pounds above being underweight, however, I seem to be stable so I am happy Around my diagnosis and for quite a while after, I drank a ton of boost (all flavors are gluten free, except Chocolate Malt) and I still drink them once and a while....
  15. I do the same thing with french fries, soy ice cream, cashews, and chips (when I find some that don't make me sick!). When I crave something like pizza, I just eat something like that.
  16. Plain aloe vera would be fine and it works well on sunburns
  17. Glutamine is fine... it is an amino acid HA! I had to memorize all those amino acid chemical structures in one of my classes. How fun! Of course I don't remember them now... Funny how that works
  18. Some restaurants may not want to give away their "secret" ingredients. I'd just say, 'well I'm sorry, I guess I can't eat here then!" They are the ones losing out on the $$$$ There is a place that I want to go back to (it used to be my favorite restaurant before celiac), and I've heard that they are like that, so I'm not too excited to go and ask

I guess I am just a very up front person. When I tell people I have celiac disease, most people have no clue what it is, so I always follow it up with a line like that. It doesn't scare people away, I say stuff like that to people all the time. If it scared someone away I would be very offended! When I say "I have an allergy or an intolerance", most...
  20. From those results I would say that you indeed have celiac disease. That is 3 postive results out of 4. This could mean a few things: -maybe there is enough gluten slipping into your diet to cause villi damage but not enough to raise the antibodies in the blood. Maybe your food is contaminated? I would verify all your products with the companies...
  21. Jamieson Mega Cal Calcium Magnesium and Jamieson Vitamin D are gluten free. It says gluten free right on the label.

The only thing it may impact is limiting the places you can eat out. I would take the time to find some celiac friendly restaurants in your area if you are interested in eating out with your dates. I think the best thing to do is to tell your date right away about celiac with a line like, "I am limited to the places I can eat out because I have celiac...
  23. Here is the recipe I have for home made gluten free beer. I've never made it, it's just a recipe I found in one of my cookbooks. Good luck to those who try! Gluten Free Beer 3 - 21 oz cans/jars of gluten-free rice syrup 2 oz hops (use whatever kind you like with AA percent of 4-7 6 cups corn syrup (approx. 2lbs) 1 pkg dry gluten-free ale yeast ...
  24. I've never tried that beer (I don't like the taste of beer) but one of my cookbooks has a recipe for gluten free beer if anyone is interested. I don't have it with me right now, but I can post it later if there is interest.
  25. Since villi damage can be patchy they should take more than 1 biopsy. I am pretty sure that they took several biopsies from my upper small intestine to diagnose me. If I were you, I would ask for another endoscopy and that they take at least 5 biopsies, especially if any of your blood tests come back positive. Good luck!
