  1. wow... I'd say that you definately have an issue with wheat. That sounds like wheat allergy, however, your other symtoms sound like celiac disease. If I were you, I would get tested for celiac disease and wheat allergy. Good Luck
  2. Yeah... if I made an area like that I would still wash it. celiac3270 - I do the plate thing too
  3. Welcome! It is possible that you may get a false negative blood test result if you have been gluten free for 2 weeks. If I were in your situation I would eat gluten until the test and then stop. It appears from your biopsy results that gluten isn't damaging you yet, unless the doctor missed damaged areas (villi damage can be patchy). However...
  4. HAHAHAHAHAHA That is funny! It's so true though... my stomach gets so bloated that it does look like I'm pregnant!
  5. I'm almost 100% sure that I have been glutened through contamination perhaps more than once during the past week. I've got all my gluten symtoms and I've even broke out in something that may be DH.... I think it's going to take awhile for these symtoms to pass. It's so annoying when this happens... but it really make me realize how careful I have to be.....
  6. That's a great idea... now if I could only convince my family to not use an area like that... it could be difficult
  7. No, honey is liquified nectar made from bees and I don't think that wheat, oats, barely, or rye have flowers (correct me if I'm wrong).
  8. Michelle, I have the exact same issues as you... Everyone in the house eats gluten except me and there are crumbs everywhere! Crumbs in the silverware, on the counter, on the table, in the dishwater, even on clean things! (My family appears to love gluten). In order to avoid contamination, I look at everything before it goes in my mouth. I'll wash things...
  9. I eat the plain rice cakes and don't seem to have a problem with them, but if there is a high risk of oat contamination than maybe I should try and avoid them.
  10. Tinkyada - pasta Sterk's - bread and bagels Kinninnick - pizza crust and Italian white bread Amy's - frozen meals Nature's Path (Envirokids) - bars and cereal
  11. That sounds so great! If only more places were like that here...
  12. maybe there was something else in them that you reacted to? Or maybe the company does not know what gluten is... You never know
  13. I haven't had it because I am lactose intolerant but the pizza does look very good! It comes in a box like take out pizza and it looks yummy!
  14. Thanks for your replies I have had a few suspicions of things around my house being contaminated like my peanut butter for example, since I'm the only gluten-free person in my house (I'm trying to get to the bottom of it). I'm going to have to clearly label things from now on However, I have tried a new product in the last week that said gluten free...
  15. I've felt "glutened" now for just over a week. I had severe stomach pain, and continue to have major brain fog, fatigue, dizziness, lack of energy, bloat, stomach "problems" ect... I haven't delibrately eaten gluten but I may be eating something that is contaminated (Or maybe I just had a single contamination... ). However, today out of no where I broke out...
  16. I would say that your son is definately showing signs of wheat or gluten intolerance. It is also possible he is showing early signs of celiac disease and the damage hasn't occured yet in the intestines. However, I'm not a doctor.
  17. Welcome! Make sure that you don't go gluten free before an endoscopy/biopsy or you may get false negative results. Sorry to hear you have been so sick.
  18. Almost every store I go into I check the lays label for "This product is naturally free of gluten", but I've never seen it. Then... I realized that maybe only the lays chips in the US have that on the label (since I'm in Canada). Maybe the ones in Canada aren't made on separate lines?
  19. I have one that is good. Rice Pasta Salad I don't measure for this, so this is just an estimate and you can use other veggies 5-7 cups dry spiral rice pasta (I use Tinkyada brown rice spirals) 3 tomatoes cut up into small pieces 1.5 cups frozen green beans, heated up in the microwave (or 1 can green beans) 2 cups frozen califlower or broccoli...
  20. I had blood test(s) for vitamins and minerals ect. (I don't remember how many) but I had them done probably about 4-5 months after I started the gluten-free diet. Calcium was the only one that wasn't "excellent", it was just "ok" according to my GI.
  21. Thanks for the info! If I ever do the Europe tour, I'll keep Italy in mind
  22. I'm glad that Coppertone is gluten-free I thought banana boat was one of the ony ones! It's important to have gluten-free suncreen... I reacted to a suncreen before that wasn't gluten-free.
  23. Well, I am a student in grad school! and I "try" to manage the diet expenses and all other expenses. Sometimes I have to avoid spending money for awhile so I can buy food! The gluten free diet doesn't have to be expensive... This is mostly my diet: - a variety of frozen veggies heated up in the microwave (I eat a lot of this) - stir fries - lots of...
  24. Thanks for pointing that out Tammy! I didn't even notice! Yea... Yesterday was a tease! and now today is back to the same old...
  25. Oh no Hopefully they won't need to much time to heal.
