ARCHIVED Wearing Medical Alert Bracelet?
Carriefaith replied to mytummyhurts's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I'm not sure how severe it is... If I can remeber correctly I think the skin prick test showed it to be a medium severity, but that was like 1.5 years ago! I guess I never realized until now that I could have both wheat allergy and celiac. I'll have to ask my doctor about it and I may need one of those medical alert bracelets. -
ARCHIVED Wearing Medical Alert Bracelet?
Carriefaith replied to mytummyhurts's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Kaiti, Are you getting a skin prick test or blood test? I got both of those done for wheat allergy and both were positive. It was werid though... the other "glutens" like rye and barley on the skin prik test came back negative but wheat came back postitive. So i was also wondering if I had a wheat allergy in addition to celiac. I think the skin prick test... -
ARCHIVED Help!
Carriefaith replied to rhondaslusher1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I also experienced more than usual hair loss. I used to have small chunks of hair fall out. I have very thick hair so it wasn't noticable. The hair loss went away after I started the diet. "Zinc, iron, B vitamins, essential fatty acids, amino acids and other nutrients are responsible for hair growth. If these deficiencies occur, for whatever reason, hair... -

ARCHIVED Blood Tests For Vitamins
Carriefaith replied to Emme999's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
maybe the osteoporosis occured before you went gluten free and your body is just going to need time to reverse the damage. Also liquid forms of calcium may be better for your body to absorb than solid forms. Here is an interesting website I found: Open Original Shared Link Specifically, vitamin D may help to: Prevent osteoporosis. The body cannot... -
ARCHIVED What About Worcestershire Sauce
Carriefaith replied to RHolliday's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Most worcestershire sauces have gluten in them. But... I believe that lea and perrins is gluten-free in the US. It is NOT gluten-free in Canada. -
Most distinctly colored fruits and veggies can help protect against diseases like cancer. I think that the average healthy person who eats a lot of brightly colored fruits and veggies would have a lower risk of certain diseases and would be able to fight off various diseases/viruses better than those who don't. Just my opinion though.

ARCHIVED Advice Needed From Anyone With Knowledge Of Cd
Carriefaith replied to KylesMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
"Tissue Transglutamase may give persistent mildly elevated results in the absence of disease" Open Original Shared Link I don't know why and it could be wrong. Also you can have false negatives with the Tissue Transglutamase test: "The results with this method can be normal in patients with IgA deficiency in the presence of Celiac" That is why I... -
I am super sensitive and I don't eat Lays/Frito or Humpty Dumpty because of the risk of cross contamination. I have reacted to both brands. I once had a severe reaction one night to the lays regular Stax, I got really hot, then nausea, then gagging, then diarrhea Although I have eaten the lays stax without problems in the past, that one batch must have...

Kinnikinnick is great! And you can buy it in most big grocery stores or health food stores. I prefer it toasted. In my opinion ALL gluten-free bread tastes better toasted -
ARCHIVED Princess Cruises
Carriefaith replied to calisherbear's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I am so glad to hear that! I want to plan a cruise trip to the ancient Greece area (Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt), for next summer and I was thinking of going with Princess. How far in advance do they have to know that you require special dietary needs? And has anyone ever had good/bad experinences with this cruise line or any others? Thanks -
Have you used one of these formats? gif .webp .webp .png Is it = or < 150 pixels by 150 pixels in size? Is it = or less than 50 KB? To make it less blurry try croping your picture to make the actual image biggger. This worked for me! And try saving it to your desktop and uploading it from there. This should work! Good luck.

ARCHIVED Do Gluten Mistakes = Miscarriage?
Carriefaith replied to fweenyp's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It would not be a good idea to eat gluten on purpose while you are pregnant (or any time!) but I think that one accident should not cause much harm. I think (and this is only my opinion) infertility and miscarage happens when the villi are damaged and the body cannot absorb nutrients. Essentially, if there are not enough nutrients to support a baby then,... -
ARCHIVED I Need A Crash Course In Fibromyalgia.....
Carriefaith replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
For those with fibromyalgia what are the symptoms? Are extreme fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, lack of energy, and specific point pain (like in the eye or wrist) all common symptoms? I'm asking for my mom who is having all these symtoms. Her blood tests for celiac have came bach negative but I know that celiac runs in her family and I believe fibromyalgia... -
ARCHIVED Advice Needed From Anyone With Knowledge Of Cd
Carriefaith replied to KylesMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Is this the tissue transglutamase test? This test is highly specific for celiac, however, you can get false negatives, and my grandmother was only 1 point above normal or something on this test and she had intestinal damage. I am no doctor but it appears that your son may have issues with wheat/gluten and he may or may not be celiac. I know... -

Molly, I tried your lemon chicken recipe and it was awesome I really liked it! ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm Although I forgot to put in the ginger I know what you mean about the batter not sticking... I'm guessing that the oil in the pan has to be really hot, and then the batter may stick better. Of coarse I am very impatient and put the chicken in before... -

ARCHIVED Help! Glutened By A Friend!
Carriefaith replied to Twister2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease

ARCHIVED Gf Make-up
Carriefaith replied to jknnej's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm sorry, I was wrong about the Loreal makeup. I had given my product list to my grandmother and I thought it said all products by Loreal are gluten-free. But I just looked at it this morning and it says all Lipsticks by Loreal are gluten-free. My bad... Althought the foundation I got looks fine, no gluten or hidden gluten oppertunities in it as far as I... -
ARCHIVED Bleeding
Carriefaith replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The bleeding may be due to a number of things such as hemroids, ulcerative colitis, chron's, and I think some meds may cause bleeding. I believe that I experienced bleeding while taking one of the many exciting medications I got to try. I think the bleeding was one of the many reasons I stopped taking it. If you are celiac it will show up in the biopsies... -
ARCHIVED Low Gluten Hosts...yea Or Nay?
Carriefaith replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't think it is worth the chance. I don't take the bread at communion, I don't think it's a good idea to delibrately eat gluten, even if it is a small portion. -
