  1. Eloisa, Thanks for your reply and for your advise. My spots are almost gone and my symptoms are getting better. I ended up giving my peanut butter away to the rest of the family and buying a new one. I have clearly labeled the new peanut butter, mayo, and margerine! Hopefully this helps And I eliminated that product that I just started eating just...
  2. Please ignore this post everyone (or maybe it can be deleated?) somehow the wrong info got back to me and it was corrected yesterday.
  3. I tried the Marinated Grilled Vegetables recipe! I used broccoli instead of mushrooms though. It was very good! I'm definately going to trying a few more
  4. Good idea... homemade mayonnaise can have wheat in it.

    ARCHIVED Grrrr....

That sort of "situation" happens to me too. Most of the time it's people apologizing for offering me gluten food after I've told them before that I can't eat gluten. The worst is when people complain about their gluten food in front of you... especially when it's really yummy pizza
  6. Yeah it may have been the chips, a lot of chips are contaminated. Some companies produce them on the same line as gluten chips. Let us know if you remember the brand.
  7. If your hamburger was cooked right on the grill, it may have got contaminated from previuos cooking (epecially if anyone has warmed up their buns on the grill). To prevent getting sick from contaminated grills, I either wash the grill very well or cook my food on tinfoil.
  8. That is also very possible
  9. My favorite breads are Sterk's and Kinnikinnick. 10. Kraft All Natural peanut butter now says lactose free and gluten free right on the label!
  11. Maybe the ice cream was contaminated from doubling dipping spoons from gluten to gluten free ice cream. Did you eat anything else there?
  12. I've never head about that before and it is interesting. I personally don't think it would prevent the disease but maybe be used as a tool to help prevent it. It definately would not help people born with celiac disease.
  13. Rob - Those are hilarious and I can relate... many of those have happened to me!
  14. Tiffany is right, eating out can be safe if you are careful and choose the right places. Higher class, less busy restaurants would probably be more accommodating to creating gluten free meals and there are some restarunts that have gluten-free menus. A few people here have lists of these restaurants in the US and I have some names of restaurants in Canada...
  15. It would be fine, if there was gluten in it they would clearly indicate it.
  16. Kraft will clearly indicate gluten on the ingredient list. If the catalina dressing is Kraft, then you can look at the ingredients and they will clearly indicate the source of the modified food starch. For other companies though, you should call to make sure it is not wheat.
  17. I'm not sure but I find that my immune system seems to be weaker than it was. I get nauseated very easily and often have a sore throat and fatigue. I drink tons of orange juice and eat lots of fruits and veggies and wash my hands a lot to keep from getting sick. Hope this helps.
  18. Last summer I went to Algonquin Park in Ontario, Canada and had a great time! I brought my own gluten free food and stayed healthy! Open Original Shared Link Some ideas: If you are planning a wilderness trip, try and find a cabin or cottage in the area that has a stove and a fridge. You can bring cold food items with you in a cooler and keep...
  19. The terminal ileum is the last part of the small intestine before it would enter the large intestine. For celiac disease, this part of the intestine would not be as badly damaged as the upper part of the intestine. My GI doctor told me that villi damage due to gluten is mainly in the first part of the small intestine (From what I understood, the last part...
  20. Welcome! *Label things like butter, peanut butter, mayonnaise, jam, dip, ect. "gluten free". *Be careful when using non-stick pans that have cuts on them, gluten can get trapped inside the cracks. *Get rid of wooden cooking utensils/cutting boards that were used to handle food containing gluten. *You would also need a new and separate deep fryer...
  21. I have a friend who may have an enlarged pituitary gland and the doctor told him that it could be because of celiac disease. I have never heard of this but I know that celiac can affect almost anything in the body. Has anyone ever heard of this? and if you have, do you have any sources of info? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks so much.
  22. Thanks so much! I will definately give some of those a try. wow I was reading through some of the recipes and they look sooooooooooooo good! Are these all yours?
  23. Oh no... I'm sorry... I know how awful that must be. I wouldn't trust those salads again especially if the salsa has gluten
  24. I'm also almost 5"7 and I'm done growing.
  25. I personally wouldn't trust a technique like that. It may be a fluke that this technique works for some people, but I think sometimes with these types of things we see what we want to see... Does your father-in-law get bad symptoms when he eats gluten?
