ARCHIVED Pumpkin Recipes?
confusedks replied to cooki.dough's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Carla, Do you buy just plain pumpkin? Because I bought pumpkin puree from Trader Joe's and added some spices to it because it was spice-less and put it in Namaste Muffin mix and it was BLEH!!!!!! It was SO GROSS!!! Although their muffin mix I think is sugar free, so maybe that's why. Kassandra -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Julie, I am only 17, but I have a friend who had surgery like this (a little different, but same concept) at the age of 12! It is actually pretty common to have it at a young age since scoliosis, etc. are usually developed at in adolescence. The reason I would have suregery is because I have had a back brace, etc. but it makes my sciatica problems worse... -

Tom, Thank you! I also would like to know what procedure she had done. What was the spinal problem they were treating? Jin, I did something like the VAX-D thing not too long ago and the pain has only gotten worse. It is a bit more complicated than a disc because my entire spine and hips, etc. are off because of the curvature. If I have surgery... -

Tom, OMG! I LOVE TO HEAR THAT!!!!!!!!!! I read up on some stuff about people who had spinal fusions, etc. and they were all saying terrible things about the pain being worse than pre-surgery. But I don't think anyone who had a great recovery would be posting on the internet, kinda like here on the message boards. Do you mind if I ask where your mom lives... -

Ahh! That is scary about titanium. We are looking into spinal surgery for my back problems. They are getting worse and worse. Breathing is even painful now because it sends shooting pains down my back and leg! We have an appointment on October 31st (Halloween!!!) at Children's Hospital LA with their top orthopedic surgeon. Now I am really nervous about putting... -
ARCHIVED Vitamin Water Lovers!
confusedks posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Someone asked a little while ago if Glaceau's Vitamin Water is gluten free. Here's the email I sent them. dear Kassandra, thank you for taking the time to contact glac -
peter99ff, Be careful with the amount of soy you take in as a replacement. I built an intolerance to it really quickly. You might want to try almond milk instead of soy milk, just to reduce the amount of soy you take in. Everybody with C, I have been gluten-free since May and it has JUST gotten better. I am drinking 4-5 times the amount of water I...

I totally LOVE Grey's Anatomy!!!! I also really like Private Practice even though I hated it when they did the spin off. It was really good...I thought. But then again, I LOVE Kate Walsh. What did other people think? I agree the deer thing was REALLY stupid! What were they thinking? Overall, I am glad it's back on...makes my week feel faster! Kassandra

Hello everybody, I have been really busy with school work and trying to get to bed at a decent hour (while still managing to watch grey's anatomy AND private practice ) I have been feeling a little better barring my flu problem that's going on. I have started a diet that consists of 3 oz. of lean protein, 1 cup vegetables (except at breakfast) and 1/2... -
GFinMN, WOW!!! That's crazy! My question to you, how long did it take when you took these foods out of your diet, for your excema to clear up? That's really interesting. I think it's food related (then again I think almost everything is food related ) but it gets to the point that I wonder what else in the world I could cut out of my diet? I guess apples...

ARCHIVED Coupons Please
confusedks replied to jenngolightly's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Jenn, I would suggest trying to stick to plain foods such as meats, veggies, fruits, etc. These are really cheap. You can also maybe ask NoGluGirl for a list of mainstream products that are gluten free. If you try not to buy gluten free replacements (cookies, etc.) you will save A LOT of money. We stopped buying these kinds of things, and it has saved a... -
ARCHIVED Quinoa Pasta
confusedks replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would love to know how the sauce is made. I can't do dairy or soy either and I have given up on dairy replacements because they're all soy, or if they're made with rice, they aren't truly dairy free. I would appreciate it...if you're willing. Kassandra -

Quick question... is a high alkaline diet the same as a Candida diet? It's not is it? Aren't they different? Kassandra -
ARCHIVED Missing Couscous
confusedks replied to ~alex~'s topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Alex, Have you tried quinoa cooked in gluten-free chicken broth? We buy the Trader Joe's brand (labelled Gluten free) and use that instead of water. It makes a HUGE difference. It's not quite the same as couscous, but it's pretty close. Kassandra -

Susie, I was starting to feel depressed also, just because there is ALWAYS something else going on with my health. My mom was told to take salmon oil, and it seemed to really help. If you're really vigilant about taking it, it does make a difference. It also helps with "brain fog." Congrats on the birth of your baby niece!! Kassandra -
I actually have an allergist, but he was such a jerk with the whole gluten-free thing we didn't want to call him. But maybe it's worth a call. I am still amazed at my GP's lack of concern!!! Kassandra

ARCHIVED Oxalates And Nightshades
confusedks replied to jerseyangel's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hello all, Well I just caught up on all of the posts and this is all very interesting. So, does anyone have a post of things that can be eaten (kind of like the forbidden gluten list here on celiac.com) so I know where to start? Also, what do all of you eat in a day? I am free of gluten, soy, dairy, and tree nuts. I am also light on eggs (no egg omelettes... -

Carla, I am so reluctant to get tested for Lyme!!! I don't know why, I think if there is one more thing wrong with me...I'll croak! I know I'd need to go through IGeneX, but what if my doctor thinks I'm crazy? (Well, I already know he thinks that!) Would it be worth going straight to an LLMD? And spending more money??!!!! AHHHH!!!! This all gets so expensive... -
Thanks for all your replies. I feel like it is food related, but with these things, I don't know what else I could possibly take out of my diet and still be able to eat food!!! If I took out nightshades...I think I'd die of starvation...lol. I could lose a little weight, but I really don't want to limit my diet anymore than I already have. As far as...

Hello all, I am sick with the flu of some sorts and almost everything I try to take has gluten, soy or dairy!!! I was going to go to my Dr. because I think I have an ear infection, but I am allergic to all antibiotics! Grr! SO, I am riding this one out....miserably. On another topic, does anyone know if going to an endocrinologist would be helpful... -
Lonewolf, I'm not SURE I guess. He looked at it and told me it's a mild form of excema. It's not red patches, instead my upper left and right arm are broken out in what almost looks like acne, but it's not. AndreaB, That is interesting. What do yo mean by "metals"? Kassandra
-
I was diagnosed with excema not too long ago by my allergist. He told me to put "Carmol" on it religiously for a month and see what happens. I have done that and it's not any better. I am dairy, soy, tree nut and gluten free. What else could be going on?? Does anyone have any ideas...creams, anything. I have tried all kinds of oils, etc. and nothing works...

I have a question for all of you. I have been well, but it has been raining like crazy here in LA. We had leaks from our skylight above out stairs last winter, but then it was repaired and for the rest of rainy season (only like 2 days...lol) it was fine. My question is...it REEKS of mold in here and it has been reading. Could this have been part of the reason...
