  1. Nothing like a strong gluten reaction to help curb the urge to cheat. Sorry your feeling so funky and I hope it passes soon. When I get glutened I use the Pepto Bismal and if I absolutely have to Immodium. Asprin helps a bit with the inflammation. You might want to keep a good stash of gluten free goodies at the office to help keep temptation at bay.
  2. Yea for me the tummy issues usually show up 3 to 4 days later. I do have some signs before that like my arthritis flares and some stomach growling but the real 'bad' day takes a while to hit. Can make it tough to figure out what got us.
  3. Yes I have been taking those brands for quite a while. I do make sure that I read the label fully as a couple Country Life use soy for Vitamin E. You should always mention any supplements or herbs your taking before they test levels as taking supplements can give higher readings in some cases.
  4. Get as strict as you can with the diet. For many that will help. There can be a sort of PTSD reaction if you have been sick for a while and have had accidents. If you have gotten to that point it might be helpful to see a counselor who can help you cope with the anxiety reactions. Sometimes medication can be helpful.
  5. Well if your going to ask for a scope please keep eating gluten until after that is done. There are false negatives on those also. If your going to do a dietary trial to see if it helps it is best to stick with whole unprocessed foods to start and do take the needed precautions to prevent cross contamination in the home. If you go gluten free and then eat...
  6. That's why I will not move anyplace that doesn't have a Wegmans. They make shopping so easy for us. I have never had a CC reaction from any of their products and if I see the circle G I know the item is safe. I don't know why other companies don't do the same thing unless it is the liability issue or they just source their ingredients from places they are...
  7. I did. I live in NY. NY is one of the most expensive states to live in the Union. You pay taxes and fees for everything but breathing and I am sure soon they will figure out a way to charge for that. And those taxes and fees are very, very high.
  8. Many of the vitamins I take are NOW brand. Most are free of everything you mention and say so on the label. Country Life is good also.
  9. The gluten challenge is when we have been gluten free and we need to have a biopsy or bloodwork so we have to go back to eating gluten. After a pretty short time gluten free the body stops making antibodies and it takes up to 3 months back on gluten for them to show up, if they are going to. I am glad the diet is helping. Stick with it. I hope the doctors...
  10. Were you on the gluten challenge when they started thinking Behcets? A response to gluten can cause full body inflammation also. How have you responded to the diet? If you are responding well to the diet keep with it. False negatives on biopsy are not uncommon and since your biopsies were negative the doctor may be trying to rule out anything else. Try not...
  11. When we are trying to see an allergist we really need to ask over the phone if they deal with just allergies, like the doctor you saw, or if they will deal with intolerances which are different. If you try the allergist route again ask before making the appointment if they will guide people through an elimination diet. I had to call at least 10 before I found...
  12. Can they use FedEX? Another alternative might be to see if you can find an allergist who will guide you through an elimination diet. Or you could drop the suspect items for a couple of weeks to a month and then challenge them one at a time for a week or so to see if you react.
  13. First off your doctor should have tested you before he put you on the diet. If you are going to get the endo you need to go back to a full gluten diet for any chance of the test having an accurate result. However you are seeing your symptoms resolve gluten free. It does take some time to heal and to get the hang of the diet as there is more than just food...
  14. What are the ingredients?
  15. With the cereals your missing the barley malt. Those two are not cereals we can have. If you do oats make sure they are gluten free oats. The others are heavily cross contaminated. We can have the Chex cereals that are marked gluten free and a couple others. Your hot dog brands should be okay, I am pretty sure Nathans and HN are both gluten free. With...
  16. Welcome to the board. How long have you been diagnosed? Are you new to the diet? Behcet disease and celiac do have some similiar symptoms and both are autoimmune. If your celiac the diet should relieve a lot of your symptoms, if not all, but it can take some time. Celiac can have an effect on the lymph system. I had swollen glands in my neck and groin...
  17. Yea me too. Then perhaps my hands wouldn't be so lumpy and I wouldn't have been given 2 different arthritis drugs that have since been pulled of the market. Hopefully as more of us are diagnosed in this country there will be more recognition of symptoms outside the scope of the just the GI ones.
  18. That's so nice. It's great when families are supportive and thoughtful too.
  19. She does sound like she is one of us. After we go gluten free reactions can be stronger and last for a while. The antibodies need to calm down again. Make sure you are taking precautions against CC. She needs a new dedicated toaster, replace scratched cookware, replace your colander and make sure she has her own condiments, nut butters, jellies, mayo etc...
  20. I didn't realize you were also hallucinating. Please be sure to bring that effect to the attention of your doctor. Whatever they gave you they need to be sure not to give it to you again. Glad your starting to feel better.
  21. I agree completely. Unfortunately if you get one bad doctor who labels you that label seems to stick. Some doctors look at the records transferred and see 'IBS' or 'patient refuses to believe they are not depressed' and they don't look any farther. Hopefully you will be a doctor who makes your own judgements and looks and listens to your patients. I have...
  22. Yea to this. The reason the OP will be having to go back to gluten could be for any variety of reasons. He/she was looking for help with having to deal with a 2 month glutening not for a judgement. To the OP I hope your reaction is not too strong and you are able to get through it with a minimum of discomfort. We are here for you if things get too bad...
  23. It is not unusual for the treatment of refractory celiac to be treated with medications. Steroid drugs and immunosuppresive being two of those used. This is from one article. Sorry I couldn't give a link as it wouldn't work when added. Budesonideinthe Treatment of Refractory Celiac Disease Pardeep Brar, M.D., 1 Susie Lee, M.D., 1 Suzanne Lewis, M.D....
  24. The choice of whether to do this is up to you. You were having symptoms, have a strong family history and going gluten free took care of the issues. False negatives with testing are all too frequent. Personally I would be thankful that your reactions are not real severe but I would not go back to a full gluten diet. You need to keep in mind that until not...
  25. I hope you derm did the biopsy correctly but even if he didn't you have seen a strong corelation between eating gluten and the rash. I would go to strictly gluten free no matter what the test results.
