  1. Do you mean you may have had food poisoning? If so you may want to ask your doctor to do a stool sample on you. Most cases of food poisoning resolve on their own but not all. You may still have some issues that require an antibiotic to resolve.
  2. If you have only been on the Levbid for 2 weeks you should be okay to just stop it. If you had been taking it for a couple of months you might have to taper as if I remember correctly it does have addictive properties. Check with your doctor to make sure but you should be able to just set it aside.
  3. Yes you could still be celiac. We don't heal overnight and reactions can be delayed or vary. The gluten free diet is not a weight loss diet. I don't really understand why your doctor would have thought you would lose weight. It looks like the days you felt better you were eating whole foods and then you ate processed and felt worse. You may have inadvertantly...
  4. Yes it would be standard to go to the endo after the blood test. It is good that your doctor knows that false negatives are not uncommon. They are not uncommon with the endo either so the diet should be tried after the endo is preformed. No need to wait for the results. The gene tests are not diagnostic and more celiac associated genes are being found than...
  5. Although the lists are likely the same for the US do note that this is a list for products in Canada.
  6. Good article. I would have been diagnosed years before I was if my neurologist had not been so clueless about the UBOs. His response to them after I had a follow up spinal tap to rule out MS was 'they don't mean anything, here have a prozac'. He was convinced that I wanted to be sick even though I had lost reflexes, could barely think, could no longer read...
  7. Can you think back to what may have changed six months ago? For example did you start some home remodeling with drywall or putting up wallpaper? Did you start drinking distilled gluten alcohols? Start going to a restaurant you hadn't before or did a favorite change chefs? If you have a significant other and they eat gluten are they being careful to brush...
  8. Welcome to the board. Yea you are pretty firmly diagnosed with those results. Do encourage everyone in your family to be tested. Celiac can have different presentations for different people. My DD had stomach pain, severe, as her main symptom and also fatigue. My DS was growth stunted, had stomach pain and mood issues. How it hit me is in my signature. While...
  9. I stopped taking the Levbid when I went gluten free. It was one of a number of drugs that I weaned off of before I started the diet. I never had to add any of the 5 scripts back. If you have been taking it a long time you should ask your doctor if you need to wean off or if you can just stop it. In my case the Levbid was not real effective. I do not think...
  10. I'm with you. When I started the diet I assumed because so many said distilled gluten grains were okay that they were okay for me. They are not. I might as well eat a slice of wheat bread as drink or eat something with distilled gluten grains. Different folks have different levels of sensitivity and IMHO cutting out all sources derived from gluten in the...
  11. I am so glad that you participate on this forum. Our experience is very similar including our symptoms. When I have time, I plan to read a lot more of your posts because you probably know more about g. ataxia than I do. Thank you - you've helped me more than you know!!!

  12. Some rice milks are processed using barley. Rice Dream is the one that comes first to my mind but I don't know if there might be others. I use Wegmans brand rice milk that is for sure gluten free. I think maybe Pacific brand is also but not positive.
  13. I passed my 8th anniversary gluten free last month. At first it was incredibly difficult for me, in part because I was so very sick for so long and had no energy, could barely walk or think and was in constant pain. The thought that I would have to make everything from scratch was quite distressing as I barely had the strength to throw together even a simple...
  14. Are you and the school avoiding gluten in stuff like playdoh and glues for crafting stuff? That can be a gluten source that gets skipped.
  15. Yea that does look like DH. Do drop iodized salt for a bit until the rash has been gone for a while. You could try going into your regular doctor and getting the blood tests done and seeing if you can get a referral for a quick biopsy. Sometimes if another doctor calls and stresses he need for speed the derm will manage to fit you in. Perhaps your doctor...
  16. Being glutened will also raise your blood sugar like any illness. Especially with your tummy being off you may be getting some gluten sneaking in somewhere. Are you eating a mostly whole foods diet and checking all meds and supplements etc? Do have your doctor do the A1C but also take a look at anyplace you may be getting CC'd.
  17. Yea I couldn't figure that out either since I was the heaviest I ever was the last few years before diagnosis and my D was basically constant 24/7. I am naturally a slender person and went back down to my normal weight fairly quickly after diagnosis.
  18. Not all celiacs are underweight. Some are quite overweight, some are close to average and some are under. I think the mucous is your system trying to protect itself from the gluten. You should mention it to your doctor along with everything else. Make sure that if your tummy wakes you in pain at night that you tell the doctor. That lets them know that you...
  19. I am sorry you are having to go through this. You will heal again after the couple months is over but it may take some time. It may unfortunately be an unpleasant couple of months for you. Liquid Pepto Bismal can be helpful for stomach pain. Immodium helps with the D. You should keep in close contact with your doctor if your doing this because you now...
  20. Yea life without gluten is one thing but life without chocolate ....
  21. It can take a while to get the hang of the diet. Try going with as many whole foods as you can as that will help you heal a bit quicker. Make sure your also checking any meds and supplements you may take. For cereal if you like hot cereal Cream of Buckwheat is good and Rice and Corn Chex are gluten free and Bakery on Main makes a nice granola if your someone...
  22. Yea it's frustrating. I handle it by eating before I go and keeping some kind of snack with me. You might want to bring a dish to pass that you know is gluten free and serve yourself first. Even if it is the only safe thing that is there at least you will have something safe. You might also want to have some gluten free treats on you, cookies or some cake...
  23. I would just eliminate soy for now and not worry about the other legumes. Some of us will tolerate soy lecithin, I know I do, but soy protein or flour and the oil gives me severe stomach pain and C along with joint and muscle pain. Different people will have different issues with it of course. For some they will get D instead of C for example. You might want...
  24. You mention consuming a lot of protein. Is a lot of that protein from soy? Seems quite a few of us have issues with soy and if you do that could be preventing your body from absorbing.
  25. How long have you been gluten free? Celiac can result in hormonal issues but whether that is the reason for your problems I can't say. For some of us those issues do resolve a bit once we have been gluten free for a while.
