ARCHIVED Another Ttg, Not Looking Forward To Results :(
ravenwoodglass replied to kaiess's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You all should be tested. Even if you don't think you are having symptoms. You may want to google silent celiac it might be quite eyeopening, although most find they are having symptoms that they just don't associate with it becasue celiac is thought of as mostly a gut disease. It is not. It also impacts the brain and virtually all other organs. I do... -
ARCHIVED 20 Yr. Old Looking For Guidance
ravenwoodglass replied to Sas888's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome to the boards. Hormel makes some really good gluten-free stuff. I use the AuJus roasts all the time and find them good and quick. Delmonte tomato and fruit products are gluten-free with the exception of the meat flavored pasta sauces. Something that may help a lot is a rice cooker. The rice cooks on the bottom and in the steamer tray I just... -
ARCHIVED Zantac No Longer Working...
ravenwoodglass replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have you ever tried Pepto Bismal? I have used that on the rare times that I need it for years. It coats my tummy and does away with the pain without the rebound effect the acid blockers cause. When I was given a script for those drugs I decided to try the pepto first as I have little trust of script drugs and I have never had to fill the script plus usually... -
ARCHIVED Hypoglycemia, Alcoholism, Etc.
ravenwoodglass replied to Joyous's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
(((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) I am so glad you have recognized that both are likely an issue for you. You have taken a big step in just admitting to yourself alcohol might be a problem. I am hoping with the issues that your children have that you have at least had them tested for celiac and even if they are not positive you should consider making them... -
ARCHIVED Question About Antibodies
ravenwoodglass replied to cas has MMMhope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome. Your in the right place to learn about celiac. What you were told was that your test for celiac was positive. Are you scheduled to see the doctor soon? You can call the office back and ask to speak to a nurse or even to have the doctor call you back. If this was a PCP's office they will most likely refer you to a GI for an endoscopy. -
ARCHIVED Another Ttg, Not Looking Forward To Results :(
ravenwoodglass replied to kaiess's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I will be very surprised if his TTg has gone down if you are still feeding him gluten. It is a big change when you start the diet, but it is not the absolute end of the world. There are a lot of great folks here that are ready to help in any way they can. I also was really not someone who wanted to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. For me a rice... -
Hi, I just wanted to make sure everyone see's this. I know it is a subject that is dear to my heart as it most likley is from many of us. We shouldn't have to wonder whether a drug is safe for us and we shouldn't have to suffer the consequences when we get one that isn't. Having to fight a gluten reaction while the body is trying to deal with whatever...

ARCHIVED Ocella(generic Yasmin) Gluten Free
ravenwoodglass replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If the pharmacey is still open call her back and ask her to call the company and find out. It is part of her job. Also ask her to note in your chart that you can not have gluten and all meds need to be verified as gluten free. -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
ravenwoodglass replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Starkist makes one, the only I have found other than the one I get at Wegmans. From their website: Open Original Shared Link Gourmet Choice -
ARCHIVED Partial Gluten Free Diet?
ravenwoodglass replied to Forensicmom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have you had any celiac screening done? A full celiac panel should be your first step before making any dietary changes. If you go gluten light first it can increase your chances of a false negative and there is a high enough risk of that even on a full gluten diet. If your problem is gluten being gluten light is not going to be effective in stopping damage... -
ARCHIVED 100% Maple Syrup
ravenwoodglass replied to Lexi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It should be gluten free. What did you eat it on? -
ARCHIVED Many Doctors Are Trained By Big Pharma
ravenwoodglass replied to mayfaire's topic in Doctors
Sure do, but then the title changed and the Pharm aspect started to blossom fully. -
ARCHIVED Maltodextrin Is gluten-free?
ravenwoodglass replied to GravStars's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I personally do not consume wheat that has 'the gluten processed out of it'. For me this also applies to gluten grain distilled alcohols and vinegars. I am very sensitive and will react. I am thankful that they now have to disclose it on the label. -
ARCHIVED Angel Food Ministries
ravenwoodglass replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks so much for posting this. I never expected to find one within my limited travelling distance but there is one just a few miles from my home. Once the weather breaks and I know I can get there (no chance of snow), I will be a regular customer. I think it will help a lot and I am thrilled they have fresh produce. -
ARCHIVED Are Enemas A Good Idea?
ravenwoodglass replied to dostoyevsky's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
If you have severe constipation an enema might be helpful otherwise your colon does not need 'cleaning'. -
ARCHIVED Frustrated! Should I Test Or Not?
ravenwoodglass replied to henny's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Of course they think you should do a challenge, they are not the one's who would have to deal with the pain, the D, the fatigue and the risk to a system that has already shown how much it does not like gluten and how much better it feels without it. It is your body and your decision. You could consider a short 'until I react' challenge if you haven't... -
ARCHIVED Happy Birthday To Patti!

I hope it was a great B-Day. Happy Birthday - a date late. -
ARCHIVED Crest Pro Health Rinse
ravenwoodglass replied to Glacier Guy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know the answer to whether crest is gluten-free but I use Tom's of Maine. I like the cinnamint. The package breaks down where all the ingredients come from and as far as I know all their toothpastes are gluten free. -
If you can get her to a derm while the rash is active you can ask him to do a biopsy looking for DH. He would biopsy the skin next to the lesions. The purple scarring you talk about of is one of the hallmarks of DH so a visit to a derm may be quite helpful. Also I could be wrong but I don't think molluscum itches. If the rash is itchy that would be another...

ARCHIVED Mood Swings?
ravenwoodglass replied to madlinmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am so glad you are having a good response to the diet. For some of us another possible factor with mood swings after going gluten free is that they will go through withdrawl. Not everyone experiences this but for some the first week is a real tough time. It sounds like you are coping with this well and the suggestion to always have a safe food with is... -
ARCHIVED Bubbles
ravenwoodglass replied to Anthony22's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I can only answer based on my own experience but for me that would be a sign that I have gotten glutened. -
ARCHIVED Candida Overgrowth And Celiac Connection
ravenwoodglass replied to esthesio-vivi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes those symptoms could just be caused by just celiac and also by dairy intolerance. If they haven't gone away after a month strictly gluten free try dropping dairy and see if that helps. -
ARCHIVED Opinions Much Appreciated
ravenwoodglass replied to Mysh's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
IMHO the answer is in bold above. You have positive blood work and if that and resolution of symptoms is enough for you then the choice to biopsy or not is up to you. -
ARCHIVED Is My Acne Actually Dh?
ravenwoodglass replied to dostoyevsky's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
My DH as an adult was deemed to be 'picker acne' by one derm. I even asked how it could be acne as it itched. As a child I was told I had poison ivy-12 months out of the year. I stopped getting new lesions within a couple of weeks gluten-free but it took a couple more weeks to heal the ones that were there. After that the only time I would get a lesion... -
One other thought to throw in the mix. It may have been something you ate yesterday or the day before that got you gluten wise. For some of us the reaction is delayed between injestion and upset tummy. For myself I have a decided three day pattern. I eat the substance, I get some nongut related nastyness and then 3 days later the D hits.
